I was rear ended & the Back Bumper Reinforcement was broken on the right side underneath.remove the push pins on top, under hood. there are 3 7 mm bolts on each side the wheel wells and two 10mm bolts in side the bumper on the sides. you should take the 6 7mm bolts out first then it will slide off forward hope it helps

Normally they are made of Nomex. They make firesuits from three materials: FR cotton, PBI/Kevlar, and Nomex/Kevlar. Its natural color is that ugly yellow firefighters' suits are made from. The positives of this stuff are vast: it is absolutely fireproof. It is NOT fire resistant, like Nomex and FR cotton are, it is fireproof. It has no melting point. It breathes. It is great stuff, if you fight fires for a living. If you drive race cars for a living you want a Nomex/Kevlar suit. It is fire-resistant enough to keep you from getting roasted until you can extract yourself from the fire. It is made in sponsor-friendly colors. It's affordable (compared to a stay in a burn center) and it works, so that's what they use.

You can use a soldering iron to melt the crack back together but this must be done with care and takes some skill to do it right. Also you can purchase plastic repair kits at your local auto parts store. You might want to visit your local body shop and I am sure they can advise you how is the best way to repair it.

Correction:
The bolts to remove the brackets are not visible through the slots in the bumper, the turn signal housings must be removed from the bumper first. Use Phillips screwdriver to remove one screw per side to remove the turn signal housings. Then use a long extension and a 12 MM socket for the bracket bolts, through the signal housing openings. Two bolts per side, one nut per side. The nuts are located one each side, on the back side of the radiator support.

I just did this today. The original poster is correct in the 4 bolts and 2 nuts to remove. However, there are a few additional nuts/screws to remove to fully remove bumper. First, there are 2 screws on the bumper on the inside of the wheel well, 2 on each side, 4 total. Follow the bumper down to the bottom and then move forward from the wheel about 6 inches. You'll see another bolt. Again, 1 on each side, 2 total. Lastly, there are 2 nylon screws that connect the lower bumper cowl to the forward engine cowl. To remove unscrew halfway and then pull. It takes a pretty good tug, but it will come out. The bumper should now be free to remove.
If you're just changing a headlight, I would recommend removing the 4 bolts and 2 nuts the original poster mentioned and then the additional hardware on just 1 side. You don't need to fully remove the bumper to get the headlight out...just need to really pull it away and down. Removing all hardware on only one side will allow you to pull it down on just one side and remove the headlight. This also makes reassembly much easier. Good luck!

Step 1: Spray the sticker with a lubricant and try to peel it off. If this doesn't work, proceed to step two. Step 2: Soften the adhesive with heat from a blow dryer. Step 3: Start to peel off a corner of the sticker while continuing to apply heat, or gently scrape off the sticker with a rubber spatula or a putty knife with its metal blade wrapped in duct tape. Do not use a razor blade; it can scratch paint and bumpers. Step 4: Wipe the remains of the sticker away with a soft, lint-free rag dampened with rubbing alcohol. Step 5: Buff the bumper or panel with a polishing compound and a fresh coat of wax to complete the job. If none of these work, jsut buy a can of "WD40" and spray it over the cover. Make sure it is dry before you spray it. You can easily peel off the cover this way. However, this works depending on what kind of sticker you're using.

It is easy. just remove the 4 large nuts next to your tow hooks. I always wrap the ends of the bumper with tape or something to protect from scratching the bumper when you finally get the nuts loose. The ends will want to go up and hit the fender paint.
I belive I had a friend change them over because the style is so much nicer...regardless i don't believe there were any modifications at all true bolt on same wiring to I believe it left a small gap in the bumper not positive though.

How do you remove the rear bumper on a '95 Mercury Mystique?
Very simple procedure for the Mercury Mystique. Like many of today's modern designs, Mystique bumpers are all molded plastic and pretty light weight. They damage easily upon impact, making them nearly disposable when the damage is not too great. If not too extensive, bondo works well.
You won't have to get into the trunk to access any bumper fasteners. Four main nuts and bolts are visible from the underside - these come off with any standard ratchet tools. The top two sides are held on with two small Phillips bolts which are torqued in tight and should be removed with a ratchet, not a Phillips screwdriver.
Once these are removed, the bumper will pull straight out and off. Good luck!
What is a plastic bumper on a graduated cylinder?
The "bumper," "plastic ring" or "ring guard" should never be moved from the top. The purpose is to protect the graduated cylinder from breaking if it tips over. That is why you don't see them on plastic graduated cylinders.
Painting an aftermarket plastic bumper cover can be tricky mostly because of the waxy mold-release agents that are molded into the plastic. Even if the bumper cover is primed, you will likely have adhesion problems or fisheye if you simply basecoat+clear over the top.
It's always preferable to find a junkyard bumper cover and just repaint it, but if you must use an aftermarket bumper cover here are some things you need to know:
NOTE: Wax and Silicone are your enemies here and you must vanquish them to achieve adhesion! The Silicone will only be on the surface so with good prep, you will get it off, but the wax (mold release) is literally mixed into the plastic and makes up about 5% of the material, so there is no getting rid of it completely - however you can whip it into submission, more or less.
First scuff the plastic (ALL OF IT) with a scotch brite pad and wash thoroughly with soap and water. If the water beads up on the bumper, it's NOT CLEAN. Water should sheet.
Next you will need a product called "Total Prep" or equivalent. It comes in a spray can. This is another 'cleaning' step. Use a CLEAN Cotton cloth (do NOT use a paper towel!!!) that has no hint of grease, wax or anything like that. If you wash your cloths, stuff like fabric softener and dryer sheets contaminate the cloth and will contaminate your bumper! Do not let the Total Prep dry on your bumper - wipe it off - the idea here is to remove contaminates, not to just move them around. Keep cleaning until you come out with a nice, clean rag. It may take a few rags.
Once you've thoroughly cleaned with total prep and it is dry, wait no longer than 30 minutes (otherwise wax will begin to re-emerge) and apply your next product (this is assuming you're in a dust-free environment - if not make sure all dust is removed before proceeding.) This is called "adhesion promoter" and it's available from 3M (5907) or in a product widely used called "Bulldog."
Follow the instructions on the adhesion promoter to the letter. Spray it on, wait about 10-15 minutes and it will flash (turn hazy) and now you're ready for the next step. Some may consider this "belt and suspenders" but if you want to be SURE you have superior adhesion, do it: use SEM 39133 Surfacer (this is a type of primer) as opposed to any normal primer you might want to use. This product is designed for this type of operation and will save you hours of grief. Your first coat should be light, and you should apply at least three thin coats. Do not sand in between unless you have a surface problem that needs to be addressed. Again, always read the product directions first and follow them.
Now that you have an opaque primer finish (you can't see through it anywhere) and it has dried thoroughly (don't push this!) you're ready to move on to the next step. You're ready to use a more 'standard' type sanding primer and this you will use for building up the finish. Be very careful not to sand through this primer coat and into the SEM primer... just build as needed and always use medium coats; not too heavy or they might take too long to dry and while sitting there, eat into base layers and allow the wax to come up. Take your time and don't push it. Use 400 grit between coats.
Once you have built up the primer coat to perfection (trust me, anything you can see in primer will look many times worse in paint!) final sand with 600 grit. It should look pretty nice - no fisheyes, no crazing... if you have that, somewhere you didn't follow the instructions!
Now you're ready for basecoat and clear, but remember to use a flex additive to BOTH the bc and the clear and as always, don't apply too much paint until the last clear coat.

How do you remove 2006 Toyota corolla rear bumper?
- Lift the rear of the Corolla using a floor jack. Jack up on the rear jack point behind the trunk, and place a jack stand under each of the rear pinch welds. Then lower the vehicle onto the jack stands.
- Pry the plastic rivets off the inner wheel liner with a flat-head screwdriver.
Remove the bolts that hold the bumper to the bumper bracket and support.
Pull the bumper off the bumper support.
Mount the new bumper. Align the mounting holes on the back of the bumper's mounting bracket with the bumper support, and thread and tighten the bumper. Replace the plastic rivets that hold the wheel liner to the rear bumper.
Remove the jack stands, and lower the car.
