it is on the backside of motor just above the OIL filter,if you use a socket I think it was 1 inch or 1-1/16"..It is black cap with one wire cap going on it,,the cap that Plugs on the single pin is tough to get off ,,So pull the black little PLUG away from the Black cap part Straight out and off, and DO NOT PULL THE WIRE,,,If you Break that wire it is impossible to fix easy.God Bless you Bryce

I just had a 4-wheel alignment done on my 93 Escort LX hatchback in Missoula, MT for $79. I called around and prices varied from $69-$89. More importantly, all alignment shops are not equal in quality of work. I talked to a couple mechanics who don't do alignments about who to avoid and they both recommended two tire shops. Note that the 93 Escort needs a 4-WHEEL alignment, and that alignment fixes abnormal tire wear and handling problems only, and only with good, balanced, properly inflated tires. If your problem is vibration, it's most likely a tire problem. If the car is pulling to one side, check tire pressure first. If the steering has play in it, you probably need to replace some parts before it can be aligned.

yes with out the cable connected properly and you are going up a hill it will not go into passing gear. or downshift when needed.

Never worked on this particular vehicle. Memory serves that your have to remove the grease cap on the center of the hub and remove the axle nut itself. BEFORE DOING THIS be sure you have the tightening torque rating for your vehicle for re-installation.

Start checking the engine. You need 4 things for an engine to run. 1) good fuel at the right time 2) strong spark at the right time 3) compression and 4) unobstructed air flow into the engine intake. You are missing one of those basic things. Start eliminating possibilities, starting with whatever is the easiest for you to do, and you will find what you are missing. Another issue may be that the timing belt has broken. I just had the same thing happen to my Ford Escort----today! Or it could be that your timing belt is broken but to check it you'll have to remove the timing belt cover, lift the right part of the engine by using a floor jack under the oil container and also remove a belt tensioner that's on the way of the timing belt cover. Try unhooking the battery for 12 hours or more. i had the same problem and that did it for me and the car started up. If you know what your looking for check the relay switch for the fuel pump or try listening for the fuel pump kicking in when you first turn the key in the ignition if you cant hear anything, use a phase tester and prob the wires for the fuel pump to check wether power is getting to the fuel pump(cover up with tape after) if powers getting to it then you need a new fuel pump, if not then you need to trace back till you find the problem.

Broken timing belt, timing belt jumped teeth, crank key sheared off, vvt unit lost oil prime.

That is the most likely scenarios if compression is equal or nonexistant across the cylinders.

There is a small plug in the console forward of the shifter. Pop that out and insert a thin screw driver, you'll feel a springy resistance. Push it down and see if you can move the shifter. If the shifter will still not move, with the car on level ground, the parking brake full on, and the wheels blocked remove the shift cable from the tranny and see if you can shift the tranny with the lever. If you can, your cable is frozen. If you can't, you're looking at tranny repair.

The difference between a GT and an LX is the GT is a 2 door , the LX is a 4 door. The GT has a 1.8 L dual overhead cam with 4 valves per cylinder. An LX has a 1.9 liter engine with a single overhead cam and 2 valves per cylinder. The GT has a tach. The LX doesn't.

Before you replace the whole lighter, check the fuse. If it is not located in the fuse box, it may be just outside the fuse box under the dash.

On a 1998 Passat, if you push the piston on the rear caliper in without turning it the caliper is destroyed. You need to buy a special tool to turn the caliper as it is being pushed in. There are some persons on EBAY selling universal brake caliper piston pushing tools on EBAY.

If you just push it in, it will not automatically readjust the brakes. You will have very hot rear rotors from the constant rubbing.

If it's a 4 cylinder- (Just did one yesterday) Disconnect negative battery cable Remove air duct that runs from air filter to engine (remove elec connector 1st) Get PCV hose that runs there out of the way ( breaking one end loose and just twisting works) Remove 4 bolts that hold ignition distributor (where all the plug wires go together) and tape it, or wire tie it out of the way Remove ignition distributor mounting bracket from cylinder head. (3 bolts 8mm?) Look down.There's the thermostat housing. Three bolts (a 1/4 inch drive ratchet with a small extension will help to access the bottom bolt, some brilliant Ford engineer buried it as a joke. The thermostat lives in the housing. Remove it, clean it out, and put the new one in facing the same direction making sure that you don't pinch the seal on installation. Clean the old gasket material and adhesive off carefully from both surfaces, glue the gasket on, and reassemble. (I dropped by the hardware store and picked up new bolts and they went in really well compared to the corroded old ones. I had a 65 Mustang that I could replace a thermostat in about seven minutes...

There's a carpet lining in your trunk, to remove that from the rear part of the trunk you'll need to undo some nut-type caps with small plastic screw/pin things in them that hold in this carpet. After that you'll see the back of your taillight assembly and the obvious 3 nuts you need to remove to remove the taillamp.

If it is a 1.9,, then you point the arrow on the cam pulley up, at the dot on the head, and the crank pulley notch up, at the matching notch above it, and put on the belt. The tensioner is a bit of a hassle.

If I read correctly from my A4 (model 2002) handbook, it is number 36. 30 Amp fuse needed.

If you mean the stop solenoid it is on top of the fuel pump. The fuel pump is at the front of the engine bay on driver side.

Its an hexagonal plug below the exhaust manifold on the side of the engine.

This vehicle has hook wiper arms. Find little tab on wiper blade where its inserted into the hook. Press tab and pull wiper out of hook. You may need to rotate blade to make clearance. Sometimes you have to flex the blade a little to in order to make enough room. See video for hook arms on the related link below.
