RTFM

The previous answer is from some smart-alec who has no clue.

Real Answer:

No, there is NO DIPSTICK TUBE on the 1.8 L I4 Engine. The dipstick passes down through the cylinder head, into the engine block. Look for the dipstick on the passenger side of the valve cover (same side as the air filter) about half way from the front to the rear of the engine. Unfortunately, the bright yellow plastic dipstick handle BREAKS OFF the Dipstick, leaving just a little yellow around the dipstick, inside the hole, that the dipstick is inserted into.

Get yourself a good pair of needle-nose pliars, and pull the dipstick out of the hole. The o-ring that keeps junk out of the engine (a good thing) makes this job more difficult. Take the dipstick, and drill a hole through the top-end of the metal, and put a loop of bailing wire through it (seriously) to make a handle that won't break, until you can get to the dealer and get a new dipstick. The dealer near me seems to be going through about one dipstick a week (two weeks in a row, when I called, they told me they just sold their last one, but they keep them in stock, and get replenishments weekly).

How do you do a tune up to a 2003 Ford Expedition?

Buy a Chiltons service manual and it will help alot.

Change the motor oil, change the transmission oil and filter if it's been more than 30,000 miles since the last time, change the fuel filter, rotate tires. If the truck is around 100k miles or more, think about changing the O2 sensors (mainly the two front ones. I wouldn't worry too much about the back two.) First couple things that come to mind.

Also, I've tried looking for a Chiltons service manual for an 03, but I can't find one. Do they not make one?

WikiAnswers is designed to provide a specific answer to a specific question. * Questions that do not contain enough information cannot be answered - asking "did he die?" or "how did she become rich?" cannot be answered because we do not know who you are asking the question about. * General questionsusually cannot be answered because it would take an entire website or a textbook to do that - questions such as "Explain biology" or "What are the names of all cars ever made?" are too broad to be answered. * Questions that require us to look at a picture or diagram that you have in front of you cannot be answered because we cannot see your assignment page. * Questions that must be answered with the questioners opinion cannot be answered by anyone except you - job application questions such as "Why do you feel you should work for this company?" or "Where do you hope to be in five years?" cannot be answered by another person. * Partial questions or question fragments cannot be answered - a sentence fragment such as "preparation for a position" or "pi plus" do not explain what your question is, and cannot be answered. * Questions that are actually statements cannot be answered because they are not questions. "You are in love with a boy and he does not know you exist" is not a question and cannot be answered. * Questions that should be asked in a chat roomcannot be answered because this is not a chat room. "Who are you?" or "What is your favorite color?" are not questions that can be answered on this website. The WikiAnswers Stylebook will help you write a proper question that can be answered for you. See related links below. Tip: Don't use pronouns such as he, she, it, them, their, his, her, its, and so forth in your question. Chances are, we won't know who she, he, them, and what it is and won't be able to answer your question. You must indicate the subject properly in your question. However, questions in which the subject is already indicated within it, may use those pronouns, ex: "When Miley Cyrus starred on Hannah Montana, how old was she?" is okay. If you believe that your question should not have been placed into this catch-all question, please contact a supervisor. A list is linked below under Related Links. ----

Note to supervisors: This is a catch-all question. Neither it nor its alternate wordings should be removed. See related questions for more info about catch-all questions. Please note: some questions that are fragments or actually statements can be trashed instead of merged. This is a judgment call. Ask yourself if the fragment/statement could be asked by someone, somewhere, sometime in the future. If it could be, then merge it. If it wouldn't be, trash it. Before either trashing or merging, please attempt to rephrase the fragment into a real question. "not enough info" is a shortcut question to merge into.

Oil change 5.7 liters with filter change?

How to Change Your Motor Oil Introduction Plan to change your motor oil every 3,000 miles or every 3 months if you want to be on the safe side, but know that most cars no longer require an oil change after every 3,000 miles. You will not damage the engine by letting it run 4,000 miles in between oil changes. However, if you've been driving in very hot and/or dusty conditions you should stick to the 3,000 mile schedule, or even more frequent changes. Instructions Difficulty: Moderately Challenging Getting Ready Things You'll Need · Old Rags · Ratchet Sets · Car Jacks · New Oil Filters · Car Manuals · Funnels · Oil Drain Pans · Oil Filter Wrenches · Plastic Containers · Jack Stands · Rubber Gloves · Socket Sets · 4 - 5 quarts motor oil · Car Creepers Steps Step One Gather necessary tools and materials (refer to Necessary Items list). If you plan to change your oil regularly, consider investing in jack stands, a socket set and an oil drain pan. Step Two Run the car's engine for 10 minutes before you drain the oil. Warm oil drains faster than cold oil. Step Three Park the car on a level surface, engage the parking brake and turn off the engine. If your car has a low clearance, raise it by driving it onto a ramp or by jacking it up and supporting it securely. Step Four Open the hood and place the new oil and funnel on top of the engine to ensure that you won't forget to add oil afterwards (an expensive mistake that many do-it-yourselfers make!). Tips & Warnings · Consult your owner's manual or an automotive parts specialist to find out the weight of oil and type of oil filter your car needs. · You'll need the year, make, model and mileage of your car if you go to an auto parts store. · Make sure the car is securely supported before you crawl underneath. · You will need two jack stands to support the front of your car after jacking it up. Never get under a car that is supported only by a jack! A pair of jack stands costs less than $20. Draining the Oil and Changing the Oil Filter Steps Step One Crawl under the car once it is securely supported. Step Two Locate the oil drain plug on the underside of the engine, usually near the front center of the car. Consult your owner's manual for the exact location. Step Three Place the oil drain pan under the plug and loosen the plug with a socket wrench. Remember: turn counterclockwise to remove bolts. Step Four Remove the plug by hand. Be prepared for the rush of hot oil! Step Five Let the oil drain into the pan. Hold onto the plug. Step SixReposition the pan, if necessary, to catch all the dripping oil. Step Seven Wipe off the drain plug and the plug opening when the oil finishes draining. Step Eight Replace the drain plug gasket. Step Nine Reinstall the plug. Always start threading any bolts or screws by hand to prevent cross threading. Step Ten Tighten with a wrench or socket. Be careful not to overtighten the plug. Step Eleven Locate the existing oil filter. Oil filters are usually on the side of the engine. Step Twelve Position the oil pan underneath the filter to catch any remaining oil. Step Thirteen Use an adjustable oil filter wrench to unscrew the old oil filter. Step Fourteen Use a rag to wipe the area where the filter mounts to the engine. Make sure the rubber seal of the old filter is not stuck to the engine. 15 Step Fifteen

Use some new oil to lightly coat the rubber seal of the new filter. Step Sixteen Screw the new filter into place by hand. It's usually not necessary to tighten the oil filter with the oil filter wrench, but have it at the ready if you're grip's not strong (or large) enough. Tips & Warnings · Wear gloves to remove the plug if it's hot. · It's always best to replace the oil drain plug gasket. · Use the right size wrench or socket. Don't use an adjustable wrench: you can strip the bolt. · Handle hot automotive oil with extreme care. · Be careful when removing the old oil filter. It's full of oil. Installing New Oil and Cleaning Up Steps Step One Locate the oil filler cap on top of the engine. Remove it. Step Two Place the funnel in the opening and pour in the new oil. Typically, you will use 4 to 5 quarts of oil. Check your manual for the correct oil capacity. Step Three Replace the cap when you're finished. Step FourRun the engine for a minute, then check the dipstick. Add more oil if necessary. Step Five Check the area around the oil drain plug and the filter for oil leaks. Tighten the plug or oil filter if you find leakage. Step Six Use rags and newspapers to wipe away excess oil. Step Seven Pour the used oil into a plastic container after the used oil cools. Step EightDispose the used oil properly: either bring it to a recycling center or an auto repair shop that can recycle it for you. Don't pour it down the sewer! Tips & Warnings · Record the date and mileage after you change the oil so you will know when your car is due for another oil change. It helps to put a small sticker on your windshield to remind you. · Handle hot motor oil with extreme caution. · Only dispose of used motor oil and filters at authorized locations.

How do you remove and replace a starter on a 1992 Olds Cutlass?

I just changed the starter on my cutlass cierra 92, and I took it just one step at a time. I disconnected the battery, then I jacked up the car and put the front on jackstands. Then under the motor just behind the radiator, you will find your starter. There is a dust cover that is held by one nut. you must remove this. It has two bolts (i used 15mm socket) and if they haven't been moved in the last 13 years get ready to use wd40 to remove them. The starter should drop as you remove them and it fits out of the space between the frame and the rad pipes. Look carefully at the wires. Only one goes on the small connecter. All the others go on the large connecter. Put the new starter back in the reverse order, and it should work.

There is a non-destructive way to fix a roof gutter on a Ford Van in order to reseal against water leaking into the interior of the vehicle. Wherever there is a rust hole, a person can use a product called Bondo. Bondo is a tape or screen that is fastened on using a glue. Then sand smooth, after it dries. If there is still a leak, a new sealant can be put over the old sealant just to fill in holes. After this dries, it can be sanded and sprayed with a primer paint.
