Why would my lights work but my 2000 dodge ram 1500 won't start?
If the lights are bright, the starter may have failed. If the lights are dim and the starter turns over slowly (RRRRrrr . . .) the battery my need to be charged. If the lights are bright and the starter cranks normally, failures in the ignition system may be the cause.
The engine needs a strong battery with clean, tight connections, fuel and spark. You are missing one of those.
one way to do it s to get an in depth service manual and take a multimeter to the electrical system or you could just unplug the spark plugs but not remove them, and plug in a set of spare plus into the spark plug wires and ground them to check for a spark. if it is sparking just fine, then it could be a timing or a fuel problem or the engine could just not be spinning fast enough to start
Why doesn't my 95 Toyota Camry start in park but starts in neutral?
The neutral safety switch is either not adjusted properly or is defective
is the starter staying engaged? It will make that sound once, and then when you try to start it again it starts just fine.
Why does my Chevy s-10 stop won't start for a while eventually does start again?
sound like when it heats up it shuts off and then when it cools down it starts back up that would be your engine temperature sensor
What causes your car's heater to shut off by itself?
If it shuts off then comes back on later it's almost certainly the switch... but.
Never replace anything until you've checked it. Put a test light/meter on the heater motor then run it until the motor shuts off, then look at the meter. If the voltage is zero, or practically zero, it's the switch. If the voltage is up near normal (12.5 - 14) it's probably the motor.

How do you change the starter on a 1994 GMC Sonoma 2.2?
I have a 96 2.2 and had to drop the exhaust from the manifold in order to change the starter. and goos luck.
not really it depends on what took place when it happen but, that fuse for the instrument dash lighting is located under the dash board by the parking brake. change it out and see what happen
Start by having the fuel filter changed.
I have a 2003 that gave me the same problem. Check the manual. In my case I had to turn the ignition to on and leave it for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes you turn it to off position and then you can turn it back on and start.
Have a tooth broken off of crankshaft sprocket Will that prevent engine from starting?
The Timing chain may or may not slip with a missing tooth on the crankshaft. But i think the car would probably run. May be pretty noisy too.
Why does it take more amperage to start a car than it does to run a car?
An engine is typically started by operating an electric motor (the starter,) which spins to crank over the gas engine. Because of the amount of compression in the cylinders, it takes a large amount of torque to get the engine cranking. In order to crank the engine fast enough to start, the starter needs a lot of amperage (or current) to apply the amount of torque required.
Generally speaking, a starter can draw 250 amps or more to start the engine.
Once the engine is running, a generator or alternator takes over and recharges the battery as well as powers all of the necessary electrical circuits in the car. To keep the engine running, the alternator must provide power to what is known as a coil. The coil takes 12v from the power source and converts it to as much as 12,000 volts through a phenomenon called "induction", which fires the spark plugs.
So whether a car is starting or running, there is dangerously high amperage running through the car at all times.
Why will Nissan Pathfiner 2002 won't start?
There are probably a million reasons why your pathfinder won't start. One that I ran into was a faulty key. Each key is microchipped to work with the computer. Mine wasn't "flashed" properly.. The truck would turn over but not start.
Car wont start after running out of gas?
If your car won\'t start after running out of gas it could be that the fuel pump was damaged.
What do you need to check if a car won't start after it has been parked for several months?
The first thing you want to check is your battery state of charge. If your car has been sitting that long, I can almost guarantee that your battery is dead. If it's been sitting that long, your best bet is to replace the battery.
My car wont start. it has battery every time i attempt to start it will not.?
maybe the terminal connection (wire) of the battery is not properly tighten or rather check too...the starter gadgets..
What kind of car would help. Burning smell is probably a shorted wire. Why it shorted is the next question. Blew one or more fuses or possible a fuse-able link. Has any work been done on the car? Stereo or alarm installed? That would be the first place to look for a short if you don't see something. Which fuse is blown, if there is one, can point you in the right direction.
The fuel system is blocked.Clean up the injectors.
What cleans corrosion off battery terminals?
Baking soda/water will neutralize. You can use a wire brush on terminals or one of those post cleaners with wire inside (if you have posts) Sandpaper works too. Also, if you put a copper penny between & can keep it there, the corrosion will attack it vs terminals.
Why is bike making a clicking noise but not starting?
You have to put your feet on the pedals... then push down to roll forward and move your feet in a circular pattern while steering with the handlebars. The clicking may be your chain rubbing on the derailer
