Where is the g sensor located on a 1997 Isuzu rodeo 3.2l ecu codes p1390 p1391 p1392?
G sensor is right side of frame Could you be a little more specific please?
Does a b20 fit in any prelude?
you can fit any motor into any car with the right amount of money and customization but why would you down grade? do u have an h22 or f22? get an h22 and put work into it it'll be a lot easier and you'll save a lot of money putting a b20 into a prelude is not worth it
How do you set the clock on a Honda Prelude?
what year? if it's a third gen there's buttons right next to the display.
What could cause an electrical circuit to go dead and several hours later restart?
Electrical circuit do not go dead but theyreliably shut down. If there is a thermal protection circuit supervising the heat dissipated that would the circuit to shut down until it cools and start again and probably repeat the cycle.
What causes an engine to stall at idle but run fine over 1000 RPM?
Your throttle body is probably dirty,The throttle body has a hose from the air filter housing attached to it,the throttle body is attached to the intake phlenum.Take the hose off(its rubber with a clamp on it).Do this with a cold engine, NOT RUNNING ! spray some carburetor cleaner inside the venturi and scrub it with a toothbrush,on the side of the throttle body there is a place where a cable goes into, twist the direction of cable to open the throttle plate(inside the throttle body),and continue to clean. Now put it all back together. What happens over a period of time is the Throttle body gets clogged with carbon and cannot breath at idle, the throttle plate when close(at idle)has a very small air gap and cant breath when dirty. If this does not cure your problem, then you will need to consider having your ais motor check.ais= automatic idle speed motor. For this you will have to take the throttle body off to replace it and the screws have been installed with locktight and are tricky to get out. ,I did not know what year or make of car, but its a common problem since the fuel injectors took the place of the carburetors.
I had this problem just two days ago. When the rpm goes below 1000 it stalls; visible black smoke is also observed at the exhaust when it's rev up. Try changing the air filter as this might be clogged up causing an inefficient air/fuel ratio. When there's not enough air going into the system complete combustion is not achieve causing this problem. Good luck. Pls let me know if it solve your problem.
AnswerI had a similar problem. My 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee would run fine whenever I would accelerate, but once I took my foot off the gas, the RPMs would drop to zero and stall. Sometimes it would drop to zero than catch idle out low, but stall again later. I got a $300 tune up that did nothing. The problem turned out to be my IAC motor, or the Idle Air Control Valve which sold for $80 at the dealership ($30 at Autozone). If your car is doing this, replace this part! It would also stall whenever I took a turn slowly or tried to pull into a parking spot. ! Thanks to this forum, I diagnosed this as my problem, and I want to share with everyone else who may be experiencing this frustrating problem.(addition by LucheLibre) My 87 Jeep Wrangler had the same problem. Did some research and found that older jeeps use very thin idle tubes mounted in the venturi. These can easily become clogged and fuel will back up and come out the main nozzles, causing the Jeep to run too rich and die. The solution is quite simple. Pull the air cleaner housing and choke plate off--remember to keep an eye on how the choke linkages are connected to the carb--unscrew the venturi and pull it out. You can't miss the tubes. Run a long, very thin wire or pin down the tubes and then reinstall everything in the reverse order. Your Jeep will literally be good as new. If the same problem comes up again, then your float bowl is junky and clogging the tubes again. Clean the bowl and change your fuel filter.
AnswerI have a 1996 sunfire 2.2 litre engine that is doing the same thing, i have replaced fuel pump, plugs, wires, fule filter, air filter etc. AnswerThe fuel injectors get dirty and clogged. I add some fuel injector / carburetor cleaner to the gas tank and it usually clears the stalling at idle problem. AnswerI am experiencing the same problem with my 96 eclipse RS. I replaced the air filter- that didnt help, i added fuel cleaner- that did nothing- I have a fule filter but i don't want to waste the money if that's not the problem id rather return it and get my money back! So let me know what works for you guys experiencing the same problem! Thanks a million! AnswerMy 1999 PONTIAC Montana would stall intermittently when I would remove my foot from the accelerator and slow down. Dealer replaced the IAC motor and cleaned out the throttle body but the problem persisted. I disconnected the connector to the throttle motor and the air intake dampers and bent the contacts to improve contact mating. Frequency of stalling was greatyly reduced. Next I will clean the contacts to remove oxidation.GM uses cheap tin plated contacts. Answeri had the same problem as the 96 eclipse, but with me 91 Mazda... the main problem was the air hose so we duck taped it up until we buy a replacement. a little bt later the whole engine went bad and the head was warped and had a few cracks. Had that fixed and it ran great, then we started seeing whitish blue smoke from the exhaust... we're going to replace a vacuum modulator and a seal that a friend just added to the car after breaking the new one. We had also replaced several things first and tried the fuel cleaner. Nothing seemed to work or it would run okay for a mile then start up with its bad again. Good luck. AnswerIdle control valve is not working. If it is a fuel injection system, check the fuel pressure controller also as these go hand in hand. AnswerThe "automatic idle speed motor" may also be known as the "Throttle Position Sensor," but it could also be the "Idle Intake Valve." The latter would be the one I would look at, since it's the one that's taking in air while the car is idling, i.e---sitting still with the motor running. If it's clogged, your car will die when it's not requesting power from the engine to accelerate.Answer:
I've never known an "automatic idle speed motor" to be considered a throttle position sensor. An "idle speed motor" is just another name for an "idle air control valve" or "IAC". I've seen this concern many times. Most of the time it was caused by gunk becoming lodged inside the IAC passage. That's one of the easiest things to inspect at least.
AnswerHave you checked all the corroborator vacuum hoses. That sounds incredibly the same as the problem I experienced with a Honda I owned once, the solution a mechanic showed me was to use a pair of needle nose pliers and slightly clamp on each hose at both ends ( without clamping hard enough to break the hose ) until the engine would idle normally. That said once the problem vacuum hose is located you would merely replace the hose, about a .99$ fix at autozone. Take the hose in with you to compare. Tell them what its for and the specifics to make sure the hose will last.Another possibility, a stuck open or sticking EGR valve would also cause those symptoms.
How do you loosen the brake fluid leads from the master cylinder?
First spray a little Penetrating fluid into join and junction where the petrol (metal) lines screw onto the petrol filter. I generally leave for a few hours !! then spray a little more just before undoing. Always try to undo the hardest to get to first. These joins are always very tight as they have a slight taper and bind up. Make sure you use a side spanner with a very neat fit and wide enough to catch onto the whole nut surface. I stress this because once damaged and burred, its hard to get service on the spanner. Then position spanner so you can hold it in one hand and give a quick belt to end of spanner with palm of other hand. !!! you have to sort of crack the bond quickly and usually they come fairly easy, but may take a few goes. Put some rags around to protect your knuckles and palm of your hand unless your really tough and like pain. If the spanner wont go on properly due to damaged nut!! you will have to try vice grips or take to a mechanic. Try to crack the joint quickly,i found trying to undo these petrol lines slowly with gradual force generally results in damage to the nut.I did mine 2 days ago ok in a few minutes.Make sure you screw threads back in accuratley or you can strip threads..its easier to put them back in if you undo the filter from the firewall to start nuts into holes then tighten down the fuel filter and tighten nuts off on the lines last. cheers Kiwi Craig
Why does my 98 GMC Yukon shutter or hasitate when accelerating but appears normal at idle?
There are many factors that can be causing this. It sounds like you are losing fuel pressure and there are many things that contribute to it. To begin with a basic, check your air filter. If it is clogged, the engine can get enough air to breathe when idling but when accelerating it starves for air. Check that first. Your fuel pump may be going out. It develops enough pressure to keep the engine at idle but when the demand for fuel is needed, it doesn't supply enough pressure to keep up with demand. Your fuel filter may be clogged restricting the flow of fuel from the tank to the engine, I would check this second after the air filter. Your injectors may be clogged, supplying just enough fuel to idle but not enough at demand. Run 2 or 3 bottles of Techron available at Walmart or Autozone. Add it to your gas tank. The Techron cleans a lot of the sulpher off the fuel pump and even the fuel gauge sending unit. It can't hurt If you can find someone with a fuel pressure gauge that can be attached to the fuel rail, have them check your fuel pressure. Your MAF (Mas Air Flpw Sensor) may need cleaning Your TPS ( throttle position sensor)may be going out. If the engines stumbles or shudders many times it will set a check engine light and by having the code read from your car's diagnostic port, you can get an idea of at least where to begin to look for your problem. To isolate it to one thing without some testing is like shooting in the dark.
What is the firing order for a Honda Prelude?
The firing order of a Honda Prelude is 1,3,4,2. it is the same on all 4 cylinder Honda's
Is 1997 Honda prelude vtec an interference engine?
The H22 engine, which are found in 1997 Honda Preludes, are interference engines. This means that the valves and pistons do indeed make contact as the engine is on.
How do you adjust valves on your Honda goldwing gl1100?
Engine must be Stone-Cold . . . that's overnight-cold.
1. Remove the valve covers by loosening the four 10-mm bolts evenly and in a diagonal pattern. This helps to avoid distorting the covers.
Orient yourself to the piston numbers. The first time on an unfamiliar engine it's good practice to make numbered masking tape labels and stick them near the set of valves for each cylinder. (Sitting on the bike they are: Right-Front is #1, Left-Front is #2, Right-Rear is #3, Left-Rear is #4.)
2. Remove the spark plugs. Remove the timing mark cover and rotor bolt cover.
3. Place a 12-mm offset-box-end wrench on the rotor bolt. Rotate the engine clockwise until the intake valve on #1 cylinder opens and closes. Pull up only! You do not want to loosen that rotor bolt. #1 Intake is the upper valve on the right front cylinder.
4. Continue rotating until the flywheel's T-1 mark is aligned with the index marks on the case. #1 is now at TDC (top dead center).
5. Check the clearance on the following valves by running the correct size feeler gauge between the valve stem head and the adjusting screw.
#1 Intake - - .004" (.1 mm) - - - right front, top
#1 Exhaust - .005" (.13 mm) - - right front, bottom
#3 Exhaust - .005" (.13 mm) - - right rear, bottom
#4 Intake - - .004" (.1 mm) - - - left rear, top
6. If the gap on a valve is incorrect, loosen the nut with a 10-mm box wrench and screw the adjuster in or out with your screwdriver. Use a light touch here and don't push in on the screwdriver. Turn the screw in until the feeler gauge won't move, then back off slowly until it just starts to move. You want just a little resistance to movement here. When it's correct, the next size larger gauge will not easily slide in and the next one smaller will be sloppy-loose.
7. When the adjustment is correct, tighten the nut while holding the adjustment screw in position with the screwdriver.
8. Torque the locknuts to 9-12 lb.ft. (1.2-1.6 kgf m) and re-check the clearance on #1 intake and exhaust, #3 exhaust and #4 intake. Adjust any that are incorrect.
9. Rotate the engine 360° clockwise until the T-1mark is again lined up the the index marks. #2 piston is now at TDC. Check and adjust the clearance on the following valves as you did in Steps 6 & 7.
#2 Intake - - .004" (.1 mm) - - - left front, top
#2 Exhaust - .005" (.13 mm) - - left front, bottom
#4 Exhaust - .005" (.13 mm) - - left rear, bottom
#3 Intake - - .004" (.1 mm) - - - right rear, top
10. Torque the locknuts to 9-12 lb.ft. (1.2-1.6 kgf m) and then re-check the clearance on #2 intake and exhaust, #4 exhaust and #3 intake. Adjust any that are incorrect.
11. An additional check should be done at this time as described in Steps 12 -15.
12. Rotate the engine 360° clockwise. #1 intake will open and close. Align T-1 to the index marks. #1 is now at TDC. Check #1's intake and exhaust valve clearance and re-adjust if needed.
13. Rotate the engine 180° and align the T-2 mark. #3 is now at TDC. Check/adjust valve clearance on #3.
14. Rotate the engine 180° and align the T-1 mark. #2 is now at TDC. Check/adjust valve clearance on #2.
15. Rotate the engine 180° and align the T-2 mark. #4 is now at TDC. Check/adjust valve clearance on #4.
16. Inspect, clean/replace gaskets and refit the valve covers. Torque the 10-mm bolts to 6-9 lb.ft. (.8-1.2 kgf m) evenly and in a diagonal pattern.
17. Inspect, clean/replace O-rings and refit the timing mark cover and rotor cover. Do not overtighten!
18. Go for a ride and enjoy the weather.
NOTE: Valve clearance varies on GL1000 and GL1200. Consult your manual for details. Also, on a GL1000 you should follow this with ignition points and timing adjustments.
Now, a good carb. sync. is probably in order. Use Randakk's Carb Synchronization Procedure.
What is better for a Honda 01 Prelude Turbo or Supercharger?
I would install a turbo, due to the availability different turbo kits, I think only Jackson racing is the only company advertising a supercharger for the prelude. Turbo kit has room to grow, easier to modify, better fuel economy, etc.
What size engine is in a 91 Honda Prelude si?
there are multiple versions on the B20, and a rare b21. just depends on the trim package
Check your air intake, maybe your car cant get enouhg air at lower revs due to a blockage in the airintake?
Why would an electric motor on a 1986 300ZX keep going after the car is turned off?
the Fan motor will keep running fort a short time after the car is shut off. the motor actually gets hotter after it is shut off so the fan cools it for a few minutes before cutting off. Actually, on all the mid 80s 300zx engines, there is a fuel injector cooling fan that directs cooling air on the injectors for a specific amount of time after the car has been run at normal operating temps and then shut off. Is your car a turbo z? If so then the fan that comes on is the fan that cools off the turbo after the key is shut off. Maybe you have an aftermarket fan set up for the air conditioner, but there again they usually come on while idling with the air on, but they generally shut off when the key is turned off. The fan is not used for cooling the turbocharger. The turbocharger itself is watercooled and does not have a need for a fan. The electric fan is for cooling the fuel injectors as mentioned in the previous post.
How do you compress the brake cylinder on the rear disc brakes of a 1988 Honda Prelude Si?
Takes a special tool. The caliber must be twisted as it is compressed. HONDA DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I NEEDED A SPECIAL TOOL FOR THE CALIPERS BUT I USED A PAIR OF BIG WIRECUTTERS AND PUT THE POINTS OF THE WIRECUTTERS IN THE SLOTS AND TWISTED THEM WHILE I APPLIED PRESSURE. WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!!! On my 89 Prelude Si, the slots in the rear piston were large enough that I was actually able to use the edge of my used brake pad. The brake pad slid PERFECTLY into the slot, and the size of the brake pad allowed me to grip it well with a good part of my thumb and a few fingers to be able to put some good torque into it. Also, using the brake pad meant that it used the entire slot on the piston, so that pressure is distributed more evenly; no slipping and scratching things up with a pair of pliers, keeping your fingers/knuckles a lot happier. I used a open end wrench and a pair of vise grips to turn it
I used a c clamp
How do you change the high pressure power steering line on 1989 prelude si?
You need to get a Haynes Automotive manual for your Prelude. It would be a simple swap but it is hard to get to the back side hook up at the rack. Just do like I did and take the entire power steering unit out and feel the road once again!
It has a Better spray pattern and also will inject fuel in the open intake valve (indirect injection).
Will a 1990 Honda civic automatic transmission fit 1990 Honda prelude si?
No. The Prelude has a B20A5 motor. The civic will have a D-series tranny. They will not interchange (B and D series parts do not interchange).
Why did Honda discontinue the Prelude?
Because of the economy, and it began to lose sales to other models in Honda's lineup (ie: s2000, Honda Accord coupe, Civic Si coupe).
I had this problem for a while. I believe I replaced a relay or fuse to solve it. I know the solution wasn't expensive.
How do you replace the speedometer cable on a 1989 Honda Prelude SI?
The speedo cable on the 89 prelude is a 2 piece unit. One part originates at the transmission, from the speed sensor unit or something like that. This part mates with the other half midway along the rear side of the valve cover. The second half winds its way to and through the firewall on the drivers side and comes into the cabin just above the clutch pedal or where it would be if an automatic. Here it snakes up and clips onto the back of the gauge cluster. The part that goes into the cabin is easy to disconnect from the cluster but a pain to work out of the firewall. The first half can be a real pain to get the securing clip off the speed sensor to release it. The Chilton's manual does a good job of representing this. Hope this helped.
Is it possible to convert a 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0 si from a manual to an automatic transmission?
Anything is possible but this is not feasable as it will cost too much. Trade cars.
Both feasible and easy to do. Just locate a donor car in a junkyard and get the transmission, flywheel, clutch cable, and clutch pedal assembly. Then remove your automatic and bolt all the manual stuff in. At most you will have to cut a hole in the floor for the Standard transmission shifter. If you have mechanical experience and another car to drive while yours is down then have at it, otherwise find someone that does have some experience and supply them with the parts needed.
its possible just you're gonna have to take your time cause you're gonna have to swap your ecu with a prelude that was an automatic and you will have change alot of things like you master cylinder will not be needed the clutch paddle and of course the tranny wouldn't be needed either but your best is to just buy a new car cause its gonna cost you out the tail just to swap it from manual to automatic
