Why would the emergency brake be on if the light is off?
You E-Brake could be stuck on, or rusted on to itself, or you may have a broken brake cable. The brake may "technically" be released, but the actual brake may be stuck.
Could also be a bad sensor.
You may also have a blown brake light. Check to see if it goes on for a few seconds when starting the car
EDIT: The brake light is also designed in some cars to warn you of low brake fluid. Check your manuel about your dash lights.
How do you fix it Cylinder 5 and 3 when it misfires?
If it's JUST misfiring on cylinders 5 and 3, run a compression test.
If the compression is down you'll need to remove the heads and inspect for damage or worn valves.
Since you didn't specify what kind of engine, I can only assume either a V6 or V8, and many "V" configuration engines have all even cylinders on one side and odd on the other.
If I can make an assumption, I would assume that the cylinders that are misfiring are adjacent to each other, giving a little more concern that it might be a failed head-gasket, but you won't know until the head is removed.
But again, check the compression first.
If compression is up across all cylinders, focus on electrical. Some engines used "coil packs" which caused a single coil to fire two cylinders. If that's the case you could have a problem with the coil pack or the electronics that fire it.
Why when my Abs brakes get warm on a 86 Mark the the steering wheel shakes?
Sounds like your rotors need to be turned (replaced if necessary). Does the shake happen worse when braking at higher speeds? Id recommend you pull the rotors off and check for variances in thickness with a proper guage, get them turned, and go from there.
AnswerI agree. Sounds like the rotors are warpped.I've had this problem and it turned out it was a bad caliper Do any of the wheels smoke when you stop ? Do you have a strong smell from any of the wheels? I would check to see if any of the wheels are locked up or rotate harder than should be.
Why would your engine shake vibrate some days and not others?
check your motor mounts if not than it might not be your motor but the pavment your driving on.

How do you change camshaft sensor 2003 stratus 2.4 liter?
Follow the below steps to replace the camshaft sensor 2003 stratus:
1) Loosen the two bolts securing the air inlet resonator, the large plastic component that the air filter outlet tube connects to, using a ratchet and socket. Now, pull the air filter outlet tube from the air filter housing.
2) Pull the oil separator tube from the air filter outlet tube using a slight twisting motion. Remove the air filter outlet tube and resonator from the engine compartment, exposing the camshaft position sensor.
3) Unplug the camshaft position sensor's wiring harness. Remove the screws securing the camshaft position sensor using a ratchet and socket.
4) Remove the screw securing the camshaft magnet to the camshaft using a ratchet and Allen-bit
socket. Then, pull the magnet from the end of the camshaft.
5) Line up the dowel pins on the new camshaft magnet, which comes with the new camshaft position sensor, with the locating holes on the end of the camshaft; then, place the camshaft sensor back onto the cylinder head in the same position it was in prior to removal.
6) Press the air filter outlet tube onto the outlet on the air filter box, then tighten the hose clamp to between 20 and 30 inch-pounds.
Guide the resonator's hose onto the inlet on the throttle body and tighten the hose clamp to between 20 and 30 inch-pounds.
7) Set the resonator in place on top of the engine, aligning its bolt holes with those on top of the engine.
What would cause a 2005 Impala to jerk when you accelerate from a complete stop?
2005 3.4L Chevy Impala 1. "http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_would_cause_a_2005_Impala_to_jerk_when_you_accelerate_from_a_complete_stop"It kinda acts like it has a stall converter installed. It only does it when i take off from a complete stop. 2. I installed a cold air intake and a Mass Airr Flow sensor that was tunned for cold air intake 6 months ago and never got a check engine code. Now Im getting a code saying that the intake and MAS sensor is causing it to run rich. Are there any steps a can do or check before buying a new sensor. Are there any other parts or things i should check to make sure its tha MAS sensor. Thank You, Bobby
What causes steering wheel to vibrate?
Bad tire or alignment is most common. It can also be caused by a warped brake rotor or drum.
What could cause a car to shudder upon acceleration?
I have not had experience with fuel injected vehicles, assuming yours is, but I have experienced such a thing on many occasions with carburated vehicles. On such, plugged jets in the carburetor actually cause the vehicle to shudder when under load. If the vehicle is fuel injected and hasen't been serviced recently you may want to have this checked out.
Another AnswerIf an automatic vehicle and feels like you're driving over a cattle guard, good chance it's the torque converter that's going out. If so, it doesn't happen so much if you take off from a stop and continue a constant and somewhat aggressive acceleration. It also happens every time if going through a school zone at 35ish for a while, then trying to speed up. That's a torque converter unable to lock up. When you feel it, back off the gas! If that torque converter does come apart inside, your car is going nowhere.Although this is a general question, I'll help clarify the specific situation that caused me to ask: I have a 2000 Maxima that rumbles violently at highway speeds, but less so--if at all--when steering to the right. There is an audible rumbling sound that is very loud and low frequency, much like tires on gravel or rough asphault. The effect is abscent below 30, noticable at 50, and violent at 70. i had that problem with my civic it was the wheel barring
i had the same problem with it not starting or if it did start then it would shut off...my dad replaced the sparkplugs thinking it was those, nope it wasn't...it was the fuel filter! we replaced it and it worked like new...but now as a few years passed once in awhile when we had some cold nights the next morning it struggles to start. when it did it the last time, we banged on the fuel pump gently with a rubber mallite a few times and it started right up. so my fuel pump might be going. So i would say it could be ur fuel filter or ur fuel pump. i hope this helps u!
What causes brake rotors to get groves?
In general, normal wear can cause the rotors to become groved. The pads wear "into" the rotor during regular use. At some point, the rotors may need to be turned or replaced, and the pads may need to be replaced. Both the turning/replacing of the rotors and the replacment of the brake pads is done at the same time. Few if any professionals will attempt to "short cut" a brake job by just doing one thing.
What makes the steering wheel shake?
Normally this is caused by a tire out of balance. It can also be caused by a defective tire. Have the tires inspected, balanced, and rotated.
The area on a spark plug where the spark takes place. Spark plug gap is the distance that energy must breech to complete an electrical circuit. It varies fron manufacturer to manufacturer but plug gap must be correct to within .003" to meet spec. Any plug that is out of spec. more than .003" should be replaced. Regular maintaince dictates this interval, any plug left too long during the course of service, that excedies OEM spec. can (and will) cause premature ignition system failure. The larger the spark jump the more energy required, the more energy required, more heat is produced. Car igition systems operate at 50,000 + volts. Thousands of an inch can leave you stranded. Most importantly, modern DIS (ignition) systems can cost hundereds of dollars to fix when pushed beyond intended threshold. GM Licensed Mechanic, Ryan
broken belt in a tire probably due to bad allignment
2000 Camry's engine shaking when car is stopped and transmission is in drive position?
Bad motor mounts and needs a tune up probably
Why car shakes at 35 mph or 40 mph?
perhaps it is bad hub bearing
Tire out of balance, loose lug nuts, worn or loose wheel bearing, defect in a tire, etc.
Why does your steering wheel vibrate at low speeds and the car pulls to the left?
Your car needs an alignment. Typically around $100 or less.
What would cause your car to shake when you start it and when you stop at a light?
check motor mounts
Car has been parked for a while now motor shakes the whole car?
replace spark plugs or check under distributor cap for moistore
What does a submarine type light mean?
If by "submarine" you mean an icon that looks like a submarine's Periscope sticking out of the water, this is likely the coolant temperature warning light (it's supposed to be an old glass tube thermometer dipped into the water). This can mean your engine is getting too hot and needs to cool down, or you run the risk of causing severe damage. This can sometimes happen if driving in very hot weather and putting a lot of load on the engine.
Check if the coolant level is low. If you do need to add more coolant to the engine, drive it a round for a bit afterward and recheck the coolant level. If it is low again, you have a coolant leak which needs to get fixed PRONTO.
It is important that you do NOT open the coolant cap while the engine is still hot as heated coolant can often be under a lot of pressure and can spray very hot liquid everywhere, which can (and probably will) burn you if the cap itself doesn't.
If the coolant level is fine, and your engine uses an electric fan to draw air through the radiator, make sure the fan is going when the engine is running.
If this light comes on frequently, and the coolant level and radiator fan are both fine, you should take it in for service ASAP as something else is causing the engine to run hotter than it should.
First of all, if the check engine light is "ON" then that would be the place to start. If the fuel filter has not been replaced in the last 2 years then I would do that.
I could be wrong here but are you "kangeroo jumping" as in failing to use the clutch properly when changing gears thus the car lurches, this could be a result of a worn out clutch OR gearbox.
