How much does the labor cost to change the water pump on a 1999 Chevy Astro van?

I just had the water pump changed on my 99 astro and it cost about $330.

= Answer ==

3 Hours labor plus parts cost: Parts and Labor vary based upon your location: From 20 dollars per hour to over 100 dollars per hour (Dealership or a Local sideline Mechanic) Parts are much the same.

At a minimum it would more than likely cost $100.00 and go up from there.

adding to answer..

just replace one on 97 astro.. pump was $45.00 new at parts house.. took me close to 4 hrs more or less with taking old pump with fan assem to get removed getting new hose, idler and tensioner pullys total cost was 143.00 for parts.

$330 is a real good number for getting just water pump removed.. more if you do other stuff while they have the fan shroud off, belt off, .. replacing hoses, belts, tensoiner and idler pulleys etc.

How do you replace a rear window regulator on a 2002 Hyundai Accent?

Changing a window regulator on a HyundaiI have a 2002 Accent with power windows. May work on other models.

The tools you will need:

A #2 Phillips head screwdriver. A Standard head screwdriver. A 10mm Socket and ratchet.

First take out all of the screws in the door panel. There is one in the handle that opens the door, and 2 in the door panel handle. Use the flat screwdriver to pop off the covers. Taking out the door handle is a little tricky. Slide it towards the front of the car and pull out. You might not get it the first try. Once you get the handle out enough, you will be able to see 2 metal rods connecting to it(towards the back of the car). Using the standard screwdriver, pull the plastic piece(either blue or red) towards you and it should unclip from the rod. Next, pick up on the rods and they should come out of the handle. Once all screws and the door handle are removed, you can take off the panel.

To remove the door panel, simply pull it off, starting at the bottom of the door and prying your fingers between the panel and the door. You will hear a series of pops. You didn't break anything. If it doesn't come fairly easy, don't pull too hard. You may have missed a screw. Once the panel swings freely on the window slot, get it close to the door and pick up, as the top rests in the window slot. If you have power windows, you will have to unclip the wires going to the switch.

Once the panel is off, drop the window and remove the 2 Phillips screws holding the window on the track. After the window is off, tape it up so it is out of your way. Next, take the socket and remove the 3 nuts holding the window motor, (towards the front of the car, in the middle), and then the three(maybe four) that hold the metal track in place. Once those are off, good luck getting out the hole in the bottom of the door. It will not free fall in the door as the stud screws are attached to the motor and regulator. You will also have to disconnect the motor wire. Once it is out of the door, there are 3 screws or bolts that hold the motor to the regulator. take those out and the motor should slide off easily. Then do it in reverse to put it back together.

Why does your 1994 mustang gt wipers do not shut off?

Either the park switch (usually within the windshield wiper motor) is bad, not letting the wiper park, or the intermittent wiper control is bad, not letting it shut off. Another possibility is a bad ground.

What is wrong with a 1998 Chevrolet Astro van that has blinking security light and will not start?

Your problem is being caused by the GM Passlock security system. It basically monitors your ignition keyswitch to determine if it has been turned without the proper key inserted. However, this system can begin to operate erratically as the vehicle ages (and the keylock cylinder has been turned numerous times). The owner's manual recommends calling GM roadside assistance for immediate help, or taking the vehicle to a GM dealer for repair. This system can be (and must be) overriden when installing a "remote start" system on your car. I know folks who have purchased the override module just for the purpose of removing the security feature due to its erratic operation.

+++++

read up on the system and check all the basics... everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the local library should have a SHOP manual available in the reference section--make copies of the right info and read up..you'll be a pro in no time ...good luck:)

Where is the reset button located for the fuel pump on a 2000 Chevy astro van?

There isn't one. Chevy doesn't use inertial switches for their fuel pumps. There is a relay in the fuse box, but it's not "re-setable"

How do you change your fuel pump on your 1993 Pontiac transport van?

You will have to drop the fuel tank & quicker if you have two people to work on it. It doesn't take long if you stay on it til finish. It is best to start after you have run the tank to E so it won't be as heavy when u drop the tank. Disconnect both fuel lines from the Fuel-Sender-Unit (A metal pipe/lid/pump-holder that is on top of the tank. If the FSU is rusty the "quick-disconnection fitting will not come off (don't force them), then simply disconnect at the Fuel filter (about 2 feet away) and unclip the lines from the underbody. Unhook the wiring, Fill hose, and vent hose. Prop the tank up with scrap lumber and then remove the 4 bolts holding the tank. Remove the wood to lower the tank and drag it out from under the the transport. The tank is Plastic just like most modern gas cans. The FSU and its locking plate are not. Its a rotating lock, (use WD40 if necessary) and lift out the FSU. The pump will be sitting in the FSU, unplug it, and you can wiggle it off. Drain tank fully, add new pump to FSU, and reinstall into car in reverse.

Why would a 1997 Mazda 626 LX V4 start overheating and after driving for 3-4 minutes?

Hey Nachiket==It is probably the cooling fans. Have them checked out, GoodluckJoe

Answerthe prooblem most probably is the water pump which might be leaking. U need to replace the water pump.sometimes u cannot make the leakage through u r naked eye check if u r loosing coolant if u r then there must be a hole in the pump which needs to be replaced. AnswerIt seems too short a time for the coolant to truly get hot enough to overheat. you may have a blown head gasket which is blowing gasses into the coolant system, which gives the voilent torbulence in the cooling system. This will push out coolant under xs pressure as a normally overheating scinario. Standing still while idling should cause the same effect. OralB. AnswerCheck the following: 1) There are these inexpensive radiator repair kits. Use one and see if that fixes it the problem other wise it will mark the leaking area and have that repaired. 2) Check water pump. The easy way is to run the car and see if the coolant gets collected in the reservoir bottle after some time. It that does not happen that means the pump is out. 3) See if the thermostat is working. If the car gets so hot so quickly, I think that is because the thermostat is not working and needs to be changed. You can buy one for under 50 USD. 4) Also check if the radiator cap is not leaking; if that is happening, then the pressure is not sealed properly and the steam leaks out. Just change the cap in that case and the problem would be fixed. 5) Check is the smoke from the silencer is steamy. In that case your car is burning coolant and many need new gasket.

There are several reasons for the engine to knock when it gets hot. Check all the leads, see if all the spark plugs are good. See if the radiator housing is secure etc.

AnswerSounds like your head gasket is blown and most probably your termostat is gone too. Check or replace water pump, termostat and gaskets, and revise radiator's hoses and make sure fans are working while overheat. AnswerThe first and most important thing to check is the water level in your radiator! The level could be low due to a leak or just poor maintenance.

If the level is ok the next things to check would be;

1. sticking thermostat,

2. electric fans not operating,

3. timing too advanced.

Any of these things would cause the engine to heat rather quickly.

If these are ok then check for;

1. faulty waterpump,

2. blown head gasket or cracked head.

While either of these problems will cause overheating, it is unlikely to occur in 3-4 minutes.

Answerok, I have been reading though this and i noticed no one mentioned to actually check that the car is overheating. to do this its simple, if you are not loosing coolant, if you are not then your car might not be overheating you might have a faulty coolant temperature sensor.

1992 astro van how do you remove rear inside door panel when door is locked lock is broken?

In my 1990 Astro van, removing the rear door panel to get to the door lock/handle assembly was eay. Remove the rear seat and remove the Phillips screws in the right rear door panel. Reach up into the door and manually open the door, once open, you remove the access panel in the jam of the door to jain access to the door lock and handle assembly.

========

I have a 1992 cargo Astro EXT, and a 1994 Suncraft conversion Astro. My 1992 van was built in the USA; my Starcraft was built in Mexico and is about 2 inches shorter from the back of the front seats to the inside panel on the rear doors.

If you have a short "standard" Astro (non-EXT) and stock rear seat, then removing the rear seat could possibly be necessary. Regardless, here is what you need to do to remove the *panel* (I didn't want to answer a question to which you didn't want or need the answer):

In the cargo van, and possibly in the passenger version produced by Chevrolet (and in the Astro's twin, the Safari -- by GMC), the Phillips-head screws securing the large panel on the lower half of the interior panel of the doors are visible;

however, if you have a conversion van (or your doors are otherwise upholstered), the screws may be covered.

Usually, the upholstery panel can be carefully pried off using long (flat-head) screwdrivers or something similar. The fasteners used to hold the panel on are very strong, and the panel has a relatively weak core -- so if you don't want to damage the panel, expect to spend 30 minutes or more removing it.

If you discover that you've damaged the panel, you can build a replacement (or have an upholstery shop do it for you): they're not exactly rocket science.

I was able to remove my inside rear door panels on my Starcraft Conversion without removing the rear seat. I did eventually remove my rear seat in that van (it was a seat/bed), but if someone was able to access the rear threaded fasteners that secure the seat to the floor, he or she should have no problem removing the panels without removing the seat (in the EXT body).

How do you install a thermostat on a 1991 Chevy Astro van?

Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from radiator Remove housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose Make note how thermostat is installed in housing Clean both surfaces well Install new thermostat and gasket Re-fill coolant slowly to prevent an "airlock" Start engine and look for leaks Run engine up to normal operating temperature with heater on Re-check coolant level

How do you remove the fuel the pump from the 1990 astro van?

If yours is like my 88 astro the pump is in the top of the tank. most people will tell you to drop the tank to change it. i howeverever decided to cut a hole or trap door thru the bed of the van to reach it. it turned a 4 hr job into a 5 minute one. however be careful because there are gas lines and electrical lines going to the pump you could cut thru if youre not care ful.

How do you replace the fuel pump in 1994 Chevy Astro van?

I replaced the fuel pump on my 94 a few years ago. But depending on the engine that's in your model, the fuel pump may be in the fuel tank or mounted under the hood. My suggestion would be to purchase a Haynes repair manual. I have one and have found it pretty handy. The book covers the replacement of either type of fuel pump. If yours is in the gas tank, like mine is, make sure to replace the fuel strainer on the bottom of the unit. My van went thru two NAPA fuel pumps, both installed by the dealer I bought the van from (used). The original pump went within a couple months of buying the van so it was covered under the dealer warranty. The second went in less than six months, the NAPA pump price was covered under NAPA's warranty, but not the labor at the dealer ($300!!!). That pump lasted about one year (12 or 13000 miles). No warranty anymore for the NAPA part, so I went to Autozone and got a fuel pump for $80(lifetime replacement warranty!) They told me I should make sure to change the strainer no matter how good it looked because it could cause the pump to fail. I bought the strainer (don't remember how much, so it couldn't have been much) and replaced it along with the pump. That was about three/four years ago and I haven't had a problem with it since. Hope this helps.
