How do you change a belt on a 1999 Dodge Caravan?

I am not a mechanic but saw my mechanic change it on my car. Go underneath the car. One of the pulley wheels the belt goes through needs to be pried back with a screw driver or something similar to release the tension on the belt. Only one of the pulley wheels will move, so try each one. On my car, the pulley was slightly rusted, so he WD 40'ed it first. It was still a little stiff, and he had to use a lot of elbow grease. Remove and replace belt. Good luck.

Power sliding doors not working on 1999 2000 or 2001 Honda Odyssey?

I have a 2001 Honda Odyssey and have taken the van to the dealer to get the power door reset.... $50. There is apparently a breaker of some sort (not the electrical fuse) that causes the door to stop functioning if it has a problem opening or something causes it to stick when you try to open it. AVOID THE $50 CHARGE and the wasted time of having this "repaired". To reset, I tried both of these suggestions below at the same time. I found these elsewhere online... not sure which worked, but the door is working again without a trip to the mechanic. Posts elsewhere indicated that this worked on both 2000 and 2001 Honda Odyssey vans.

Suggestion #1

1.) Disable the power door switch on the left dashboard.

2.) Remove the power door fuses located under the front passenger leg area.

3.) Manually open and close both sliding doors.

4.) Restore the power door fuses located under the front passenger leg area.

5.) Enable the power door switch on the left dashboard.

6.) Try opening the sliding doors.

Suggestion #2

Remove fuse #13 (clock) for 30 seconds or more from the passenger side fusebox. This will reset the door and the clock. Great advice! as stupid as it sounds, I opted for suggestion #2 and it worked! Door working again in less than 1 minute! Greatly appreciated advice.

How can you fix a reverse light that won't turn on on a 1993 Dodge Grand Caravan?

Have you tried wire woolling the termials and the flex connectors - 80% of all reverse light failures are due to bad connection - rust, damp, dirt are all the bain of caravaning.

Why would the maintenance required light be on in your 1992 Dodge Caravan?

some of these newer vehicles are very sensitive in the way they are made and can let you know that they need to be checked as your vehicle has done, they are also programmed to let you know when a sensor is getting ready to go bad on you. Unfortunately the warning lights don't tell you which one is going bad, but these chrysler, plymouth, dodge vehicle do have a system on them that will blink a code to you. If you turn the key on and off 3 times and watch for the( check engine light) blinks, it may give you a hint as to what might be the prob, but you will need to buy a Hanes or Chilton manual from a parts store to get the codes, unless you know a mechanic, or go online to get them.

Will 2007 headliner in dodge gran caravan fit a 99?

It's not likely. The parts that are interchangeable with the '99 come from model years 1996-2000 Caravan, Voyager, & Town and Country.

**Correction** Instead of "Caravan, Voyager, & Town and Country," I should have specified the caravan and voyager as "Grand." The base model is shorter than the grand so those won't fit a grand caravan/voyager. Usually the Town & Country wheelbase is the same size as the "Grand" models of Caravan & Voyager.

How do you replace the rear heater hoses that hold coolant in a 2000 Dodge grand caravan?

I cut off the rusted out lines with a small tubing cutter and replaced them with regular heater hose and clamped the ends. Copper tubing and hose clamps also work.

How do you use the spare tire mount in a silverado?

Get your jack handle out from under your back seat ( that's where mine is ) and there is a hole in the rear bumper probably on the right side by the licence plate. Put it in that hole and you will find a place for the end of the jack handle. It is @ a slight angle. Turn the jack handle counter clockwise to lower your spare tire to the ground and clockwise to raise it back in place. Jef

Short in fuse 1990 Dodge Caravan?

Fuses DO NOT "Get Shorts" INSIDE them!

The purpose of fuses is to protect the wiring and components in the circuits in which they are installed.

Fuses DO NOT "get shorts;" only the circuits which the fuses protect get "shorts."

The following answer is one which I have used [via cut and paste] many times for lots of similar questions regarding fuses that blow. It applies in almost all cases of blowing fuses. Read it over and over, understand it, and for sure, heed it.

Fuses That "Blow" Repeatedly

Without being able to "hands on" troubleshoot the circuit served by the repeatedly blowing fuse, none of us can identify the specific defect which is causing your problem.

Therefore, the following generic answer can be applied to any electrical circuit, whether in a vehicle, or in a building, or whether alternating current [AC] or direct current [DC].

Fuses [and Circuit Breakers] are safety devices designed and installed in electrical circuits TO PROTECT the conductors [wires] and other components from short circuit conditions and/or overload conditions which cause an extremely large flow of electrical current [measured in Amperes], which causes overheating of the conductors that results in damage to the insulation and the conductors.

And in a worst case scenario, the probability of a FIRE which could destroy the vehicle, house, or other structure in which the circuit is located.

When a fuse or Circuit Breaker [and replacement fuses, or "tripping" Circuit Breakers] "blow," especially if it happens repeatedly, is an indication of an UNSAFE CONDITION in that circuit, usually a short.

The fuse or circuit breaker is doing what it was designed, intended, and installed to do, protect the conductors and components of the circuit which it serves.

The proper "fix" is for a qualified technician, who knows what he or she is doing, to troubleshoot the involved circuit, find and identify the defect, and make proper repair [s], BEFORE replacing the fuse again [with the properly sized fuse or before resetting a circuit breaker].

Some ignorant people will suggest installing a larger fuse or breaker to solve the problem, BUT that will only increase the hazard, not correct it.

Do not follow "bad" advice by installing a larger fuse in a misguided attempt to correct the problem. To install an over-sized fuse would almost guarantee damage to the wiring and an electrical system fire
