The bottom half of rear door hatch will not open on your 99 suburban Top latch is ok but bottom feels like it is stuck was working okany help would be appreciated?

Mine started doing this, too. It appears to be an alignment problem with the locking mechanism. For now, continue to keep the key turned in the lock and lift the tailgate handle. Also, you can see inside the tailgate, to the right of the latch, a bracket and spring. Push this down slightly with a tool or your finger and the handle will work. More if I figure it out!

How do you Remove rear tail light 1998 suburban?

Open the rear doors and secure them so you don't get hit by them while you do this. Look in the sheet metal directly behind the tail light assembly you wish to fix. There should be two rubber plugs; if so, remove them to gain access to the bolts that hold the tail light assembly. I would recommend a magnetic tool, as these bolts can slip and fall into the crevices back there! Rotate the assembly away from the body. If you try to pry the unit off, you will break the mounting tabs located in the forward portion of the tail light assembly. This means you have to grasp the inside part of the assembly that is closest to the middle of the 'burban and rotate them forward towards the front of the vehicle. For example, the rear passenger side tail light assembly would be rotated out in a counterclockwise motion towards the fromt of the vehicle. Unscrew the light bulb holder assembly and remove the bad bulb. Replace it with an exact replacement, and use the dielectric grease! It keeps out the water and prevents the corrosion of the bulb contacts. Hope this helps!

Can you replace your 1994 gmc 350 engine in your suburban with a higher out put 350 engine and continue to operate it with the tbi system?

yes you can, but you will have to get you computer re-programmed for the new fuel requirments. It is alot easier to replace the TBI with a carb, then there is no computer to mess with. That's what I did.

What causes the fan belt to squeak the belt and tensioner has been replaced and it stopped for a while but it has started it again on a 2001 suburban?

This is likely not a belt squeak, but rather the idler pulley. In the belt routing area, there will be a pulley (either metal or plastic that the belt goes around which is not connected to any or device. Inside that pulley is a small bearing (about the size of a silver dollar. When the permanent lubed grease finally gives up, it will start to squeak or squeal depending on how bad it is. To test this, find this pulley and spray some WD-40 or similar lube into the area while running -WATCH FINGERS- !! If the squeak goes away temporarily, then this is likely the problem. You can also undo the serpentine belt and turn this pulley with your fingers - it will likely be rough or hard to turn.

How many degrees advance should you be set on sbc 350 with Vortec heads HEI distributor Edlebrock Performer manifold 488 lift 292 duration cam and should the timing be set without the vacuum advance?

Timing should always be set without vacuum hooked up. Initial timing should be around 12-15 BTDC at idle - around 24-26 BTDC at 3000 RPM's - and around 36-38 BTDC at 3000 RPM's with vacuum hooked up. There's (3) stages to timing on sbc:

10 degrees initial

10 degrees mechanical advance (the weighted springs in the distributor)

10 degrees vacuum advance These will vary depending on carb/intake/cam setups. Hope this helps!
The lower the compression, the more timing you'll need. Could be up to 18 degrees at idle (42 degrees total.) I'd start at 38 degrees total and go up and down a little at a time until you find the best performance.

That cam likes compression. The more the merrier. At least 10:1.

How do you troubleshoot and fix a bad gas gauge on a 1999 Suburban?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but My 99 Suburban has had problems with the gas gauge bouncing unexplainably between E and F, and doesn't read correctly. Turns out the Fuel Pump and sending unit attached to it needs to be replaced (just died in my driveway today). It is a time-consuming job, as the fuel pump assembly is located inside the gas tank.

How do you replace door latch on a 1999 gmc suburban?

ITS NOT EASY. MY EXPERENCE IS THAT YOU WILL ALMOST HAVE TO GUT THE DOOR. LOWER THE WINDOW REMOVE THE DOOR PANEL ( DISCONECT WIRING ) AND SET TO THE SIDE REMOVE SCREWS FROM METAL DOOR PANEL AND MINIPULATE IT OUT OF THE WINDOW TRACK (GOOD LUCK) REMOVE THE THREE TORX LATCH SCREWS FROM THE DOOR FACE (THEY HOLD THE LATCH IN THE DOOR) REMOVE THE TWO BOLTS THAT HOLD THE DOOR HANDEL IN PLACE (ONE INSIDE, ONE OUT) PRY CONECTING RODS OUT OF THEIR CLIPS (AGAIN GOOD LUCK) WITH ALL CONPONENTS LOSE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE LATCH A NEW LATCH IS ABOUT $60.00 BUCKS AND WILL HAVE NEW ROD CLIPS WITH IT, DEALER ITEM ONLY PLAN ONE BREAKING SOME OF YOUR PLASTIC DOOR PANEL STUDS SO PURSCHASE A FEW OF THEM WHEN YOU GET THE LATCH, THEY ALSO ARE DEALER ONLY

How do you disable a factory installed car alarm on a 97 gmc cheyenne?

Hi, my name is Cris and I work as a tech on alarm systems. I may be able to help you disable your alarm. I, however, would need you to answer some questions.
First of all, would you be able to post some pictures of the actual alarm(I.E. - LED, remotes) on this forum? How long ago did you buy this truck? Was it from a used car lot or a certified dealership?
All of these questions can help me determine what manufacturer installed the alarm on your truck and therefore better explain how to disable it.
Either way, a very overgeneralized and crude way to disable/remove the alarm from your vehicle is fairly easy if you know where to look. A few places may consist of.... If you remove the driver side kick panel, it may reveal some wiring that is almost unmistakeable. All car manufacturers like clean wiring. Alarm companies 'tap' into these wires to integrate the Alarm. Most companies never cut and splice, instead they have a very noticeable 'tap' that looks like a very small plug that was crimped to a wire. Usually you will see five or more of these 'taps' behind the kick panel. Those you can just pull off because the plugs belong to the alarm's wiring harness, not the vehicle's.
Also, if you look under the driver side dash, you may be able to see the alarm's 'brain' or control unit. Usually, the 'brain' consists of one or two small plastic boxes with a few plugs attatched. The 'brain' is usually anchored with one or more zip ties. You may be able to disable the alarm by merely unplugging the 'brain'. I suggest trying this first and then attempt to start the vehicle. Most alarm companies have a starter diable therefore certain alarm companies have a tamper secured 'brain' that does not allow you to start the car if it is unplugged. So try unplugging one at a time and try to start the vehicle after each. If that works, your fine.
If it doesnt, the last thing would be detatching the panel under the steering column. there will be another set of 'taps' that you must unplug. Any wires that are cut at that point will usually be crimped together. Remove the crimps and crimp the vehicle's wire's back together.(those are color coded for your convinience. At that point, attemp to start the vehicle.
If that doesnt work, answer some of my questions and post some pictures of the areas ive explained to you. Good Luck
