Have you first checked the fuse, that's the first place to look. The second place if the fuse is OK is the brake light switch and that;s on the brake pedal bracket, check the wires and just press the brake pedal and listen to see if you can hear it working, someone to look at the lights is helpful.

I have no idea why, but I do know a fix. Mounted to the bottom or side of your ECU is what appears to be a great big relay or contactor. If you unplug this connector and inspect both the inside of it as well as the contactor, you're going to see one pin that has been obviously overloaded. It will be charred on the connector side and melted on the relay/contactor side. The fix for this is simple, Just disconnect that pin. I used needle nose pliers and pulled it from the relay/contactor. You can just cut the wire, provided you protect the cut wire from shorting out properly. Now, I have absolutely no idea what this does. On my vehicle, it simply fixed it. But the year previous I had been having fuel pump wiring problems, and had put the fuel pump on it's own switch. It *may* trip the fuel pump relay or something. This is just a guess however, because it caused ZERO effects after I clipped the wire. I have no idea what that pin does or what it's for, other than to cause the fuel injection fuse to blow. =)

It depends on the use of the vehicle, and your preferences. With stock tire size, normal road use, with light loads, I would run 30 psi all around. If the handling does not suit you, you can adjust it somewhat up or down. For example, slightly increasing the front tire pressure may improve turn in, while costing straight line stability. Slight increase in rear tire pressue will do the opposite. Do not run tire pressures too low on the road at highway speeds - a fatal blowout could occur due to a standing wave running all the way around the tire, which will result in a blow out. This was one of the causes of the Ford Explorer blowout awhile ago - too low a tire pressure with excessive speed.

HI, The most obvious is no brake lights, the brake lights might be coming on and off as you press the brake pedal, do you hear the switch as you press the brake pedal? A brake light switch isn't hard to replace but the first thing to look at and check is the fuse, see if that's blown. A brake light bulb may also be bad but you need to look at the fuse first. sounds like avacuum leak to me, there should be a vacuum diagram on the under side of your hood. you need to check every thing in the diagram for leaks. the best way is to use a propane torch you do this by starting the motor the take the torch and open the gas valve ( DO NOT LIGHT THE TORCH then point the torch on all the lines and components if there is a leak any where the engines idle speed will change.

This may not be much help, but it sounds like there is a vapor lock. that is, there be be a venting problem causing a build up of vacuum and preventing fuel flow to the engine.

The security system is activated all the time unless the proper key is in the ignition its part of the gm vatsII system, the only time you will see the light on is if there is a problem with the resistor pellet in the key being out of range or if there is a problem with the computer that runs the system also known as the vats II brain. there is three parts to the system if you look up gm security system or vats II on the internet it will explain everything in detail and give diagrams.

Hi, I have to add that I have a '97 and I went out to find the flasher. All I can say is that I can hear it, but I can't find the darn thing. It sounds as if it's near the radio...but I'm befuddled. So just a small thing is the fuse first, it's located below the dash on the left. The other fuse is under the hood but that one is also for the ignition. I hope someone is able to locate the flasher itself. Steve H.

check your dipstick, is it milky light chocolate if so you have a cracked head or blown head gasket...

You may also have a faulty fan clutch on your radiator...After heating up it's suppose to kick in the fan...A bi metal spring that gets hot from the heat given off through the radiator closes the collar around the shaft...If it breaks or gets real crudy it won't do the job...When the motor is cool the fan free spins at a slow speed to assist warm up, closes and speeds up when hot to cool the engine...Runs from about $75-$120 bucks on the web for a new one...I just glued mine using a piece of rubber to make a wedge between the plastic blade and the metal shaft and let it run all the time.

I'm trying to put a 92 5 speed flywheel behind a 16 valve engine and it won't line up. So apparently the cranks and flywheels changed in 94.

16 valve engine not put in a Tracker till 1996. 1994 Tracker is 8 valve (but a Sidekick may have the 16 valve in 1994) Actually there were 16 valve Trackers before 96. I have an early 95 which is 16v version. I believe 16v engines started somewhere between 91-94. I do know that the valve covers usually state 16 valve when it is. ,the spark plugs in a 16 valve are waaayy down in the top of the engine,you need about a eight inch extention to get at them
