If you can smell hot ATF it is probably leaking from somewhere and getting all over the exhaust. Look very carefully for any leaks. It could be dripping from the seal around the transmission pan or more commonly out the axel.
Where is the crankshaft posion sensor in a 92 civic?
Remove the engine brush cover under the front of the engine. Remove the drive belt to make changing the sensor easier (optional). Remove the lower timing belt cover and the crankshaft pulley to access the crankshaft position sensor.
Disconnect the electrical modules from the crankshaft position sensor, located next to the alternator. Take off the bolts with a socket wrench and remove the sensor.

(02 civic air filter, broken screws)
First of all, you may notice that some of the screws are spinning with broken bolt holders. If this is the case then you won't be able to open the top of the air filter case. I've read a few theories about why the screws are freely spinning but the best explanation I heard from a mechanic is that Honda dealer mechanic probably over torqued it with an air tool. Anyway, if this is the case then you will have to carefully break the top or bottom screw holders to undo the screws. I would rather break the bottom because that is where things are broken. You can buy a bottom for $90 or so. Once you get the top off one way or another then replacing the filter is pretty easy. Life the old and drop a new one then tighten the screws. But if you had to replace the bottom case then undo 3 screws that hold the case to the car then carefully remove the whole case - there are 4 connecting points, one where air comes in, one where air feeds into the engine and one plug type thing that looks to be an air flow monitor, and lastly one rubber pipe that is about 3/4 inch thick, not sure what this is but this is held by a clip. You will also need to release the tightening ring (?) from the pipe that feeds air into the engine (about 3" thick). After all these steps the case should life out. Replace the bottom with a new one then reverse the steps to put the case back in to its place. The whole thing took me about 30 mins ... a real mechanic can probably do this in 10 mins.
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!!
Good luck.
How about on a 2004 Honda Civic?
I have a 2004 Honda Civic with only 2 bolts/screws. The screws come out cleanly with a 10mm socket. However, the top of the housing will not lift off. I could pry but am afraid I may break something. Are there snaps inside that will release if I pry?
Thank you

Why does my 99 escort zx2 blinkers blink to fast?
Check all of your blinker lights. There are two in each tail light, one in each center signal, and one at the corner of each headlight, a total of 8 lights should blink when you have the flashers on. If a bulb is burnt out, it will increase the blink rate. Also, installing LED's in the tail lights will cause the blink rate to increase.

How do you replace a clutch cable in a 1991 Honda Civic DX?
Remove the transmission side of the cable first. To do this you grab the cable with one hand and pull the cable up slightly to release pressure on the black tensioning nut. Unscrew the nut until it doesn't touch the transmission anymore. The cable is now loose enough to pull the bottom gromet sideways through the clutch arm. You will see there is a gap or notch in the arm where you can slip the cable sideways through it. Then pull the cable up through the hole where the nut was tensioned.
Next get inside the car and lay upside down (facing up) under the dash. Follow the clutch pedal up to the top with your hand, to where the clutchpedal has a hook. The cable is simply hooked onto the pedal. Slip the cable end off the top of the hook on the pedal.
Then head back to the engine bay and pull the cable out of the hole in the engine compartment. Pretty simple, you can do it in 10 minutes.

Engine loose power with ac on?
This may be a simple matter of a dirty throttle body. These trucks are dependant upon the use of "top Tier" Gasoline. If you do not use it it usually leads to rough idle and AC problems.
There are also issues with PCM programming that will induce the fan clutch to run more at idle an lower RPM. Then the issue of the fan clutch failing on the early model years.

Where is the radiator fan switch on a 98 Civic?
I have a 96 Honda Civic and the fan switch is located on the thermostat housing, which is connected to the back left part of the engine (if you are looking from the front of the car). To help you find it, there will be a hose connected to the therm housing that leads to the bottom of the radiator. The fan switch is gold colored and will have a wire connected to it. Disconnect the wire by pressing in the tab on the connector. To change the fan switch, I would recommend you use a deep socket (22mm, i think). hope that helps RZ

Power fluctuation is when the voltage in your house begins to fall and rise faster.
Two causes of power fluctuations:
> If you have a vacuum cleaner, fridge, computer and other large appliances, once they turn on at the same time, you notice the lights flicker a little bit and your AVR starts clicking, thats the sign of fluctuation. The power dips and it goes back to normal.
>During storms, you notice that before the power outage comes, your lights are beginning to blink and your other appliances are also beginning to turn off and on faster, thats also the sign of fluctuation.
And also the most dangerous among power problems that can really destroy your appliances are:
1. Surges
and
2. Lightning strike

There are no timing marks on the water pump.the only timing marks are on the crankshaft and camshaft gears. And if you're working on a quad-four engine as I suspect you are,you will need to line up the holes in the cam sprockets with the holes in the block and insert pins to hold them in place. The correct size drill bits will work good for this if you don't have the special GM tool.
