Where is the egr valve located on a 2000 ford windstar?
The EGR valve on a 2000 Ford Windstar is located on the intake manifold near the firewall. It is typically located to the left of the main throttle body or slightly lower than the throttle body.
Where is the onboard computer on a ford windstar?
I'm not sure, but i think the windstar (99) has two seprate computers, one is on the fire wall, and one is in front of hte passenger seat, under the glove box
the pcm is under the wiper cover on the pass side i just replaced one.
It is on the right-hand side and is only accessible from the engine bay. You have to remove the plastic cover against the windshield and remove the metal windshield wiper assembly. It is not difficult.

Are the wires numbered on coil pack?
No. There are no numbers on a coil.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the 4.0 L - V6 Ford engines the coil pack towers are numbered :
coil---3---4
pack--2---6
plug---1---5
I respectfully disagree - on a certain aspect of coils and numbering: there has to be numbering of some sort to distinguish one port from another. It may be true there are no numbers, in a literal sense, printed on the coil itself.
That leaves a person with having to distinguish #1 from 2, etc, in some other method.
That's what the 'text-drawing' above is trying to establish: there is a wire connection plug in 1 corner - from the point of beginning, count across the row of three ports, 1 -2 -3, and then the bottom row is 5 - 6 - 4 (yes, it is a fractured sequence).
For much more about firing orders, cylinder numbers, coils and getting the wires properly connected, check out the "Related Question" below.
While that question was written to the Windstar, the information is fully applicable to a great number of Ford / Mercury products out there today.
What is the firing order on a coil pack and cylinders for a Windstar?
Firing order and cylinder numbering - all 3.0 and 3.8 engines:
Firing order:
1-4-2-5-3-6
Cylinder numbering:
1--2--3
4--5--6
Frt. Of vehicle
Coil numbering:
----------------
--1--- 2--- 3--
----------------
--5--- 6--- 4--
----------------
Motor: in front from drivers side (battery) going left order is 6-5-4 in back from drivers side (battery) going left is 3-2-1
Coil bank: From front to back, driver side (battery) 3-2-1 From front to back, opposite side, passenger side, 4-6-5 <-- note the odd sequence.
How do you clean a MAFS on a 1998 Windstar?
To clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAFS) on a 1998 Ford Windstar, first, ensure the engine is off and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the MAFS by unscrewing the screws and disconnecting the electrical connector. Use a specialized MAF sensor cleaner spray and apply it to the sensor element without touching it. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling the sensor and reconnecting the battery.
How do you remove the starter on a 98 Ford Windstar if it is stuck on?
A rubber mallet comes in handy to breaking parts loose.
If you don't have one, use a piece of wood between the hammer and the starter - it buffers the impact and lessens the chances of damaging the part.

The light is NOT directly controlled by the master cylinder float. The light is controlled by the ABS Module, which location depends on your vehicle. There are a number of different reasons the lights come on. If it comes on but shuts back off within seconds, don't worry about it, that occasionally happens when it gets a bad signal ("nonlatching error"). In rear-wheel-drive (RWD) vehicles, it is common for the differential speed sensor in the rear differential to go bad. You can pick up a Haynes manual to find if you can do at-home diagnostics (Temporarily grounding out the diagnostic lead will cause the ABS light to flash out a pattern indicating the error)
Check the Brake Pressure switch ( also known as SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH ) which is located below the Brake fluid master cylinder for leakage. The leakage can cause both lights to stay on and also cruise control control not working and even worst.. possible fire .. Please refer to http://www24.brinkster.com/sdhartney/linc/05s28rev14.pdf for more information. You can buy replacement part at Ford dealer and replace it yourself depends on your skill in about 30 mins.

What is the probable cause of p0441 trouble code in an OBD2 system?
evap emmision system. purge solenoid not operating, or vacuum line broken between engine and charcoal cannister, near gas tank, underside of vehicle. solenoid may also be unplugge damaged, or engine computer could be defective.
On my 02 Intrepid it was the EVAP bleeder filter mounted just behind the fuel tank. I found this solution by checking the vacuum switch mounted on the carbon cannister. An answer I found on the justanswer website. Post copied included below.
Hello inspector 13, The set condition for this trouble code po441 has nothing to do with the oxygen sensor changing voltage when the purge valve opens up.
The Pcm gradually increases purge flow. During flow the PCM looks for the NVLD (natural vacuum leak detection) switch to close. If the PCM does not see the switch close at maxium flow an error is detected.
First pull up the lower cushion for the back seat, there is a wiring connector on the right side. We always check this first because we had a couple vehicle with corroded connections.
The problem we at Chrysler, are finding is the internal switch at the NVLD is not working properly and closing as it should.
This unit is located on the right side of the gas tank, and is part of the charcoal canister.
REMOVALWhy would the oil light go on and off with the rpms on a 1999 Dodge Stratus?
With my 2000 it was the oil level sensor. I had other problems but that fixed the lite going on and off. First make sure you have clean oil and oil fliter. You or someone will have to take the oil pan off to get to the sensor so clean everything while you're in there. I also used an engine "cleaner" in the old oil first before changing the oil.
Hello, If I'm not mistaken, there speedometers on 1994 Toyota pickups rely on a mechanical cable connected to the speedometer on one end and the transmission on the other. A plastic gear in the transmission spins the cable. The cable can fray causing it to fail and the gear inside the transmission can also lose a tooth or two with time and wear. Good luck!
Hello on my 1994 Toyota I do have a sensor on the the transmission which supplies an input to the odometer and speedometer. In my case my odometer is indicating the mileage but not my vehicles speed. I am now checking the foil circuit board as the speedometer does not look accessible.
The 1994 is electronic the with a speed sensor on the transmission that sends pulses to the speedometer. If the Odometer is working then the sensor on the transmission is more than likely functioning correctly. These trucks are pretty notorious for this issue and usually it can be fixed by pulling the cluster apart, replacing the capacitors, fixing the circuit board if there has been any shorts and giving it a good cleaning. There are companies you can send the cluster off to and they will repair the circuit, test and send back to you.
The oil light comes on than off while driving?
Totally guessing..oil pump? If the light is coming on and off, then first make sure the oil level is correct. If OK, then have the system pressure verified with a separate gauge by a professional mechanic. It may be something as simple as a bad sending unit or wiring, but don't take the chance it's something more serious. Loss of oil pressure can cause severe damage to the engine.
What do the inner tie rods do on a 93 escort?
The inner and outer Tie rod assembly connects the steering gear, in this case a rack and pinon unit, to the steering knuckle the wheels are mounted to.
This allows the driver to steer the car.
Are you sure the button is good they are electrical. I don't know if it is a fused item or not but it wouldn't hurt to have a look see.

Check engine light blinking and idles rough on a 2000 ford windstar?
ANSWER: Sounds like it might need a tune up at the very least. Take it to AUTOZONE or most any aftermarket auto parts supplier, they can hook up a reader to your car and find out what code is being generated which will tell you almost exactly what is wrong. Most places are glad to do this for free since they are hoping you will buy your repair parts there.
How do you replace the front turn signal bulb located on a 2000 Lexus 300?
I can speak for the Lexus '99 ES300. The instructions already provided for the '96 are very much on the mark. However, in the '99, there are only two 10mm bolts instead of three, and the turn signal assembly is fastened to the main headlighy assembly by a single phillips-head screw. After removing the splash guard, the two bolts, and the phillips-head screw, the turn signal can be CAREFULLY loosened and worked free from the fender, without fully removing the headlights. And unlike the '96, there is no clip to worry about, and no circuit board.
FOR 99' ES300 MODELS: You do not have to do the things mentioned above. The process is much easier and simpler. No need to even open the hood. All you have to do is pull the whole turn signal assembly forward. NOTE: It is important that you do NOT pull it sideways or even at an angle for it might break the plastic clip. There is only one clip holding the assembly from the frame. To start, use a screw driver or similar and insert it in the farthest part of the signal light assembly from the front. Pry gently to move the assembly forward about an inch or two to completely unlatch the plastic clip that is holding it in place. This clip is located in the middle of the assembly. Then remove the assembly still attached by the wires. Twist the lamp holder out of it's socket to replace the busted light.

How long does it take to change a rear main seal on a 1996 Ford Windstar with a 3.8 liter engine?
disconnect the ball joints, engine cradle bolts, remove the cradle to transmission mounts, drop down the cradle, then remove the driveshafts, tranny cooler lines, unbolt the torque converter, remove the transmission Take off the flex plate(flywheel) and then you can pry out the old rear main seal Put everything back together the way it came out OR Take it to a qualified mechanic shop and pay about $1000 to have them do it
How do you tell if the head is cracked on a 1995 Chevy Corsica?
Look at your oil filler cap see if there is a tan foamy looking substance usually means water/anti freeze is in your oil. Pull spark plugs and check and see if any plug is wet with water. When driving see if there is white smoke coming from your exhaust. These are all the quick and easy checks, another method is to purchase and exhaust gas detector to use in your cooling system, you put it on your radiator fill tube and if there are any exhaust gases present the chemical in the detector will change color. Another good trouble shooting source is an online tech source called ALLDATA.COM the service cost $14.95 a year but it is so well worth it, with this servcie there is nothing you can not do. T HEMPLE
How many fuel filters on a Windstar?
Just one, not including a screen on the pickup end of the fuel pump (inside the gas tank)
See "Related Questions" for information on location & changing the fuel filter.
Remember that the screen is hydrophobic, so if you get any water in your gas tank and the water coats the screen, it will starve the engine of fuel!
the trouble isn't a short. the connector behind the instrument panel locks into a plug that is attached to the dash itself. The copper terminals spread out after being disconnected two or three times, causing the lights or guages to act up intermittently esp. over bumpy roads. Take the cluster out and clean the board terminals and close up the harness connector terminals. Warning, there are live wires there, disconnect your battery first.
