The automatic transmission fluid dipstick should be near the firewall , in the

engine compartment , just on the right side ( passenger side ) of the engine

The manual transmission does not have a dipstick , the fluid level is checked

underneath the 1993 Ford Explorer at the fill plug on the transmission

There are 3 separate 20 amp fuses for the 3 powerpoints . All 3 fuses are in the power distribution box in the engine compartment. They are in locations # 7, # 9, and # 35 for the rear powerpoint. They are all maxi cartridge fuses. Sorry, I don't know if it is # 7 or # 9 DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE - THE PD BOX IS " LIVE "

Lift the carpet in the cargo area and u will see 2 long rods. connect those and take the jack rod out of the compartment on the left side of your cargo area, and if u look in the middle of ur explorer right under where the rear hatch door closes u will see a hole. insert the rod into that hole and turn to u lock in and turn either direction until u notice the spare lowering. crank it a couple more time once the spare is on the ground so u have enough space to lift the tire up off of the guide wire. Revers the steps to raise the tire back up into place. hope all goes well

The powertrain computer has to be scan to get the codes. The you fix the problem and with the scanner you clear the codes.

If you disconnect the negative battery post it will turn off the check engine light and also reset the powertrain memory. But that might only solve the problem for a short period of time, and it might not work at all if the problem is present.

In the cargo area , on the drivers side , behind the removable plastic panel

where the tire jack is stored . There are clips on the back side of the panel

which hold the tire iron in place

The interior lights can be turned on (and brightened/dimmed) by rotating the knob you pull out to turn on the exterior lights. To turn them on, turn it to the right.
