How do you fix a leaky brake line on a 1981 Datsun 4x4 truck?

Unfortunately, there is no "fix" for a leaky brake line other than completely replacing it. Brake lines are under extreme pressure and NOTHING will stop the leak. Attempts at patching a brake line only endanger the occupants in the vehicle when it busts free (and it will)posing a crash hazard. If you have very thick soled shoes, and a very strong left leg, you might try opening the drivers door and dragging your foot. Otherwise, PLEASE have a qualified technician replace that brake line!

What would cause the heater to blow cold air out on both sides of a 2001 Grand Jeep Cherokee?

The HeaterTreater is an after market kit that solves heater and AC for the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Laredo. It is much cheaper than the dealership fix and is easy to install. For diagnosis and info, check out www.heatertreater.net or search eBay for "heatertreater".

Your 1998 astro rear heater blows cold air what could be wrong with it and how do you fix it?

On the Astro and Safari vans, there is a vacuum control valve on the engine side of the firewall that controls the flow of water to the rear heater. Looking from the front of the van, it is on the left (passenger) side of the engine about 12 inches below the hood line. When you turn the rear heater on, the valve opens to allow hot water to go to the rear heater. If your van has lost vacuum pressure, the valve will not open properly. You will probably also notice that the airflow director for the front heating/cooling system will not change positions. This loss of vacuum pressure is usually caused by a broken or disconnected vacuum line. Find and repair the break or reconnect the line and this should restore function to both systems. If the airflow director for the front system is working, then the valve itself may have failed. You can either replace the valve. A quick fix is to remove the water lines from both sides of the valve and use a 3/8" plastic connector from the hardware store to connect the two lines. Use two clamps to secure the hoses to the fitting and you should be back in business. For a picture of the valve, go to http://www.napaonline.com and search for part # BK 6601320.

Why does the heater not blow hot in a 1997 dodge stratus?

It is possible that the thermostat is stuck open, thus not allowing the engine to reach sufficient higher temperatures for proper heating, or the water pump may be too slow (or stuck) to allow the proper coolant circulation through the heater unit, or the switch/flap "controls" (or vacuum system) to the heater unit may be faulty (or stuck) so as never to engage into "heat" mode, or the heating unit/coils may be so clogged that it is no longer effective for giving off hot heat, even though the coolant temperature itself is hot enough, or you may have the wrong thermostat for that vehicle (thermostats have different operating temperatures per specific vehicle).

Do cars blow up?

Depends on what's inside.

Normal car with only gasoline for fuel: no. Gasoline must be vaporized to explode. Otherwise it just burns slowly at the surface.

Hydrogen power car with full hydrogen tank: yes.

Car with dynamite in the trunk: yes.

Cars in movies: yes.

Why would a truck heater only blow cold air?

The heater core is blocked, or a heater hose has collapsed, keeping hot engine coolant from getting to the core. The "blend air" door may be stuck in the open position, keeping warm air from circulating, and dumping in cold outside air. I am assuming that engine coolant and water pump is good.

Why would a Pontiac Sunbird only blow cold air when the heater is on and the temperature gauge run super hot but the car does not overheat?

It sounds to me like the heater core is out. Have you noticed the floor wet recently? that's a sure sign of heater core issues. The other option is it will act like that if it has no antifreeze or water in the radiator, in other words the radiator is dry.

Just a suggestion if someone has replaced the thermostat its possible they installed it pointing in the wrong direction this could account for cold air and the guage reading over hot. , EzForJesus

What do you suggest you check on a 1988 Honda accord dx that blows cold air when the heater is on.?

If the engine is not getting to operating temperature replace your thermostat( located at the lower end of the top radiator hose in the water outlet on engine. If the engine IS reaching operating temp, take your hand and feel both heater hoses( they are 1/2"+ hoses that go thru firewall on pass side) both need to be hot; if only one is hot your heater core is plugged and you can flush it. I hope this helps you. Mark

Car heater blows cool air after 30 min Turn it up a little and blows hot air again only to go cool after about 5 min Heater will only maintain hot air if maxed out on hottest setting WH?

Hi, Same person who asked question, let me re-ask.

Some facts first.

Bought car in summer, so never tried heat till now. Dont know if I bought this car with an existing problem.

Had leaky heater core, replaced heater core O-rings almost after buying car, never used heat before then.

Dont know if heater core leaked onto ECM, located directly under Heater Core

I drive to work with the heat on 80. About 30 min later, the heat cuts out and blows cool air. I'll turn the heat up incrementally to which the heat comes back on, but only for a few minutes, and goes cold again. The only way I will have constant heat is if I max the heat out on 90. If I turn it down to 89, it will blow cool again. Please help.

Why does your heater blows cold then hot then cold then hot?

It is because your heater is having to heat up so its blowing cold air out while its heating up.This means your heater is not very efficient and it needs to be checked.

Why would you get no heat-defrost in a 93 Ford Taurus if the blower is working and there is no leak?

See "Related Questions" below for ideas on fixing Taurus/Sable no-heat problemsAnswer
Make sure you have vacuum going in the cab from the engine. The vacuum line runs from the intake to the reservoir, which is a round plastic ball looking thing, and into the cab.

AnswerFeel the 2 heater hoses coming from the firewall - since the coolant runs through the heater core all the time, BOTH of the hoses should be hot.

If one is not, that's a key indicator the core is plugged/obstructed.

Why would my car overheat but the heater blows cold air?

You should check your water level. It's low, and you have a leak. Get someone to check it for you.

The heater in your car works off the water from your radiator, no water in the radiator will over heat the engine ergo top up the water.

Could also be low antifreeze level causing water in radiator to freeze making the engine overheat and the heater to blow cold air.

You have an airlock. If you have a system with expansion/filler tank then check the return pipe is not blocked. These systems bleed themselves if there are no blockages.

Mine was because the impeller in the water pump had disintegrated to the point where it would not move the water. The water would overheat, but the hot water would not get moved into the heater core to blow hot air. I replaced the water pump and it all works now.

Why does my car overheat and the heater blows warm and cold air?

Theres a couple of things that can cause this. First, check ALL the hoses to be sure you dont have a leak. make sure the radiator and reservoir are not leaking. Then you need to check the thermostat. The easiest way i know to do this is run the engine to normal temp, providing you can do this without overheating.

there are two hoses coming out of your radiator, one is coolant to the engine, one is the warm coolant back to the radiator. Touch them both, CAREFULLY DO NOT GET BURNT or hurt by any other engine parts such as the engine fan!. if one of them is WAY cooler than the other your thermostat is stuck and you need to replace it.

You may have a head gasket blown,if you are losing coolant and do not see any puddles, like this coolant has "mysteriously vanished" get this checked out!

another possibility if your heater core is shot, if its not the thermostat, your hoses are all intact and your radiator and reservoir are not leaking, this is likely your problem.

OR, you may have a water pump problem, if you have a large puddle under your engine, not near the radiator, get this checked by a professional mechanic ASAP.

you can cause serious damage running a car hot.
