Where is the location of the coolant temperature sensor in a 1995 GMC Jimmy?
Coolant temp sensors are usually located very close to the thermostat housing, so follow the upper radiator hose to the engine, it will attach to the thermostst housing and you will see the coolant sensor close by.
What would cause a 1989 GMC Jimmy to not start up until it has cranked over about 6 to 8 times?
Try turning on the key for a few seconds to let fuel pressure build THEN try the starter. If it's just taking a few seconds to build fuel pressure you might solve the problem by not being in such a hurry. If the engine starts right up when you do that it could indicate a bad pressure regulator or a weak fuel pump.

How do you remove ignition cylinder on a 97 GMC Jimmy?
Before attempting any car repair, be sure to consult an owner's manual.
Begin by gently popping off the horn cover. The short wire that you see will go into a sleeve. Gently tug this wire and rotate it counterclockwise to remove it. The removal will likely cause the horn to beep. Once you've done this to unlock the connector, you can pull the steering wheel off with a steering wheel puller. Under the wheel, remove the black plastic disk, and push the metal notched disk into the wheel to unlock the retainer and remove it. Be careful when removing it as there is a stiff spring underneath it. The white turn signal switch will be underneat this. Remove the hazard switch first, and then turn the signal level screw. Then remove the 3 screws that hold the switch on. Then remove the lock cylinder retaining screw, turn the ignition to the run position and remove the assembly.

Which oil do you need for a 91 V6 Jimmy?
This information can be found in your owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can order one from a dealer. You may also find one at a salvage yard. I have a 91 S-15 Jimmy 4x4...4.3L...and I run 10W30 Valvoline in it year round. Depends on driving conditions and weather. 5w30 is a good middle of the road oil. Make sure the oil you use meets API standards. I just use 5w 30 year around. Especially in the cold weather it circulates easier. Honestly your owners manual should say 5w 30. However that is the manufacturers suggested oil for when the car was made. What weight oil you use especially for older cars should be based upon how many miles you have on it. If it's a 91 I'd say you have over 100k on the clock. Use 10w 30 year round. If you want in the summer you can use 10w 40 because oil tends to run thicker in the summer. If you notice any oil leaks then up the weight to 10w 40 and 20w 50 in the summer or use an oil additive such as Lucas.

Why is your steering so loose on your 2000 gmc jimmy?
The fleet of vehicles where I work have many S10's and Sonoma's 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive. The front end steering and suspension parts I see wear out the most are the idler arm and pitman arm joints on both 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive. On the 4 wheel drive the lower ball joints wear out fast. I also see the upper control arm bushings on the drivers side go bad from the heat coming off the exhaust manifold.
What causes the pushbutton style 4x4 to try to switch into fwd lo when normal driving?
Howdy, Pushbutton 4x4 use a electric motor to move the shifter fork in the transfer case to 4x4 and then into 4wd Lo range. This unit has a electric motor, a small gear box and a contact switch inside this little unit that is mounted to the transfer case. The contact switch is very light duty, and will either wear out or corrode from road salts, water, etc.
I have had many apart and the only way to fix this problem is to change the complete unit (Around $175.00) as they are not repairable. I have had a few apart to see exactly the workings.
What is happening is when your switch in in one position on the dash, the switch will make a contact in the contact switch on the motor telling the computer to turn on a light, which in turn makes to electric motor engage the transfer case into another position that you didn't call for, like 4x4 or 4x4 LO.
Replace this motor assy or it will tear out your transfer case. E-mail with more questions.

If the damage is minimal then try and remove the door panel so you can access the internal workings of the door and try to get the catch mechanism to release that way. Hope This Helps.

Don't hit it or kick it or push it or pull it...this is an easy one! When you pull up on your handle, these two arms on the handle in turn push two levers, one lever will pull on the right side rod and the other lever will pull on the left rod. After time these levers start to get bent out of shape from use. Eventually, when you pull up on your handle to open your tailgate usually one of the levers is so bent that is doesn't fully pull the rod enough to release the latch. One side might release but not the other. So here's what you do---lift up on the handle about halfways and look up under there. You can see where the two rods (the ends are in an 'L' shape) are inserted into plastic nuts. You can now see when you lift up the handle all the way which rod isn't getting pulled on---the one with the least movement. Those plastic rod clips clip onto the shaft of the rod after the tip of the rod is inserted into it. Let's first release the clips---Get a long flat-bladed screwdriver and position it under the part of the clip that is on the shaft. Pry up on it until it releases from the shaft. You can now push the 'L' shaped part of the rod out of the clip. Do that to the other clip also, although you might have to pry down on the clip to release it then remove the 'L' shaped end from the clip. Now you can manually pull the 'L' shaped ends of the rods towards each other to release the latches. Maybe a pair of pliers or needle-nosed pliers would be easier. Pushing on the tailgate to relieve the pressure on the latches may make it easier to pull on the rods too. You can also release one side at a time to open it. Once opened you can take the bent handle off of the tailgate and try to reposition the bent parts (which works a lot of the times) or just replace it. Just remove the three bolts on the inside of the tailgate and wiggle the handle out. Maybe hold the handle in the open position while removing it might help. Then you can operate the handle and see where everything makes contact with each other and see if you can put things back in the position they were supposed to be. When all is said and done be sure to WD-40 everything!!! Hope this helps
best of luck.
How do you replace a vs commodore ute fuel pump?
To replace the fuel pump, you firstly need to remove the fuel tank. Then you will be able to remove the fuel pump and replace it. Service repair manuals start at around $20 on eBay, and are a worthwile investment if you intend to carry out your own repairs. They are an absolute must if you have little or no experience.
How do you reset an air mass meter on a 2000 GMC Jimmy?
you can't "reset" the mass air flow sensor. However If you are picking up a code on the mass air flow senser odds are it is dirty. Simply remove the M.A.F.S. and spray it really good on both sides with carb cleaner. let it dry good before reinstalling (about 20 min). Hope this helps.
