A very common problem is a broken temperature door in the dash. This is an extremely labor intensive repairs. See TEMPERATURE DOOR below...

The thermostat may be stuck open.
Why would the car heater not blow any air?
what is the make and model and can you hear the blower motor running
Engine overheats When a car or truck overheats idling, in town, on the highway, while towing, etc. it is important to find out the reason to prevent engine damage. First, with the engine cold, make sure the radiator is full of coolant; if it is low, fill it and keep the radiator cap off while the engine idles to insure all air is bled out of the system. Check the coolant level daily; if the coolant goes down without visible leaks, it may be a head gasket starting to leak which will also cause the heater to blow cold air due to the lack of available coolant. If the coolant stays full, but the car continues to overheat, the next step is to replace the thermostat in the engine and flush the cooling system if that has not been done over the last few years.Buy a thermostat at a parts store and a PRESTONE flush kit which has excellent directions on the package. After completing these steps and the vehicle still overheats, have your cooling fan sensor/switch ( if equipped)checked out to insure it is coming on. Water pumps are seldom the cause as they are mechanical and will continue to work until their bearings give out. Finally, the radiator itself is often the problem as it tends to build up corrosion internally which prevents it from transfering engine heat to the coolant. Remove it and have it 're-cored'. One of these steps will solve the problem.
How do you fix your heater if it is not blowing in a 2002 cadillac serville SLS?
Have somone hold a hot cup of water and blow it towards you. This will keep you a little warm. It would be bad if the person had bad breath.
Its possible that the oily fumes are from your a/c system..some models use same evaporator core for heater and a/c..if there is a rupture in the core, oil will be carried by the blower into your car interior..check your 134a or 12 refrigerant levels of the a/c and test pressures, if low or no press. theres your problem..hint: the a/c oil has a foul smel.. luck It sounds as if you have a heater core leaking. If you check the carpeting over on the passenger front side of the car, it will probably be wet. The fumes you are smelling are ethylene glycol, and the mist does not feel good in your lungs.
Your 1997 SC1 Saturn heater works but does not blow hot enough what could be wrong?
Sticking thermostat could cause this. If the thermostat is stuck open, it never gives the engine a chance to fully heat the coolant. Follow the top radiator hose to the engine, remove the hose and remove what it hooks to and there's your thermostat.
You most likely have a bad vacuum hose in the engine compartment or a bad control switch.
Why does heater not blow hot air on 1997 trans am on real cold days?
Thermostat stuck partially open or heater core clogged. Drain and flush the entire cooling system. Replace the thermostat. Install a 50/50 mix of fresh antifreeze and distilled water, and bleed air from the system.
Your 2001 JGC will not blow hot AC works fine but there is no heat even when turned up to HI?
Check if heater hoses were removed they run from the front of the engine to the firewall on the passenger side. Hope it helps
Needs a tune-up, and bad blower motor.
Im going to assume that you have a vacuum operated mix door since there is no other explanation for the door closing when you slow down. Having said that now you need to look for a vacuum leak between the mix door and the intake manifold, it could be a cracked tube or it may have gotten loose where it connects and when the vacuum supply lessens ( such as when you idle down )it loses its seal.
My 1997 Ford Explorer heater is on hot at all times and when AC is also turn on it blows hot?
It is most certainly a broken blend door. Typically to fix this problem, a mechanic will disassemble the entire dash, and replace the plenum box. Unfortunately this is an expensive fix because it is labor and parts intensive. There is a DIY solution called heatertreater. They provide instructions on how to access the blend door by removing the glove box, and replacing the blend door without removing the dash and plenum assembly. Broken blend doors are a common problem among Ford explorers, and most heating and A/C issues in late model Ford explorers are directly caused by a malfunctioning blend door.

Why does a car heater blow cool air when the accelerator pedal is not depressed?
my theory is when u accellerate, ur water pupm pumps the water round ur engine at a higher speed than normal. as ur engine is just "tickin over" the pump is still pumpin water round the engine but the engine is working less so produces less heat therefore, water cools by the time it gets to heater matrix as it flows slower. i might be wrong but that's the theory i have had for over a year n im yet to see a different explanation to why it happens.
Why is your heater blowing out cold air when your engines temp is warm?
I had the same problem with mine. It was the thermostat, it was sticking and would not open until the engine got very warm and would force the thermostat to pop open, then the car would fill with warm air until the engine got back within operating temps or cooler, then it would stick shut again.
Diagram of a cars heating system?
A diagram of a cars heating system can be found at most auto-parts stores. The diagram can also be found at the automobile dealership.
Why would the heater stop blowing warm air in a 1985 Olds Delta 88?
My 85 did the same thing ,replace the heater core . john == another thought== Check first if fuse is blown, then pull fan blower motor, take and connect to proper power source and see if blower works, then check see if hoses are connected to heater core before removal, sometimes there is a valve to turn off flow to core. And sometimes during summer hose from pump to block to bypass heat. Then check make sure theromostat is correct, have seen these put in backwards. If all else fails before pulll core do a back flush,a lot of junk gets into core. ____________________________ Also, if your car has the auto climate controls, check the heat sink.
Why does blower only blow air threw the floor vent on my 2000 gmc safari?

With my car, it was Heater matrix clogged with radiator sealant. The workshop cleaned it and it's start working fine!
