How do I apply to havve my grandmas 78 new yorker overhauled by Chip and his crew?

Who would know a ball park estimate of what it would cost to change out the timing belt on a 1992 miata labor and parts?

I just had my timing belt changed for $350. This included replacing the water pump. Simce the water pump costs about $40 and requires the same labor as a timing belt change, it's wll worth haveing done at the same time. My Miata is a 2000 SE, the cost should be close as the work is the same for all the model years. There's probably a local Miata club not to far from where you live. Check out the http://www.miata.net site, club link. Connect with the club, they will know who does good work and what the going rate is in your area. Good luck, Jack

What causes a 1993 Ford E150 custom van to shutter and buck when giving gas after slowing down when it idles and takes off good and sensors and plugs and wires are new?

EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEM: If you smell fuel vapors after stopping the engine, outside of the vehicle. Check your EECS system, which consists of 1. Purge control valve: check operation and hoses 2. Canister for fuel vapors: check for cracked case and cracked vacuum lines. 3. Fuel tank vapor vacuum line: from canister to tank. Blow into it, you should have very little flow through it after the tank is full of air. (DONT SUCK ON IT, LIKE POISION) 4. Fuel tank vent line: from tank to gas filler pipe. This is very hard to check, and is probably your biggest problem. If you smell fuel vapors after stopping the engine that are very strong after filling the tank, back by the fuel tank, this is probably your problem. Use a mirror and a flashlight to check the vent hose. Check where the tubing connects to the tank. Look very carefully and move the tubing when checking. Also feel around the tubing for cracks. This hose is 3/4" rubber tubing, you will probably have to use heater hose to replace it. There is a hose clamp, with a 5/16 hex head on them. Very hard to remove, use an old fashion spring clamp to replace it, much easier. I had the same problem, and it almost drove me nuts. Joedi

Where is the thermostat located on a 1987 Toyota Van Wagon LE 4 cylinder?

Answer

It's on the driver side of the engine. Open the "hood" and locate the lower radiator hose. Follow the hose to the engine and there is where the thermostat housing is.

Answer

I confirm that, removing the power steering pump will give you more room, though you can do it without moving anything. You are working on top of the alternator so disconnecting the battery is a good idea. Since the thermostat is mounted sideways on the engine, use form-a gasket on the new rubber O ring gasket to the metal neck piece (wait 20 minutes for it to set). Install the new thermostat and carefully install the neck piece with O ring gasket. It is easy to mis-align the O ring so take your time. The only way to check, that I know of, is to take a small mirror and flash light and check in the neck to see if the O ring is sitting right after you tighten down the two nuts.

How do you hook a trailer brake controller on a 1998 ford E-150 Conversion van?

I have a Prodigy Brake Controller I installed on my 1995 Econoline 150 cargo van about 3 months ago. Installation was tricky to say the least, but it wound up working really well.

I had to get the existing 4-pin trailer connector at the rear of the van's undercarriage to work with a Hopkins (aka "Hoppy") 7-pin connector on a travel trailer. What I did was first purchase the 7-pin Hoppy connector at an RV store, match the trailer connector contacts with enclosed wiring diagram to get the trailer lights working.

I then ran a single 12GA wire from the brake controller's brake control wire to the Hoppy connector (you have to follow the enclosed wiring diagram and manufacturers' instructions for the brake controller carefully.) I also used 10GA wire to the brake light switch to the "hot" contact at the top of the brake pedal (under the instrument panel.) Then connected the neutral return to the "cold" contact on the switch.

There was then the problem of how to power the brake controller. I used 10GA wire to a spare 12V cigarette lighter plug I happen to have and used the cigarette lighter to power the unit.

Most manufacturer's will recommend hardwiring the power to a intermediate relay between the controller and the hot side of the battery to maintain steady state power to the controller at all times.

I also connected a 12GA wire to the Hoppy for a trickle charge to the trailer battery (Aux 12V.) The diagrams enclosed with the Brake Controller and with the Hoppy will illustrate the connections far better than I can describe here.

Where is the blend door on a 1997 Ford van E-150?

I am not familiar with a "blend door". Can you elaborate more about this device? What does it do, what is its purpose, etc.?

I saw this question on another ANSWER website for a F150. The blend door is the mixing, distribution chamber on the heater. On the F150 it was on the cabin firewall just above the transmission hump. On the E150 (van) it should be under the dash. Follow the air distribution lines to their source. When I get a more descriptive answer, I'll include it.

Above your passenger's feet is some black plastic duct work. Behind this is the heater core and behind that is the blend door. It is driven by a stepping motor on the right side. If this isn't working pray that the problem is in the electronics that feed the stepping motor. Once you remove the motor it is almost impossible to get it back in. Getting to the door requires a lot of work taking out a lot of stuff from very awkward positions. If you pull the motor the door falls down which is the fresh air/AC position. To get heat the door must be rotated up.

Where the DPF Differitial Pressure Sensor on a 2000 Ford E-150 4.2 Engine Whats it look like?

It will be located along the intake manifold. It will look sort of rectangular. Metal usually. It will have two vacuum hoses connected to it along with a electrical connection. Just remove these and label the vacuum hoses remove the two screws and it comes off. (I thnk it is two or three screws) Sorry cant remenber exactly how many screws.
