Have some one pull your your front wheels at a tire shop. To check the wear on your brake pads and to see if you have fluid in your brake clyinder. Sounds to me like its the brakes

There is not a cooling fan sensor, as in a separate coolant switch that is used to turn on the cooling fan. The PCM turns on the fan through a relay. The PCM looks at ECT information for engine control information like fuel adjustments and cooling fan operation. The ECT on a 2.0 liter is on the rear of the engine, upper area, toward the front of the car. On a 2.5 liter it is on the rear of the valley area of the engine.

if it is a 4 cyl. the adj. is located on the left side (fire wall side of the motor) just below the alternater.

Throttel sensor is on the intake where the intake hose hooks to the intake, usually on the firewall side.

This question really depends if you are going to be installing just a new head unit, a subwoofer, an amp, or a combination. Installing an amp: # Buy a amp wiring kit. Make sure that you get big enough wire for the amount of power that you are going to be pushing to the speakers. # Pop your hood and find your battery. Set the power wire close to your battery but don't attach it yet. Unravel the power cord and make sure that there is enough room for you to work with when putting in the fuse box. # On your firewall, find a grommet hole and work the power wire through the grommet hole. Make sure that you don't pull the power wire too far which won't allow you to position everything corectly under the hood. # Go to the kicker pannels on the door and pop them off. They are usually snap on so slowly pull them off. # Run your power wire along the left side of the car (looking from the back). # When you get to the back seat, lift up the edge of the seat a push the power wire underneath. Push your hands in the crease of the seat and try to find the wire. From there, you can pull it through into the trunk. Once you have your amp set up, you can attach your fuse box and attack your power wire to the battery terminal.

4cyl: Remove airbox assy. It's on top of the transmission, to the left of the battery. Kind of square in shape with a corner cut off. Held in by 2 bolts

the low side service port is located behind the drivers headlight, in front of the airbox.

Hi Everyone,This is Jerry from Chillicothe, Ohio,Timing is very credical on this motor,Here,s how you time this motor,Start off with unhooking the negative cable from battery.Remove the right hand tire first,then the fender well,now you can get to and see everything pretty good,Least you think will at least i can see a motor now,makes it alot better,remove front air dam two,drain radiator because you should replace the water pump to.You don,t want to do this over again do you,it,s behind the timing system.Start by turning crankshaft clockwise 2 revolutions,line up the second mark on the balancer with the mark on the oil pan.That should put you right on 1 tdc,remove valve cover,slip cam holding tool in both ends of both camshafts.Resting tool on valve cover flat surface,and the tool will set there in the notches and rest on valve cover top flat surface.Loosen the timing belt tensioner,turn bolt as far from the belt as possible.Don,t turn anything,Slip the new belt on the timing system starting at the crankshaft and going in clockwise manner,install belt.Loosen the timing belt tensioner bolt,remove camshaft holding tool,now turn the motor over two revolutions with the timing belt tensioner loose.It will seat against the belt on it,s own by turning it over clockwise the tensioner will draw up tight giving the timing belt the correct belt tension.Now tighten timing belt tensioner bolt to correct tourqe.turn motor over two more revolutions,and recheck your timing,with the balancer marks lined up,second mark on balancer alined with big mark on oil pan,also check an see that camshaft holding tool will still slip right in both ends of intake an exaust cam slots,if so ,you have your new timing belt installed and in time 100% as it left the factory brand new.Word of advise,replace water pump,all idler pulley,s.New timing belt tensioner,this is pretty hard work for a diy,That,s why i recommend replacing everything because the water pump is behind it,plus it only has a timing belt tensioner,two other idler pulley,s.Plus going through and doing it again ,you woulden be very happy if you had to take the timing system all apart an replace a water pump,no i woulden be very happy either.Getting back to timing belt.After tightening tensioner bolt make sure the tensioner spring is new or same as new and the retaining pin installed an the tensioner spring is hooked up to it perfect,On these cars you have to replace the tensioner spring plus a retaing pin,the tensioner spring hook,s to the tensioner baking plate hole,an hook,s on the retaining pin.After all of this is right on,now your ready to reinstall.Take your time and reinstall everything,hit the switch and it wont turn over once and it,ll be started and ready to go another 60,000 miles.You can do this,after you do you,ll no alot more about the car your driving.The Ford Contour is a very good automobile,it is just like anycar,it need,s a little preventive maintenance program.A Contour will last a long long while as long as you drive it correctly,and maintain it right,I have a 1995 model contour it has 151,000 miles and realy looks like it has a 1,000 miles on it.I do everything myself and in the summer it is important to use a good a grade motor oil.

Some portion of the circuitry downstream of the fuse which supplies voltage to the lamp is shorting to ground, perhaps at the lamp holder socket connection. A wiring diagram should be consulted.

The VSS is on the drivers side rear of the transmission. On some models there is a second VSS in the dashboard.

Zero, probably holds about 4 and a half liters of oil though. The gas tank on the other hand is 12 or 13 gallons.

If your Ford Contour is stick in park, the transmission may be going out. You gear shift may also not be all the way in place.

open the door. there should be like 3 small Phillips head screws on the side of the door. unscrew them. then push the door panel up and out, the link provided below explains how. if there is anything else in the way, you will then be able to tell what it is and unscrew it, too. that may not be the textbook way, but that's how i did it.

Alright, to do this, prepair the following items.

A flat head screw driver.

A Philips head screw driver.

A T35 torques head driver of some kind.

A towel or blanket you don't mind risking with oil.

A new filter.

First, with the hood closed, pop the three plastic caps off of the plastic plate directly in front of the windshield glass on the passengers side with the flat head screw driver, the one closest to the quarter panel may come flying off so be careful. Use the Philips head to remove the screws under the plastic caps.

Pop the hood of the car, spread the towel or blanket over the engine to protect yourself from any protruding objects, and remove the two or three torques head screws in the left side plastic panel, and the closest torques bolt on the right panel.

Pull the stripping away from the lip to about halfway past the right panel, or about 75% of the cars width.

Now you should be able to remove the plastic cover, exposing the filter. There are two clips which hold the filter in place on either side, pop these and remove the plastic frame holding the filter.

It probably isn't a good idea to breathe to deep of the filter, they get rather nasty.

With the new filter in hand as well as the mounting frame, you will notice that the new filter is perfectly straight, and doesn't really bend, while the frame has a slight radius on it. You will have to lightly snap the filter in two or three places to get it to bend within the confines of the frame, don't worry, if you notice the old filter is also broken in several places, yet look at all that it managed to take out of your breathing air.

Now comes the difficult part, getting the filter back in. I can't really give you too much advice on this, other than get the inside lip of the frame in the clip first, giving you more room on the left side to wiggle the harder second clip into place. From there it is just a matter of re-assembling that which you took apart.

Looking in from the drivers-side wheel well, you can see a sensor with a 2 wire connector on the very end of the trans - that one is the turbine speed sensor (TSS).

On a related note, the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is over to the right, kinda facing the firewall.

The replacement of a muffler on your 1999 Ford Contour should cost approximately $90. Most of the time when the muffler needs to be replaced there are several other exhaust components have will also need to be replaced.
