Where is the radio fuse in a 99 Chevy Metro?

The fuse is located under the dash along the driver side wall. There is an off-white box about 4 x 5 inches. On the bottom of the box is an L-shaped cover. Removing the cover, you will see the fuses. The fuse you want is the "ACC" fuse. I spent over an hour looking for this fuse when it blew as well.

What could cause my 2000 Chevy Metro to have intermittent starting problems if the battery and alternator check good?

Although a previous answer said, "I had the same problem with a 2002 corvette. I replaced the battery and never had the problem again," I would suggest that you have your mechanic check the crank and cam shaft sensors to make sure they aren't corroding. My 2001 Metro LSI was doing the same thing, and it turned out to be the cam shaft sensor. Replacing it wasn't that big a deal, however, the long time corrosion of the sensor also caused the car's main computer to short out -- and replacing that was a big deal.

Where do you find the crankshaft position sensor on a 98 Chevy Metro?

Hi there, You can find the Engine Crankshaft sensor for a 1998 Chevy Metro in the bottom front of the oilpan. Note, it goes thru the oilpan but, it's Not part of the oilpan or in the "oil chamber" itself. It's held in place with two (2) bolts. No oil will come out when you remove it. There is one (1) electrical connector on the sensor. Note, this can be easily mistaken for the oil pressure sensor. Note, they are prone to getting "dirty", so clean it off after removing. Good luck. Can you tell the year an engine came out of from the engne block casting number for a geo?

Yes, you can. count to the 10th digit. If it's a number than that the year of the car. For example 10th digit is 1, then it's a 2001 and so on. If it's a letter like T then it's a 1996. Call the any salvage yards and give them the letter of 10 th digit. They will tell you what year is it.

Changed the oil pan on a Chevrolet metro and now it will not startChecked fuel pump got gas what to do now?

I just went through this problem myself and what happens is that because of a poor design flaw the crankshaft position sensor air gap that connects to the oil pan goes out of spec if you put a gasket on oil pan or apply too much sealant. Remove oil pan eliminate gasket and just use sealant as that was what they originally did at the Chevy dealer and I put a gasket on the pan thinking they left it off and then had the problem you are having

Exact same thing happened to me. This is correct. I want to add that I am almost certain that there is a difference in thickness between the gasket for the 4 cylinder and the 3 cylinder. I removed the gasket and went with sealant only and that resolved the problem.

How do you change the clock-time 2000 Chevy Metro CD-am-fm AC Delco stereo?

In the lower right-hand corner of the stereo, there is a switch with a "down" arrow on the left, and an "up" arrow on the right. Inscribed just above the "down" arrow is a barely legible "HR" for hour, and inscribed above the "up" arrow, "MIN" for minute. To set the clock: [1] Put the key in the ignition, and turn to "ACC" (1st click) or "ON" (2nd click). [2] Turn the stereo OFF (if it's ON) by pushing the power/volume knob in the upper left-hand corner of the stereo, so the clock is being displayed. [3] Press and hold the "up" arrow button for 3 seconds, at which time you will hear a beep, and the minutes will start advancing. At this point you can advance the minutes with the "up" arrow button ("MIN"), and advance the hours with the "down" arrow button ("HR"). [4] When you have set the desired time, turn the stereo back ON, and the time will be latched in.

Can you have power steering fitted to a car that has no power steering and if so how much approx does it cost?

yes it is possible what you need to remember is that any component needed has to be purchased brand new as you will have no exchange units to return. the major items being the PAS pump and the rack itself costing up to and in excess of £1000 (UK), combined with hoses, brackets, belts etc pushing the price up even further labour charges will include modifying the engine to take a pump and belt and fitting of the rack and hoses, any thing up to 10 hours which by UK standards is another £1000. this would be using manufacturers specifications and parts it would be worth contacting the car manufacturer or dealer to see if PAS could be "retro fitted" if it can then expect £2000 plus VAT robb

How much transmission fluid does a 1999 Chevy Metro hold?

How do you install the AC belt from the engine to the compressor of a '99 Chevy Metro?

The Air Conditioning compressor serpentine belt can be changed by adjusting the small belt tensioner idler wheel. This small idler wheel has a center nut (I think it's 14 mm) you must back off first so the wheel can slide up & down in a slot. There is an adjusting bolt on the bottom of the wheel bracket. When the idler center nut is loose, put a socket on the bolt head (facing upwards) and turn to draw the idler wheel downwards. This will slacken the belt and you will then be able to slip the belt off the pulley. Remove & install the new belt and trun the adjusting bolt back tightening the idler wheel onto the belt until your satisfied with the tension. Tighten the center nut and check this doesn't change your tension. This procedure needs you to remove a plastic splash shield in the fender well. You can do this.. it's a "one beer" job! DangerDude

Why would a 2000 Chevy Metro keep overheating after having changed everything obvious such as thermostat hoses and caps?

Answer

When you replaced the "stat" did you put it in the proper way? This is a one-way valve. Is your radiator good? Does your water pump work?

Due to possible heat core problem. Does it run hot temperatures, up to 107 degrees, when stopped for extended period of time? Does it leak water & anti freeze on drivers side? Are u constantly having to fill with water? Remember to keep radiator filled and carry a bottle of water for emergency use.

Why will a 1999 Chevy metro not start?

99 Metro won't start

I have a similar complaint. Our 99 Metro 1L (3 cylinder) distributor engine has failed to start 4 times in the last 3 months. We wait a day or so and it starts fine and runs another week or so. today it quit again. I put a timing light on it and confirmed the reason it won't start is there is no ignition signal getting to the plugs (ala no spark no fire). I talked to the dealer and he is guessing it is the "ignition module". The only want $400 to replace it (includes $44 labor). I can get a new one at Rock Auto for $80 and install it myself in 5 minutes so don't think I'll go to the dealer. I'm still not sure it is the cause of my problem however because the problem is so intermittent. I'm going to do some coil voltage checks prior to ordering any parts. So, the first question you should ask before you start throwing money at it is "do I have spark". Just put on a timing light and turn it over, no spark, no start. If you have spark than start looking at your fuel system, eg pump, etc. If you don't have spark, fix it first.

Good luck

Timing is off. Remember it requires that the 2 timing cams be positioned right to get optimal fire to plugs.

Where is the transmission dipstick located on a 2000 Geo Metro?

xmission d/stickthe dip stick for the metro is in the right front,w/the hood open right hand on the fender, lean into motor compartment ,just past the cross member that secures the radiator, looking down towards the ground,,you will see the top of the transmission @ the rear of the engine(engine is sideways) their should be a red handled wire looking loop sticking up. that is the transmission dipstick,if not look for a tube like pipe sticking up with nothing in it and that is where your dipstick should be. sometimes they find a way to viberate themselves out and fall to the ground. the oil stick is yellow handled and at the left top of the engine behind the oil filler cap. How much should it cost to replace a CV joint on a Chevy Metro?

I got both for about $160, before the core charge. With a $30 core, it only cost me about $100. If you know how to replace them this would be all it costs you. If you have to take it to a mechanic, then you're probably looking at about $300-$400 for everything.

Get an estimate of repair from three repair shops.

i only paid $110 for the parts and $95 to have the guy put the cv's on for me. my car is a 1998 Chevy metro (w) abs. now my car runs great now that i have the new parts on.

How do you remove the backdoor panel of a 2001 Chevy Metro?

Chances are you don't need to if its what is wrong with every metro you just need to break the child safety lock inside the door. take off the panel on the inside of the door then look inside follow the bar away from the handle to where it latches to the frame you should be able to see whats in the way of the door unlocking. use a long piece of metal or something that will help you reach and push the plastic child safety lock out of the way. (i had to break it couldn't move it so don't be afraid to break it. the door will still work the child safety lock wont.) once you've done that you should be able to unlock the door and open it. PS: youre trunks not gonna work soon either.
