How do you remove and replace the freeze plug on a 1996 Ford Bronco?

You have to remove the engine and get freeze plugs pressed in. If you use a rubber plug which have a brass face and bolt in. Remember that they are a temporary fix and will come out if your engine over pressureizes.

When replacing the convertible top latches how does the top strip above the windshield come off to get to the locking bolt?

it's glued on with contact cement glue

Answer

I just replaced the latch on mine. There was no glue or rubber cement, at least on my model. In order to remove the old latch:

  • Open the soft-top halfway, so it balances with the frontmost portion in a roughly vertical orientation. The goal is to let it balance on its own, so you don't have to hold it. Alternatively, get a friend to hold it for you.
  • Starting on one side, carefully wiggle the top strip panel straight away from the rest of the soft top. There is an indentation in the side of it where the locking bolt fits, holding it on.
    • You need to carefully slide the panel away, so that the indentation comes away from the locking bolt.
    • On mine, the passenger-side locking bolt was smaller than on the driver's side, but yours could be reversed (or they could be the same size). Be careful, and try each side with increasing pressure, to minimize the risk of breaking the paneling.
  • Once one side of the panel is free, carefully pull the rest of the panel free. Be careful not to bend it enough to break it.
  • Slide the other side of the panel away from the soft-top.
  • Remove the locking bolt on the latch (mine was a 10mm bolt on the driver's side, and a larger Phillips screw on the passenger side).
  • Unscrew the two (Phillips) bolts on the bottom of the locking mechanism
  • Slide the entire assembly out the front of the front

What type of transmission fluid is used in the 1992 Mazda 626?

Best place to look for vehicle fluid specs. is at www.amsoil.com. Click on their "online application guide", follow through with your make-year-model. Of course they will recommend their product, which is excellent, but I have found that that year and range of Mazda 626's require "Dexron II". Use a "synthetic" version when possible and you will run cooler and your tranny will hold up better!

How to replace heater core on 1990 DeVille?

I wouldn't try. Everything behind the firewall has to be "removared". The wiring and electronics will not survive this adventure unless you have the entire GM team on your side (They are NOT!). I cut the core out of the loop by disconnecting the hoses and joining them. But I live two blocks from the Sun. If you live in the Great White North you could build a campfire in the back seat for warmth or wait a couple of thousand years until the climate changes.
