The problem is likely one of the 5 actuators under the dash. There is one for the passenger and one for the drivers side. When you move the temp setting, you should hear them moving. If not, one may need adjusting or replacing.

Actually, they were made for a younger consumer market, at a low cost, in hopes that they would upgrade when they got older and made more money. However, that's not what ended up happening, so they stop production of them.

Because its the biggest piece of crap ever made. I have 8 pages of repairs over 7 years totaling more than $17,000. Which includes a engine and transmission replacement.

They are engineering failures and should have never been made. Made in Germany, sold in U.S., hated everywhere.

What engine? Find the serpentine belt. One of those pullies is the ac compressor. Check for a couple of aluminum lines going the back of one of those components as well as and electrical plug and you found it.

the belt you are asking about is the one on the front of the engine it turns the alternator & power steering pump.

$75 it has a computer sensor inside

A locksmith told me that if I got a key from a junked Catera, he could reprogram the chip inside and make a new key for $25.

I wouldn't disconnect the battery, you'll have to reset a lot of electronics - radio code, auto up windows, auto close sunroof, seat memory settings, etc. I simply removed my brake pad wear sensors when I replaced my front brake pads. I then had to connect a piece of paper clip to close the circuit on the wire leads quick connect assembly, holding it in place with electrical tape. No more aggrivating break pad wear indicator light....

I would think that it is just a stored code. Try disconnecting the positive battery cable from the battery for 10 seconds with the key switch on but the engine not running. This should reset the computer. If the light comes back on, the sensor may need replacement.

If you mean the "Check Brake light" , message that comes in the display , this is normal. even if you change the pads , it will not go. this is a German way to show you : please safety is very important : everytime you want to use your car check the break lights if they are ok.

what you have to do is only push the brake ,and the alarm will go.I learned this from the handbook provided with the car.

Yes you have to replace the worn pad sensor to get the Brake Wear Indicator Light to go off. The pad sensor will wear away and trigger the light. It will go off onnce you replace them. Please keep in mind that this is the Brake Wear Sensor Light and not the Brake System Warning Light. The Brake Warning Light will come on if there are Hydrualic Pressure related problems.

My '97 won't shift out of 1st gear when its cold (it will after it warms up). I found that pushing the "S" button will enable it to shift when cold. It has worked every time so far.

Will it start after setting awhile? Check the crank shaft sensor.

Step 1. Remove the two screws at the top of the outer panel that holds it in place. Step 2. Snap out the panel. Step 3. Remove the two screws that hold the cluster in place. The screws are located at both edges. Step 4. Carefully remove the cluster. Be careful not to damage the wire harness located at the back of the cluster. There should be about 3 or 4 bulbs in sockets that "lock" into place at the back of the cluster. Step 5. Remove the bulbs sockets by turning them counter-clockwise and removing them. Step 6. Remove the bulbs from the sockets. Take the bulbs to your auto store and get matching bulbs. Toyota also sells them for about $3.00 for a pack of 2. Reverse the above to replace. Good luck.

Generally if the engine has a knock you need to have the lifters adjusted and at that point the gaskets could be replaced. Good Luck and Remember.

Henry Ford Actually, Cadillac was founded by Henry M. Leland, who was one of Henry Ford's top engineers. When the "Henry Ford Company" (not to be confused with the Ford Motor Company) was dissolved, Leland, partnered with William Murphy and Lemuel Bowen, used the companies machinery to produce a car using Leland's one cylinder engine, powering a Ford designed vehicle. That car was to be named Cadillac.

What I did.

Remove wheel, place floor jack under axle assembly (so the rotor will not turn), jack up the assembly so as to take the full weight of the car. I used heavy plumbers tape to thread through the coil springs so as to go inside and outside in four different places from top to bottom, pulling the tape as tight as possible and bolt through the holes in two different holes with 1/4" bolts and nuts w/washers. Slowly lower the floor jack, allowing the tape to take the full tension of the coil springs. disconnect the struts and while they are laying on the ground/floor, remove the coils and place them on the new struts and install, then jack up the assembly and remove the plumbers tape. Done.

When the transmission light would come on, it usually menas that there is an issue. On mine, it would come on when the transmission got hot. A lot of times once the computer detects a problem, it will run the transmission in a "safe mode". This mode feels like you have no lower gears, and when you start from a stop or low speed, it is the same as starting in 3rd or 4th gear. This is designed to protect the tranny from any unnecessary or further damage until you can get it looked at. In my instance, the transmission cooling lines where plugged and collapsed and therefore the cooling circuit was inadequate. Unfortunately, the tranny had seen too much heat already and required rebuild..Hope this helps and good luck !!

The 1999 Cadillac thermostat can be found on the front of the engine. The thermostat will be inside of the thermostat housing. You can follow the top radiator hose directly to the thermostat housing.

If you are talking about the arm rest lid, you have to remove the screws at the hinge. If you are talking about the base, it is part of the console and requires more work.

On the passenger side, under the dash.

It likely is the heater control valve on the back of the engine. It is a poor design and I have replaced it twice in 110K miles. The cost at the dealer is $290 to replace. The Saab has the same poor design I am told by the Dealer.
