What is the vibration I feel when I accelerate in my 95 ford windstar?

A vibration while accelerating in a 1995 Ford Windstar might be caused by an unbalanced tire. Another cause for a vibration might be a broken motor mount. A broken tie rod might also make the car vibrate upon acceleration.

1999 Windstar shakes at high speeds?

heres an idea, maybe the road you are on is bad, your tired are bad, your ball joints are wearing out very badly, your wheel hub assembly is F*&^ed up, or just maybe your tierod ends are messed up and need replacing.

First have the wheels/tires balanced - very likely to greatly help the shaking.

Reversing sensors work?

A REVERSE SENSING CONTROL ALOWS THE RIVER TO ENABLE AND DISABLE THE RSS

WHEN THE IGNITION IS ON. THE RSC LIGHT TURNS ON WHEN FIRST STARTED

THE OFF INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN DISABLED

SO LIGHT ON RSC OFF----LIGHT OFF RSC ON

This is also referred to as the "Parking Assist" in the Owners Manual.

If this is not working, check the fuse. I don't remember exactly which one it is, but check the Owners Manual to identify it.

Your 94 jeep yj wont start it crank but it seem like its not getting any gas what's wrong with it?

Answer

There may be many problems. The first thing id check would be your spark plugs and or spark plug wires. It may be getting fuel but not enough spark. The next thing id check would be your fuel lines, fuel pump, and your fuel filter. The next possible solution is replacing your starter.

Answer

You must know first if it's fuel problem or a spark problem, you can remove the air filter housing from the carb and move the accelerator linkage manually and see if there is a streem of fuel inters the carb or you can hear the sound of the fuel stream, if there is a fuel stream put the air filter housing back to the carb, then remove any spark plug cable and hold it near anything metal in the motor

(distance about 1/4 in) using any well insolated tool and let anyone crank the motor and see if there is any spark, if there is no spark (90%) change the ignition coil located inside the distributor.

There is also a "crank Position Sensor" located on the bell housing ( at about 1 o'clock looking from front of engine) if this goes bad it will shut everything off, spark & fuel - it is very hard to get to - I used 3 10" extensions & a swivel with a 10mm socket - took appox 1 hour to change

How do you test - repair - replace the coil pack on a Windstar?

NOTE: This is an assembly of the coil pack and ignition control module
Overview
There are three coil "cores". Each core handles two plugs. Firing order and timing is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) directly.... no distributor.

The coils are at the right rear of the engine. The PCM is behind the right side of the dash and extends through the firewall.

Answer

Testing: See Autozone link below for testing procedures

Repair: Sorry, the coil pack is not repairable, it is replaced as an assembly. Approximate cost is $60.

Replace:Seriously consider removing the windshield cowl panels to greatly improve access to the cowl. I've done this both ways, and trust me (even though you don't know me), you will appreciate having all that room to work.

Detailed instructions in the "Related Question" below

  • Disconnect negative battery cable
  • Disconnect wiring harness on coil pack
  • LABEL the plug wires and then remove - after labeling!
To remove the wires, squeeze the locking tabs to release the coil boot retainers.
  • Remove the 4 (5/16 or 8mm) bolts holding the assembly to the mounting bracket
Note the coil ground wire the radio ignition interference capacitor. Save them for re-installation of the coil assembly.
Reverse to install (NOW you'll be glad you labeled those wires!)

Install notes:

  • If reinstalling original coil, wipe the coil towers with a clean cloth dampened with soap and water. Remove any soap film and dry with compressed air. Inspect the coil for cracks, carbon tracking, dirt or damage and replace as necessary
  • Apply dielectric grease to the spark plug wire boots
  • Make sure the plug wire boots are firmly seated so that the locking tabs engage

Answer

First things first. You must remove the entire windshield wiper assembly first. Start by taking the windshield wiper arms off being careful not to strip the studs they are attached to.

Then you remove the plastic molding piece that directs the water from the windshield (you will need to unplug the fluid sprayer hose from this, they just pull off).

Next unplug the wiring harness that is plugged in to the wiper motor. You can then remove the entire wiper transmission (I think there are 4 bolts holding it in place.

Do not remove and label the wires as it says above but instead take the new coil pack out of the box and plug the wires onto the appropriate post as you remove them from your old coil pack. This way you will not make any mistakes because trust me you don't want to get your wires crossed on this issue. After moving all of the wires to the new coil pack, remove the 4 bolts holding the coil pack and remove the old coil pack from your vehicle. On the bottom of the old coil pack you will probably find cracks as it is the clear epoxy type substance on the bottom that usually gives out first. Place the new coil pack that already has the wires attached and reverse the whole process until you are finished.

Why does your Windstar power steering squeal so much when you turn?

Answer

The drive belt is loose.

In this case, it's the 'serpentine', aka accessory drive belt.

See "Related Questions" below for more about replacing them

How do you remove a stubborn rotor for a 2000 ford windstar?

Watch for a small washer-type spring clip on one or more of the studs. This is for manufacturing purposes as it holds the rotor in place until the wheels are installed. Use a screwdriver and pry the spring clip off and discard it (if present). You won't need it later.

Next, use a 2 1/2 lb engineering hammer and tap around the radius of the rotor being careful not to smack your fingers. You may want to use some considerable force with the hammer, but even small taps will slowly move the rotor off the shoes.

Just take your time and try to work around the rotor evenly. It will be much easier if you tap evenly around the rotor since it won't get crooked on the shoes and cause binding.

What type of tool is needed to remove a power steering pump pulley on a 1996 ford wind star?

You will need a pulley puller to remove a power steering pump on a 1996 Ford Windstar.

What causes oil to be in the air intake on a Ford Windstar 3.8 liter?

The PCV system is not operating properly and allowing crankcase pressure to build up. Replace the PCV valve and with the engine running check to see if air is being sucked into the engine from the opposite valve cover. If not it will need to be cleaned out.

This could also be a symptom of a recognized problem with Windstar 3.8l, that involves the intake ports leaking and carbon / oil buildup via the egr.

Another indicator that this MIGHT be a problem is getting P0171 and P0174 scan codes - they indicate a lean condition Bank 1 and Bank 2.

For reference, there is a TSB (technical service bulletin) officially recognizing the problem and a proposed remedy: TSB# 03-16-1

Why does the number 10 fuse burn out immediately after replacing it in a Windstar?

Many similar posts helped me fix the problem for less than $25. First open the hood and remove the air cleaner assembly (unscrew the hose clamp at the throttle body for one side, unclamp in the middle). The "nose" of the brake master cylinder will be visible. Directly under the "nose" is a pressure switch. It may be covered with brake fluid. Squeeze the sides of the electrical connector underneath, and pull it away. clean it with an electrical parts cleaner, or with alcohol (NOT with a soap-based cleaner or with lacquer thinner!). Replace the brake switch with one from the dealer (it's been redesigned, with a short wire connector, it should last the rest of the life of the car): Ford part no. SW-6351 "Brake Repair Kit." Note: you'll need a larger wrench or channel-lock pliers for the new part. Connect the electrical connector wire to the new switch on one end, to the old connector on the other end. Replace the air cleaner (clamp the assembly and don't forget to re-connect the pipe in the back of the air cleaner rubber bellows). Put in a new 15A fuse in slot #10 and you're ready to go. It takes about 25-30 minutes. When I replaced the pressure switch, my cruise control began working for the first time in months; the ABS and Brake warning lights went out, the heater and A/C work fine, and the speedometer is functioning again.

Assuming you are replacing a 10 amp fuse in a circuit that calls for a 10 amp fuse then you have probably got a short in that circuit and the fuse is doing it job by blowing and preventing a possible fire. or the device that the fuse is protecting is drawing more than 10 amps which is also a problem.

I believe we found a solution to Fuse #10 repeatedly blowing (takes out odometer, speedometer, air conditioning, and ABS light comes on). The master brake cylinder has a small leak that over time corrupted the brake pressure switch that sits right below the brake master cylinder. We replaced this part with the redesigned switch (SW-6351 XW7Z-9F924-BA Brake Repair Kit) and so far the fuse has not blown. This part cost about $25.00 through the Ford dealer.

My van was doing the same thing, dealer found leaking fluid from the brake master cylinder in the wiring harness just below the cylinder. New cylinder no more blown fuses

On our 2000 windstar we had the same issue and found that the switch that is mounted on the end of the brake master cylinder was shorting out due to brake fluid leaking from the end of the master cylinder. We got a new switch and made sure to put a good pipe thread sealant on before we installed it and we haven,t had a problem since. Hope this helps.

Can a fuse appear to be good but in actual fact be blown?

Yes

I have seen several fuse that appear ok, and in fact are defective.

The best way to test, is with a computer safe test light, there not cheap but if you want to get serious about auto electric you need one.

To test fuses, you are generally safe with the cheap kind.

1) Plug in or clip on your test light. 2) Test your test light against a known good source for voltage. 3) Turn on the ignition switch. 4) Probe both sides of your fuse, the results should be the same. Note that one or two may be cold on both sides (or negative if you have a computer safe tester) They generally power the interior lights. 5) If you find a fuse that is cold on one side and hot on the other, you have found the monster. 6) Replace it with the same type and size.

IF all tests well and you have glass fuses, test the metal clip on both sides that it clips into. They may require cleaning, and careful bending from water/ rust damage. If you have plug in fuses, check the integrity of the fuse holder.

I have seen all types and sizes of fuse, especially glass, that appear good, but are blown.

Relentless

Best way to check a fuse is take it out of the circuit and test its resistance. A good fuse will have very low resistance (less then 1 ohm). A bad fuse will measure "Overload" on your meter. You can get a cheap meter from and local hardware store for ten bucks. Even bring the fuse with you. The guy at the store will probably check it for free for you. Good luck.

Where is the temperature sending unit located on a 1998 Saturn?

look behind and probably a little below the return radiator hose on the drivers side of the engine, there should be two wires leading to a sensor in the side of the engine block. The wires should be yellow and black.

What would cause a 2000 ford windstar left power window not to go up and down?

3 things to look for

1. the door switch 2. broken wire between door and body 3. most likely the window motor has quit and will need to be replaced

Also try this!!!!

Stuck Armature BrushesMake sure the motor is in fact bad... Many times they just stop working because the armature brushes hang up and will not make contact with the motor armature. Sometimes you can slam the car door and this will jar the brushes and they will make contact with the armature. If this doesn't work you will need to remove the door panel and reach inside the door where the window motor is located and tap the electric motor with a small hammer or some other suitable object. While you are tapping the motor have someone hold the window switch in a functioning position, either up or down depending on the position of your window. I have done this many many times and hopefully it will work for you and you will not have to replace the motor. Good luck

This works great, just be careful when the window does start to move. Have whoever is tapping on the armature to remove their arm from the window path. I almost smashed my husband's hand!

I tried the armature brush thing. Worked great!! Thank you. I wasn't looking forward to replacing the motor.

I have a ford windstar 2003 and for the last one year either the front right or left power window has not been rolling down. AAA mechanics told me they have to strip the whole door so as to diagnose the problem which might cost up to $500 to fix. My car inspection was due this month and was not ready to spend that much. I came across your diagnosis and I tried it. First I did bang the door several times but didn't work and almost gave up. Then I switched on the car, closed the door, estimated the position of the armature and started banging the side of the door from the inside. Viola! within two minutes the window rolled down. Thanks for sharing you saved me a tone of money.

Where is the location of heater control valve on 1998 ford windstar?

It is likely the information will be similar to the 1997 / 1998 Windstar

What does error code P0303 mean?

It means that there is a misfire on cylinder number three. The cause could be in the ignition system (coil, plugs, plug wires), or high and low fuel pressure.

The air in your 98 windstar blows cold in rear but blows warm up front any tips?

#1 problem with Windstar climate control - the inability to adjust the temperature settings.

Heaters blow cold, A/C blow warm or hot.

There's a small actuator motor that moves the temperature blend door under the dash. Open all the way and the air picks up the maximum heat passing through the heater core. Close it and no air passed through the core.

The source of the problem is this motor fails.

Luckily, this is an easy do-it-yourself fix and the part is widely available.
