We raced last summer and here is how it went; We started off on his go, he punched it and hooked up pretty good, I had my window down and all I could hear was his flowmaster exhaust. No, No, No, you can't just look at the horsepower, the 1996 had more than 25 ft-lbs more torque, and sounds so much better. Besides, I raced one in my '96 and I kicked butt.

The 96 Super Sport of course. Because of the fact that the 96 has an LT1. I don't think so the 96 ss (LT1) had 260 HP, over 500 lbs more wt. and did 0 - 60 in 7secs with a 15.4 quarter mile. The 2007 has less wt., 303 hp and does 0 -60 in 5.6 secs and runs quarter mile in 14.2 secs. the 06-09 impala ss's rape their lt1 siblings. the only thing that the LT1s have over the LS4s is RWD. at 4200lbs and 260HP, it cant beat a 3800lbs 303HP beast. and yes, i am right because i have a stock 08 SS with 150lbs of subs in the trunk, and i still beat a 96 SS with exhaust. so whoever said the first answer, sorry, but you are wrong.

No, the 66 has the rectangular tail lights. 68 has round lights. I own a 66, but I prefer the 68 tail lights.

First check your brake fluid level and if full you need to have the ABS wheel sensors checked out for a bad one.

I'd have to double check, but I believe the cam and crank timing marks are SUPPOSED to be pointing directly at each other to be on #1TDC. Just turn the crankshaft 360 degrees, back to TDC, then point the distributor at #1. You shouldn't need to change the timing chain adjustment.

First remove the Philips head screw and trim piece surrounding the door handle and lock. Next look under the "grab" handle used to close the door you should see 2 7mm bolts (they are hard to see without a flashlight) remove those. Now just start at the bottom and pull the panel away from the door.Once all of the platic push pins are out carefully lift up on the panel and it will be free. You didn't say if it has power windows or manual , if they are manual there is small c-clip behind the window crank handle that needs to be removed(try not to let the clip go flying it will be hard to find).

Remove all front accessories from engine. Remove radiator. To make it easier later, rotate the engine until the distributor is at #1. Remember or mark where the rotor is pointing. Remove distributor. Remove intake. Loosen oil pan bolts. Remove fuel pump. Remove timing cover. Remove valve covers and loosen all rocker arm nuts. Remove push rods. Remove lifters. Remove cam gear and timing chain. Now pull cam from front of engine being careful not to damage the cam bearings in the engine. To install use a moly lube on the cam lobes and Lubriplate on the bearing journals. You always have to use new lifters with a new cam. Carefully slide in the cam. The timing chain gears will have marks....dots usually on one of the teeth. Line these up, with the chain installed, so that the cam gear is showing 6 o'clock and the crank gear is at 12. Bolt it to the cam. Now turn the crank until it is back at 12 but the cam is also at 12 instead of 6. This is #1 compression stroke. This will help you when you install the distributor. Install is reversal. There are procedures online for setting the rocker arms while the engine is cold. I know it sounds like a lot, but years ago when I did this several times a year I could do it in a couple of hours. It will take you considerably longer since you haven't done so before.

I have a 1995 Trooper. There are 3 screws that must first be removed: 1. Door handle 2. Rubber Handle 3. Rubber Handle. Take those 3 screws out then, with your hands pull the interior away from the door. There are some plastic thingies that will pop as you do this. Use care not to damage the wires on the entrance light like I did. You'll have to twist the door handle to fit through the square opening. Lift the panel away from the door and remove the power window switch. Unplug the power window switch and panel should be ready to set aside. Hope this helps!
