How do you repair power windows in a Chevy G20 Van?

Well the first thing to do is check the fuse for the power windows should be a 30 amp metal fuse check for continuity, if fuse is ok, take the door panel apart and then take the connector off of the power window motor ,with a trouble light check to see if you have power with the switch in the up and the down position if you have power in both positions and the window does nothing then get a battery and place the ground wire on the door and the positive end to either prongs on the back of the motor if the motor does nothing then the motor is either no gode or jambed, if it works one way then try the positive on the other side of the plug, if that also works then you have a grounding problem, PS both windows have to work from the drivers side first. Try this before attempting to take the motor out ,If in dought splice the black wire and ground it to the door frame . If all else fails take the three screws out that hold the window motor in and bench test the motor ,If you are going to replace the motor you are going to have to take it out anyways right,so while it is in the up position cut a splice of wood so you can put it in the door to hold the window in the up position before you take the motor out Wayne

How do you remove a 96 Jetta door to replace the motor for the window?

There are Allen screws around the door panel. Sides and bottom. Remove those and the handle has a cover. separate the cover from the handle and remove screws. If there is a speaker in the door you need to find the little slots on the cover. Use a small screwdriver and pry the cover off.Remove the screws from the speaker. Pull out and up on the panel to remove. It has to go over the door lock and once it comes away unplug the light on the bottom of the door.

How do you change a power window motor in a 92 F150?

I'm not sure about the 1992. But in my 1988 this is what I found was easiest: 1) Take off the inside door trim (careful not to break any plastic) 2) Locate the power window motor, it will be close to the front of the door in the bottom 1/2. 3) Remove the plastic weatherseal from that area. 4) You can access the bolts that hold on the motor through a small hole, just big enough to fit your hand through. But that is VERY frustrating and almost impossible if you have big hands. You have to be a contortionist or have very specialized tools. What I did located the position of the mounting bolts, drilled a 1/2" hole (3 holes) through the inside door metal so that I could get a socket on the bolts....much easier. You can pull the motor out throught the hole that's big enough for your hand. Once I changed the motor, all the holes were covered up again by the plastic weatherseal. 5) re-assemble trim.

Best of luck!

How do you remove the front door panel of a 1990 Chevy Caprice and how do you get the window back on the track?

I haven't done my front doors but I did both rear doors on my 94, there are plastic snap locks that hold your panels on to your door, these can be removed by gently prying with a flat-head screwdriver or by hand, be gentle but don't be a sissy. To get my windows on track I went to a junk yard and took the track guides off of the cars they had there, get as many as you can (never know if you'll need em again or in case you brake one putting it in). Now on your window at the bottom you'll see your track quide, it will most likely be broken in two sitting in the metal track. At the end of the track you'll need to get a somewhat large flat-head to pry the bottom corner of the track out a little so you can either slide or tap it out. Use grease if ya don't have that I used WD40 and coat the track and slide or most likely gently tap the guide into the track. Now use vise grips to put the ball end of the window motor arm into the center hole of the guide(I used dish washing liquid to help, you'll see why). Make sure you secure your track where you bent the corner and your panel will snap back in place. WARNING: BE VERY CAREFUL OF THE SHEET METAL, IT IS RAZOR SHARP! You may be able to get metal guides if you search on line, take care.

Well if that didnt get the front panel off you should remove all the screws from the panel connecting them to the door if its not power optional. (You know pwr windows and locks) Then snap the panel off the plastic pieces and there is a little "C-shaped" pin behind the window crank remove that with special tool. (I used a coat hanger.) Then lift the panel up and off the door.

It is also easier to pull out the entire regulator with the assembly, then remove the motor from it.

I had to pull the whole regulator out of door. But keep in mind you must remove window first, then put regulator in a vise,so the spring tension wont be released. If you dont have a vise drill a hole in the arm with the teeth in it so you can bolt it to the X frame,so the tension dont get released. You proberly have to drill out rivits on old motor also.

How do you replace the switch and motor of the driver's window in a 1991 Mercedes 190E?

tools required: spanner (10mm i think) and Phillips screwdriver

remove the plastic covering of the door locking mechanism remove the plastic cover of the door armrest (at the top) to reveal a bolt. Undo this bolt. The whole door facia/panel will lift up a bit although the door handle although the door handle mechanism is still attached. This can then be unhooked more easily.

The motor is held on by 3/4 nuts (and tension). undo all these and push the motor mechanism and sliders back into the door frame. (support the glass carefully at this point)

the motor is attached to the frame by sliders and can be separated relatively easily.

refitting is the reverse

How do you fix or replace the power window motor or bracket on a 1992 Mazda Miata?

i would first check the fuses to the power window accesory to make sure that it didnt just burn out as this can also cause your window motor to stop working. If it burns out more fuses its most likely that the unit is defective and you should just go ahead and get a new window motor, as they are usually electrical motors and impossible for most people to fix. If you can aquire a service manual, it will show you how to remove the door panel and wire in a new motor or actuator. Make sure to put some lithium grease on the hinges to allow for less friction and stress on the motor
