The neutral safety switch and backup light switch are one in the same. You have to replace it. It is located on the transmission where the shifter connects to it.

Every 3,000mi (5,000km) is the safest choice. Certain conditions will require more or less frequent changes, but with that interval you can't really go wrong.

First thing is to check the fuses and relays. You should have a fuse box under your dash probably near the pedals, another fuse box under the hood probably on the passenger side. If fuses are good check any brake relays, if not sure how to check them take them to a parts store and they should be able to diagnose them. Next, check your bulbs, should be just a few screws to loosen on your brake lights, once again if you're not sure if they're okay parts stores are great just show them the bulb and they will know if it's bad. Now is a good time if your bulbs are good to make sure the ground wires and other assembly wires are connected going to the bulb. If those are good, check under the hood for any wires not connected to anything. If there's some wires loose they just might be for the brakes. Check especially for all ground wires, the ones that connect to any metal part of the car. If all those possibilities are exhausted, check your brake master cylinders, if there's a problem with braking performance this could be the cause, just trace the brake lines to cylinders, should be silver in color. Make sure wires are connecting to them, if there's any frayed wires or disconnected wires that would do it. If still a problem exists you may have to use a mechanic, you could always call shops and ask for advice some are quite willing to offer advice and if they don't want to you should stay away it may mean they just want you to come in and spend money, good luck.

Put the transfer case lever in a position with a "4" next to it and you are in 4wd.

Longer body mount bolts and hockey pucks with holes drilled through dead center is the cheapest, of course you will need to get extended break lines same as on any body lift kit just way cheaper

you wont need extended break lines with a 2" body lift you will need to pop some break line mounts and carefully bend existing ones to work just fine

I broke the high/low beam switch on the steering wheel and don't want to take the column apart to replace it, I want to tie a switch in, which is legal for an inspection sticker so we can drive it again, thx. it would at least just help to find a free wiring diagram.

If no-one has changed the locks then they should be the same. however if the lock has been changed you would expect there will be 2 different keys, if the person who had it done did not pay extra to have them matched. Hope this helps.

Your Grand Cherokee may be the "Quadradrive" model, which means it is full time AWD or 4WD. This means all 4 wheels are engaged all the time, no changing between 2WD, 4 Hi and 4 Low. Just something to check, if there is no pushbutton 4WD or hand lever (2WD, N, HI, LOW) to change drivetrain. Hope it helps!

I had this problem with my 95 Jeep Wrangler. When I had to replace the starter I happened to have to replace the battery at the same time and it starts a lot faster. Of course it could be dirty injectors or something like that but that is what took care of mine. Apparently my starter was "tired" and finally went out. Having a good battery will deliver more juice to the starter also. Hope this helps. Apparently it is a older Jeep problem. The newer ones don't seem to have such a problem. ********************* Well I have a pretty new battery (Less than a year old) in the Jeep. I will try fuel injector cleaners in the next few days. When I turn the key to the ON position for a few seconds, and then back to OFF, and then start, it will start almost instantly. Eventually I might get a new starter. Thank you for your response!

Is it possible that the Jeep is a Laredo with an alarm. My jeep did the same thing after I installed a new starter. What I had to do was close the driver side door, lock it, and then unlock it to disable the alarm. Hope this helps.
