Can the number on the intake tell the motor size on a ford engine?

If you are talking about the number that is in big text, that's the size,

1.8 1.9 2.0 2.2 2.4 2.6 2.9 3.0 3.1 3.4 3.6 3.8 4.0 4.6 4.9 5.0 5.7 and so on,,,,

This is in litres, You can find the inches by multiplying this number by 61

What is a 16 valve engine?

It is a 4 cylinder engine that has 4 valves per cylinder making a total of 16 valves. This is simple language, allows the petrol in faster making the engine perform better.

Which runs faster a 3.5L engine and a 3.0L engine?

assume same no. of cylinders and bore /stroke ratio, larger engine will run slower due to longer stroke, piston acceleration being the limiting factor

I have a 04 wrangler X and would like to install a V8 is there a engine that will match the bell housing or is there a kit to buy for a certain engine Can the front end handle a V8?

Check with "Advanced Adaptors" as far as the swap goes... as far as the front end.. the Dana 30 can, however that's alot of weight and alot of power to have to deal with.. my buddy frequently tears rear ends out with a 4 banger... be easy on it and it'll be ok i guess, go hard and your gonna be replacing shaft like crazy i would imagine. Upgrade to bigger splines, and def. check into new gears front and rear. I'm gonna swap too, but I'm holding off till i get bigger front and rear, don't wanna be left in the woods danglin from a rock face.. u know??? Good luck... Go Big or Go home!!! Lataaaaaaaaaa

Can you replace a 1992 Chevy Caprice wagon 305 TBI with a pre-1992 350 carb engine?

Start calling some shops, and call a checy dealer to speak with a shop foreman or two, the core block should be ok, if it bolts up, etc, but, this is a grey area to me I've only done FORD swaps...

The TV cable has to move the same amount per pedal movement after you finish the swap as the original or the tranny will shift at the wrong times...BUT YOU CAN ADJUST THIS AFTER THE INSTALL so,,,enjoy and Good Luck

Also,

Everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional shop manual available in the reference section(make copies of the right sections) read up and fix it like a PRO! :) good luck

My Answer:

You can put the 305 TBI on the 350 and leave the wiring and trany the same. The 305 intake will fit most 350s. I have a crossfire injection, dual TBI from a 82 camaro on a 92 350 it runs great, you can also upgrade the injectors for more power.

Sometimes depending on the block year you have to modify the intakes two middle bolt wholes to the correct angle. Can easily be done with grinder and some inserts.

They also make a intake for the 350 that will fit the TBI.

If you are looking for more CFMs you can still get more by modifying the TBI no need for a carb. Unless you are looking for having problems with cold starts and trips that are at different elevations.

How do you find out anything about your engine with your engine serial number?

Depends on the manufacture. On Chevy for instance, the engine Serial# will tell you where the engine was made, month, year, and vehicle it was installed in. Use Google to search for engine codes for your vehicle.

How many CC's does it take to make a horse power?

That depends on many things. Simply there are fewer CCs per horsepower in a highly tuned racing car engine than in a lawn mower engine.

Is the ford escort zx2 engine the same as a Honda engine?

no no no

the zetec 2.0 dohc has vct it is variable valve timing in which that's why zx2's don't have egr valve and pretty much at a certain rpm the exhaust cam retards timing for a bit of performance and cleaner emissions

How to turn off check engine light on a 1996 mercury mystique?

The 1996 Mystique has OBDII (On Board Diagnostics Level 2) and requires a command from a "code reader" or OBDII monitor. It can also be shut off by disconnecting the battery for a long enough period of time, apparently - but I have an Auto XRay unit, so I just use that. If the cause is not repaired, the CEL WILL come back on.

Why was the combustion engine invented?

A brief outline of the history of the internal combustion engine includes the following highlights:

* 1680 - Dutch physicist, Christian Huygens designed (but never built) an internal combustion engine that was to be fueled with gunpowder.

* 1807 - Francois Isaac de Rivaz of Switzerland invented an internal combustion engine that used a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen for fuel. Rivaz designed a car for his engine - the first internal combustion powered automobile. However, his was a very unsuccessful design.

* 1824 - English engineer, Samuel Brown adapted an old Newcomen steam engine to burn gas, and he used it to briefly power a vehicle up Shooter's Hill in London.

* 1858 - Belgian-born engineer, Jean Joseph

How do external combustion engines produce mechanical energy?

"External combustion engine" almost always means a steam engine. There are two kinds.

Reciprocating steam engines have a boiler to make steam, a piston assembly for the steam to act against, and a flywheel for the piston assembly to turn. The first steam engines were "single acting" engines. You introduce steam into the piston assembly. When it reaches the bottom of its travel, the rotating flywheel forces the piston back to the top. This is how single-cylinder internal combustion engines work. That's not efficient because you rely on mechanical inertia to make the engine work, so someone invented the "double acting" engine. The piston assembly has two pistons in it. When the piston on the left side reaches the bottom of its stroke the one on the right has reached the top of its, and a valve switches the steam from the left piston to the right one. This is far more efficient, and it's how any internal combustion engine with more than one cylinder works. To get useful work out of this thing, you put a big drive belt around the flywheel.

Steam turbines are a lot like jet engines, except that jet engines don't have boilers. There are two kinds of turbine wheels, and every steam turbine contains both types. One kind has blades that you shoot steam against. The other kind has nozzles that steam shoots out of. The guy who invented this motor knew the first wheel wouldn't use all the energy in the steam, so he captured the steam used on the first wheel to drive a second, and he kept going until all the usable energy had been extracted from the steam. The shaft of the steam turbine directly drives the load.

Who invented the supercharge system for combustion engines?

The first supercharger for internal combustion engines was made by Dugald Clerk in 1878. It was used on a 2 stroke engine.

How can you get a 1990 Chevy beretta gt engine number online?

The 8th digit of the vehicle identification number denotes the engine size. Call a parts house and they can tell you.

How is a internal combustion engine similar to a electrical engine?

Well the only way the two are similar is that they both mechanically power or drive something. They both generate power and energy. But one runs off electricity usually magnetic energy. An internal combustion engine runs off a fuel such as gasoline or diesel fuel and emits gases i.e Carbon Monoxide harmful to you and your kids, an electric motor ,"by the way anything that runs off electicity is call a motor not an engine", does not emit any pollutants.

Would flushing the engine with ATF quiet the lifters in a 1990 Acura Legend 6-cylinder?

Its possible. ATF or automatic transmission fluid has alot of detergents in it and can clean deposits off internal engine parts. example would be to use one quart of atf with your oil

Whats the speed of an eagle?

Large eagles could reach a maximum speed of 50 mph or 80 kph.

Is a 383 engine a dodge engine?

Yes and no. Dodge did make a V8 engine that displaced 383 cubic inches from the factory. However, a Chevy 350 can be modified to displace 383 cubic inches if you bore the cylinders .030" over and replace the entire rotating assembly (pistons, connecting rods, and crankshaft) with a shorter compression height set of .030" overbore pistons, either factory length or longer connecting rods, and a crankshaft with a 3.75" stroke. This Chevy 383 is quite popular among hot rodders and drag racers.

Why two stroke engines are hi-speed engines and four stroke engines are hi-torque engines?

generally , two strokes are smaller capacity , shorter stroke, higher revs. for given engine capacity ,

long stroke /small bore = high torque / low revs

short stroke/big bore = low torque / high revs

How does a hemi engine differ from a regular engine?

A hemi engine differs from a "normal" engine in that the hemi has hemispherical combustion chambers, whereas most other V8 engines just have a wedge style combustion chamber. The hemispherical combustion chamber is somewhat more efficient at making power in that the flame propagates from the spark plug, which is usually in the exact center of the chamber, in all directions, rather than mostly in one direction in a wedge style chamber.

What is internal-combustion engine?

An internal combustion engine is one where a gas/air mixture is ignited and burned in a closed cylinder, and forces a piston to move. In other words, all piston engines in cars, trucks, bikes aircraft.
