Well, when you're in a bumper car, there's rubber all around you so that when you bang into another person, it won't shake you up too much. Therefore, the rubber protects you from getting shocked and puts it into the ground instead of into you. I hope that answered you question! =)

The front bumper bolts directly to the factory mounts on the frame. You need to remove four bolts, two on each side. Use a 14 mm socket wrench. The bolts are parallel to the ground and perpendicular to the center of the vehicle.

1)Purchase new bumper cover wing (wrap around) mounting rails and hardware 2) Open trunk and remove liner left and right to gain access to mounting hardware 3) Remove taillight harness left and right 4) Remove taillights (left and right) These are sealed and will require very careful prying away from body. Work slowly and allow the adhesive to release. 5)Completely remove the bumper cover push locks (2) beneath each taillight 6) Examine inner fender (inside trunk) for (2) bumper cover wing mounting bolts on left and right sides. Loosen but do not remove (inner bolt on passenger side is behind the jack assembly). Apply penetrating oil as necessary to loosen. NOTE: these bolts are often rusted badly and WILL break. Hence the need to purchase new mounting rails before starting work. 7) Carefully pry rear side marker assemblies from vehicle and remove wiring harness. Pry carefully from the rear. 8) Remove (2) mounting bolts beneath left and right bumper cover wings (fender) may be rusted and require vise grips and some force to pull out. 9) Remove (1) mounting behind each rear wheel (upper end of bumper cover wing) 10) Remove bumper cover corner bolts below and toward the outside corner of left and right taillight 11) Carefully remove the bumper cover wing bolts previously loosened inside the fender. Don't worry if they break, you have new hardware. 12) Carefully pull bumper cover toward the rear to free it from the vehicle. 13) Installation is the reverse of this procedure.

Just had the rear bumper replaced. Part cost about $210

If your bumper is not already off you will find 2 screws (front bumper) or 3 screws (rear bumper).. use a short Phillips screwdriver to get them out.. now find the bumper frame mounts,in the trunk there's one on each side a bit above the floor, they are set a bit wider than the deck lid. under the hood you will find two more exactly like them. on the passenger side you will need to remove the radiator overflow tank to get to the nut, just grab the small white jug and pull up, lay it to the side, you will need a long 12 mm wrench for this one.on the drivers side the nut is located just below the power steering pump...use a 12 mm socket on this one.. now slide under the car, in the back there are two nuts exactly the same as in the trunk, but they have plastic shields on them, just pull the shield to the side and remove the nuts. underneath the front you will find four bolts instead of 2 nuts. they are a bit lower than the ones under the hood, two on each side of the L bumper frame mount and two on each side of the R bumper frame mount. these are located just below the center of the headlights......unplug the turn signal bulbs...OK now you need to remove the skin...there are a bunch of plastic screws, loosen them all. Pry them out using a flat screwdriver, or just tear the old skin off, you need new ones to mount the new skin anyways....unfortunately these are only available @ your local Honda service center for $2 a piece, but it really is worth the xtra cash to have the correct part.... now put the new skin on and put the plastic mounts in....put the bumper back on the car and put all the nuts and bolts and screws where you got them from.... when hanging the front bumper back on the car be careful as you slide it in, if you don't hold the frontside higher then you'll have some nice scratches... good luck, it shouldn't take more than 20-25 minutes...

tip: if you don't have the frnt amber turn signals, or if they are damaged, don't bother replacing them....all 50 states require only one signal @ each corner of your vehicle...the front signals must be visible from the front and the sides. most Honda/acura cars are equipped with this style corner lense. and, with two less components on the circuit the resistance is lower causing your signals to flash very quickly.....just think some people actually replace the signal relay to accomplish this........????????? does anyone have a diagram of the front bumper on a 1991 Honda accord i have a car that someone had started to replace the front bumper but i am not sure all parts are there i would appreciate it very much You can purchase a CHILTON or HAYNES maintenance manaul at any bookstore or auto parts store for around $15.00. They will show you how to remove and install the bumper.

OK, the problem is - you have to use sufficient brute force to pull it off, but not so much that you break the plastic! There are 2 bolts, which are visible and obvious when you open the boot. Remove these. There are also a number of push-in lugs which are now holding the lens cluster on. The chances are that they are jammed tight, like mine were. Try rocking the lens cluster around to get a bit of a gap around the edge. Dont try to prise it off, as you will break the plastic, and it will be expensive. Try to wedge in some cardboard around the rim on the outboard side of the lens, to hold it away from the car body as much as possible. Then, get your fingers under the flange where you removed the 2 bolts - its the only part you have to pull on . Pull steadily and hard, and it should pop off. Dont hit it!

There are only 2 bolts holding it on, take them out with a 3/4 wrench and wiggle the bumper off.

There are mounting brackets that can be removed with either one or two big nuts underneth the bumper but to tell ou the truth some times when the bumper is so bad with rust its easier to just cut it apart BUT make sure you save the plastic and the frame that goes around the lisences plate good luck and if all else fails get a bigger saw LOL

It's a pretty easy process.

There are plastic retainers holding the bumper cover on right where the trunk closes at. Then there are a few in each wheel well. And there are some on the bottom of the bumper cover.

The best place to start is by taking out the bottom ones. Then the ones inside the rear fenders on each side. Then the top ones, then you should be able to then slide the bumper away from the body of the car. For extra wiggle room, you can remove the rear tail lights, this will especially help during installation. It's a straight forward job and pretty easy to do, no more than 30 min.

If you have chrome trim to transfer, then you'll spend time trying to not break the clips and will add some time to the job.
