What kind of energy is stored in a flashlight battery enabling it to function?
Well, most portable electronics will us Direct Current energy, or DC energy, for short. Direct Current is a weaker form of electricity. Alternating Current is the other form of electricity. It is used in houses. The reason they don't use AC energy for small things is because the converter needed for the AC weighs about 2 pounds for a single appliance. To use one that can do multiple things at once, like the ones in your house, then you must buy the regular, larger converters, which cost around 2000 dollars for the cheaper ones. And, don't forget that they weigh about 3300 pounds each!
What is the problem when your air bag light flashes 6 times?
Basic rundown: Most recent cars and trucks has several sensors (impact sensors?) that triggers the airbag system to deploy when 2 or more impact sensors are triggered
An airbag light flashing (assuming your airbags hasn't deployed) means that an impact sensor was triggered (Maybe some idiot backed up on your car and didn't think any damages was done because there wasn't any visual damages, maybe you need to talk to your son about his driving =p)

1997 Chevy lumina brake light in rear window works but the brake lights in back don't?
Start by inspecting the bulbs that don't light. Remove the bulb and make sure the contacts aren't corroded. If not corroded, change one bulb and test. If it doesn't work with the new bulb, then check the fuse(see owner's manual for which fuse is brake lights). If none of this works, check the activating switch located on the brake pedal arm.
= New
The brake light in the rear window and the main brake lights are on a different circuit. After the signal leaves the activating switch on the brake pedal arm, it splits. One circuit goes straight to the high mount brake light, the other goes into the turn signal switch. If the rear turn signals work but the brake lights don't, suspect the turn signal switch, not the bulbs and wires. Better to check this before removing and checking bulbs, wires and fuses.
It is a common problem with the W-body cars like Lumina, Monte Carlo, Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass and Pontiac Grand Prix. (Approx 94-99 models). Part number is GM 190005031 (w/o radio accessory control) or 19005032 (with radio controls)

Repair brake spongy pedal on a suburban?
If you are repairing spongy brakes you want to inspect for any leaks in the lines first. Look for oily spots on the break lines and callipers. Check under the master cylinder as well. If you are sure of a leak, you need to get it repaired.
If the sump of the master cylinder is dark and inky, clean it out with a turkey baster or a reservoir pump and refill with fresh fluid. If all looks OK, then bleed the brakes starting with passenger rear side then rear driver's side then passenger side front tire then driver's front. You may have to remove rear wheels if you cannot get enough play with the wrench.
The process to bleed is as follows:

Some of the auto parts retailers around the country will let you borrow a code scanner in the hopes that you will buy necessary parts from them. You can't really test/reset the OBD system without the code scanner. The " check engine light" is by far one of the most misunderstood technological advances It is a warning light that is illuminated when there is a problem affecting the EMISSIONS of the vehicle.. Don't let it bother you as it is a good thing once you understand it. One point that was brought up a recent meeting of technicians was that the amount of hydrocarbons is greater when the gas cap is left off than when the engine is running. Hydrocarbons are part of pollution emitted as gasoline evaporates. Going a step farther, one facet of the emission system is the "Evaporative" portion. This is when the fumes from the gasoline are leaking from the system into the outside air. This is one part of the emission system that can trigger a check engine light. I would say a small percentage of the vehicles that have a check engine light are the result of a loose or inadequate gas cap. But understand that many scenarios are possible with the "check engine light" The vehicle's powertrain computer (note that some vehicles have multiple computers aside from the powertain computer) will run a series of self-tests. They will only run under certain criteria. And they are different from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some self-tests or
