make sure its completely cold 1 remove the expansion tank release the presure by taking the expansion cap off then put it back on after it equilized disconect the hoses upper first let them leak into a pan un screw the tanks 2 mounting bolts and unplug the coolant level sensor if you have one. make sure u rinse it out good then replace it

2 take the radiator lower shield then put ur drain pan under it and unscrew the radiator drain plug it should be on the passenger rear if i can rember correctly

3 flush the radiator out with water till its just clean water coming out of it then put the plug back in and button it up, i just flushed it threw the expansion tank since that's where u have to add the radiator fluid 50/50 mix

ok for ur car if its an auto I 4 its 7 quarts and the v6 is about 9-10 quarts the manual 2.0 is 7 quarts and the 2.5 is 8-9 quarts

You really have to take them lose and look but it's been my experience that the mounts can go before the struts. My Alliance was so bad the upper mounts where totally separated at 150000 but the struts were fine.

Also, to check the struts themselves w/o removing, go to front of your car, put your hands on the bumper and push the car up and down really fast, then let go. If the car continues to bounce more than 3 times or keeps going for awhile, they are shot. Do the same with the rear.

i HAVE A 98 AND THE BELT BROKE TWICE AND DID NO DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. The first time I was on freeway doing 75 and it broke.

I have a '97 Contour and had no damage to the engine when my timing belt broke. Make sure you check your pulleys to ensure that the bearings are good. Mine were not and had to replace them.

I discovered my dipstick was broken the next time I tried to check the oil, after trying a different oil change place. I think the oil change "specialist" tried to force it when if would not go in easily. I won't give the name of the company since I believe the quality of the work really depends on the management and ownership.

Have some one pull the hood at the same time you pull the release lever then if that dont work the cable might be broke and you will have to jack front end of car up look up under front bumper and trigger the release some way find the cable pair of pliers pull it.

You have to take the door trim pad off and see if there is voltage at the motor but more than likely, the motor is bad.

the engine's timing is computer controlled. What timing specs are you looking for. What engine is it? 2.0l VVT engine?

According to the 2000 Ford Contour Owner Guide :

Both the 2.0 and the 2.5 came from the factory with a 50 / 50 mix of

distilled water and GREEN color antifreeze ( meeting Ford spec ESE-M97B44-A )

It depends on what kind of fouling you are getting. If it is oily black fouling, you have oil getting into the combustion chamber, usually from either leaking valve guides or worn piston rings. If the fouling is a dry, sooty carbon, the mixture is too rich.

In either case, the problem needs to be properly identified, the reason diagnosed, and the source of the problem repaired. Usually, if the mixture is off, your "Check Engine" light will be on, and a code will be stored in the computer. If the problem is caused by oil in the cylinders, you might not see the light, depending on whether or not it's bad enough to cause misfiring.

Airbags are safe while they are properly mounted in the car, but when removed, they can be potentially quite hazardous. Stringent safety precautions should be taken when working with them. Wear safety glasses, and use some means of grounding yourself to the car chassis while working on it to prevent any static charge from building up.

Disconnect the battery! First and foremost, this MUST be done to prevent any accidental actuation of the bag! Remove the negative cable, and make sure it can't accidentally work its way back into contact with the battery post.

On the back side (front side?) of the steering wheel spokes you'll see two holes, one on each side. Inside these holes are screws. Remove them, and the horn button and airbag assembly will come off. Disconnect the wires.

After you remove the air bag assembly, you should short the wires together with a paper clip or similar, to avoid any possibility of static electricity causing it to discharge. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES try to "check out" the airbag by using a meter on the wires!

Put the airbag in a suitable cardboard box to protect it after you have it off. Keep it in a safe, dry location until you're ready to reinstall it.

A complicated contour is heavier.

If the brake light indicator is on in the dash and none of the brake light light but, then check 1st the bulbs, 2nd the Check Fuses at drivers right foot, if the fuse is good as was my case now you have to think.

Oh 3rd, "Toyota Light Failure Switch" located in the trunk under the antenna (mine is yellow) should be a box about the size of a tape-measure. Re-move it, by de-pressing top 'button' and sliding toward outside of trunk/car (can be a pain!)

This shows there the "Light Fail Sensor" is located.

If this switch is our trouble you can make the BREAK LIGHTS work by shorting the green-white and the green-red wires together. ( I used a paper clip jammed into the connector.)

The indicator light will still be on but the break lights will work!!!

This switch should have been RECALLED the safety device they built keep your break lights on, fails and takes out ALL the brake lights!! But other then that the Camry is great!

Oh, #4 if the brake lights don't work but the indicator is on check the switch on the brake petal.

#5 Well if anyone can think of a #5 to check please add it.

It's not very likely that a 4 cylinder will have 2 banks, unless the engine is in a "v" confinguration. Haven't heard of a V-4, but it's possible.

Oxygen sensors for inline engines are on the exhaust manifold, just past the point where all 4 cylinders have joined.

There are two . One is ahead of the converter & one is below the converter. They are called upstream & downstream sensors.

On a 1999 Ford Contour :

The fuse panel in the passenger compartment is in the lower part of the dash ,

behind and on the left side of the steering wheel ( there is a lock lever you

have to move down in order for the fuse panel to swing down )

Also , the Power Distribution Box ( which is " live " ) is located in the engine

compartment , between the battery and the drivers side fender

It sounds like you need to replace the blower motor. Most of the time you can pick one up at any new parts store like AutoZone.

there is a clip on the inside that holds the handle on/ very simple to remove, position the handle with the handle grip up so you can see the other side of the handle. pull outward on the handle some and you should see the clip. take a skinny long screw driver and pop the clip and the handle will come right off.

The car (or plane/whatever else it is) accelerates. This means that it gains speed

The V6 will take about 6.5 quarts of oil for a complete oil change with filter.

How much do you like the car cause its a labor job pulling engine just keep adding oil to car till it dies a fraction of the cost

It is most likely a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Chemical sealers generally do not work. Your best bet is to replace the head gasket and inspect the head for damage.

It is located in the air intake between the aircleaner box and the motor.

the block heater is located on the right hand side of the back of the engine block. it has a 3cable flat wire going to it. it is under the A/C hoses routed there. it is about four inches from the front of the engine ( where the serpentine belt is)
