We have a Tundra that the 'maint needed' light comes on. It is programmed to come on every 5000 miles as a reminder. This is how we reset ours: 1. Turn key to accessory port only (where everything comes on, but the engine does not) 2. Push reset button to change from the 'trip meter' to your odometer reading. Press and HOLD the button while odometer reading is diplayed. DON'T LET GO OF THE RESET BUTTON. 3. Turn key off while STILL HOLDING THE RESET BUTTON. 4. Turn key back on to the accessory port again WHILE STILL HOLDING THE RESET BUTTON. The odometer reading should change to a 00000000 or ----------. 5. You are now done. The light will come back on in 5000 miles again to remind you to change oil and ?????

This questin is very broad, and the author simply needs to narrow down the problem by getting the trouble code, and the interpretation of the code.

I took mine in twice to get it looked at and was finally told that it goes on when you first start the car but then eventually goes off. I was also told that blue lights don't mean anything and it's the orange one's you have to worry about. Answer The engine coolant light can show either blue or yellow. Blue indicates the engine is not up to temperature and yellow/amber indicates an overheat condition. If the indicator never leaves the blue state (goes dark) you should get the cooling system checked (stuck thermostat?) If it turns amber find a safe pull off and shut off the car and let it cool down. (stop car symbol in the owner's manual.)

If the coolant light is flashing blue it means that you have a faulty coolant sensor, there are two coolant sensors and one of them is very cheap and needs to be replaced. Do check your coolant level and make sure not to over fill, check when engine is cold.
i have the same problem with mine did you find out what was wrong The first message, the single flash, is your oxygen sensor. Error Code 1. Error Code 16 is fuel injection related. They tell me it's usually Main Relay related, but if you can go 70mph we can rule that out--a broken Main Relay keeps the car from starting. I would like you to do two things. First, open the hood and unplug the electrical connector from each fuel injector, then plug it back in. If you've got an injector that's not quite making contact, this will fix that. Then run a bottle of Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner through it. It could be clogged. Then again, just changing your oxygen sensor could clear up both problems. Stranger things have happened.

How do you reset the service engine soon light on your 2002 infiniti i35?
1. Sit in the driver's seat and turn the ignition switch ON, but don't start it.
2. Wait exactly 3 seconds.
3. Quickly push the accelerator down fully (and fully release it) 5 times in less than 5 seconds.
4. With your foot away from the accelerator, wait exactly 7 seconds.
5. Push and hold the accelerator for 10 seconds until the CEL/SES light starts to flash. Wait a bit, and if it doesn't start to flash a moment after that 10 seconds, turn the ignition off and try again until you get it right. You may have to try a few times.I used my head but you may prefer a timer or a watch.
6. Fully release the accelerator pedal while the SES light is still blinking.
7. Wait 10 seconds.
8. Full press accelerator down for MORE THAN 10 seconds this time, then full release the pedal. (SES Light will continue blinking)
9. Immediately turn the ignition switch to “OFF” position, then after a couple seconds start the car. The SES will be off!

The flashing light will tell you the 4 digit fault code, but all I wanted to do was reset the SES warning light after I had a backyard mechanic perform the necessary work.
How to Reset Volvo 240 check engine light?
For a 1993 Volvo 240 DL refer to the On Board Diagnostic under the hood:
There is a small black box under the hood on the left fender well (driver side) near the hood spring. This box has a cover on it with a probe in a holder. Remove the probe from the cover and put it into hole #2. Turn the key on.
There is a button in that black box that needs to be pressed for a second or two then let up. A red light will start flashing a code. write this down. The flashes will be something like 1-2-1 or 2-3-1 or what ever. After it's done push the button again and record the next code. If it's the same code as the first this means there is only one code. If it's different then you must push the button again and record the code. do this until you get back to the first code.
Now you should know what the first and last codes are. Now start the process again. this time after you read the last code, hold the button down for at least 10 seconds and wait for the light to come on and then push it once again when the light is on, for a second or two. you should be done.
To check it you can once again start the process, if you get 1-1-1 it's cleared. Start the car and the Check Engine Light should be off.
