Where did the Cherokees live at?
The Cherokee's first lived in what is now Arkansas and portions of southern North Carolina. In fact, by a signed treaty the Cherokee entered into an agreement with the United States to take the land, now known as Arkansas and formed "The Cherokee Nation." When gold was discovered in Arkansas, General Tyler was dispatched to 'relocate' the Cherokee Nation, although they were a viable entity. This move characterized by 'The Trail of Tears' is when the Cherokee were relocated to Oklahoma; in an attempt to kill all Cherokee's General and later President Tyler issued blankets infected with the small pox virus to the freezing Cherokee.
The Cherokee are an American Indian Nation, that wasoriginally from what is now much of the southeastern United States, Cherokee lands used to be almost all of Tennessee, much of North Carolina, and also spread through Virgina, Georgia, Kentucky, West Virginia, Alabama and South Carolina. Cherokee had a unique culture, and are the largest Indian Nation today. The Cherokee traditional Religion has been said to be the most like the Abrahamic Religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) out of all other religions known. Cherokee were fearsome and skilled warriors, known throughout the lands, the historic "arch rival" Nation to the Cherokee were the neighboring Chickasaw. Seven clans made up Cherokee society, Cherokee were born into your mother's clan and they could not marry into their mother's clan, this custom kept you from marrying relatives. Cherokee made fairly advanced homes, and the capital was Echota, no crime was allowed here. Cherokee were involved in a terrible episode known as the Trail of Tears, and it is probably the most well known point in time throughout Cherokee history, was when the United States government forced the Cherokee out of their Native lands after they had assimilated quite well for the most part with the invading races of men. They were forced into Oklahoma, well over 4000 Cherokee died on this Trail of Tears, however a large amount of Cherokee took refuge in the Smokey Mountains and escaped removal. In spite of this Cherokee culture has lived on, today most Cherokee live in Oklahoma, Tennessee and North Carolina. But they have spread throughout much of the USA, and intermarried with many other groups of people.
In Cherokee, the word for "gift" is "ᎩᎦ" (pronounced "gigage"). Gifts hold significant cultural importance in Cherokee traditions, often symbolizing respect, love, and community bonds. Traditionally, they are exchanged during ceremonies and gatherings to strengthen relationships and express gratitude.
How do you change the rear main seal in 1991 Jeep Cherokee 4.0?
Well I have heard two options, the Dealer and another person on this forum say to remove the transmission to get to the main. The shop manual I have along with one other mechanic, and an offroad company that deals, exclusively with Jeeps states the rear main seal is a two part seal, only requiring the oil pan to be pulled. That however is not the easiest job either. But the advantage is it allows you also to replace the oil pan gasket, rear main and the Front cam seal. All of which are probably the same age and would makes sense to replace while the thing is apart, considering the seals and gaskets themselves are cheap. I believe one reason the dealer wont go this route is so they can have you back in a short time later for the front seal or the pan gasket. I don't know that there is a big difference in labor cost. But to me if you are going to spend that much in labor, get as many parts replaced at one time to prevent having to do it again. the estimates I have, are the job is quoted at 8 to 10 labor hours. So shopping around for a shop with the cheapest hourly labor rate can literally save hundreds. My dealer wanted 85 per hour while a shop accross town only wants 40 per hour that's a 450 dollar savings right there. Also note pulling the oil pan though possible in your driveway, but is easier with a lift
Would using water instead of coolant cause jeep cherokee's engine to over heat?
No, it would not. Because the system is pressurized, the water would not evaporate as readily, and, even if it did, there is nowhere for it to escape to.
However, using water instead of coolant is not recommended because in coolants there are many additives for things like anti-rust, anti-corrosion, and lubricants for the water pump and seals. Using the antifreeze raises the temperature at which the mixture would boil, reducing the chance of a boil over especially in warm climates.
What does it mean when the check gauge light of a 97 jeep Cherokee turns on?

1995 Grand Cherokee Rear lamp error?
If you have a brake light at the top of your rear windshield, check those bulbs. Hard to determine if only one of them is out but that is probably your problem - worked for me. How do you fix a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee rear hatch it will not open?
If the hatch will not open you need to enter from the back seats, on the right hand side is a small plastic piece that will come off when you pry it. It is an access door to the actuator that controls the lock from here u can simply push up or down to unlock the hatch and it will open. The most liekly cause is that it is broken and you will need to take off the entire back cover and replace the locking mechanism go to the dealer they are around 50-75 or less cant remember. But once you have the access door open you can unlock and open the hatch.
I did not come up with these instructions but they worked so well for me on my 1999 Cherokee that I wanted to post them here. "YooperEE" Is the source of this tutorial and I feel he deserves credit for such a straightforward solution to an incredibly frustrating problem.
Since most of the screws that hold the inner hatch panel in place are not accessible when the hatch is closed, most people resort to cutting or breaking apart the inner panel, readjusting the opener mechanism and then buying a new inner panel. DO NOT DO THIS!
Here is what worked for me on my 1996 Grand Cherokee.
1. Straighten out a metal coat hanger and bend a small hook on one end.
2. Remove the top screws on the inner panel.
3. Gently pull the top of the panel open about an inch and shine a flashlight inside the hatch. Mine has the pop up glass which makes this a little easier.
4. Slide the hooked end of the coat hanger inside the hatch while a friend works the release handle up and down.
5. Inside the hatch, at the bottom you will see the release arm moving. Simply hook the arm with the coat hanger and pull up! (I found I could easily reach it with my index finger)
6. It may take a few tries, but the hatch will open easily.
I was able to open my hatch in less than 15 minutes by myself. Once the hatch opens, remove the remaining screws and you will see that the release arm is adjustable. The arm is threaded and simply pops into a metal clamp. Pop it out of the clamp, pull up on the arm to take up as much slack as possible, and pop the arm back into the clamp. Replace the inner pannel and your done.

What is a flex plate in a 1991 Jeep Cherokee?
A "flexplate" is the part that replaces the flywheel on vehicles with automatic transmission. Manual transmissions need a clutch assembly to transmit power from the engine crankshaft, to the transmission. That clutch assembly is mounted to the flywheel. A flywheel is a thick, heavy steel plate that can dissipate the heat generated by the operation of the clutch. It also generates inertia which smoothes engine rpms at lower speeds, and helps prevent stalling of the engine while accelerating from a stop. Since vehicles that have automatic transmissions do not need a clutch, neither then do they need a flywheel. They do however still need a mechanical coupling between the engine crankshaft and the transmission. The "flexplate" is that mechanical coupling. Because there is no clutch heat to be dissapated, the flexplate is thin, and generally has holes in it for purposes of lightening the plate, thereby reducing inertia. Because automatic transmissions have hydraulic pumps and internal clutches, to take the place of clutch slippage during acceleration, the need for inertia is eliminated. The flexplate also has the teeth for engagement of the starter motor, usually a hardended ring of teeth, welded to the outer perimeter of the flexplate. If you are familiar with the term "torque converter", and understand it's function, then you will know that the torque converter is mounted to the rear face of the flexplate. It all has to do with power transmission to the transmission itself. It is rather common for a flexplate to need replacing after many miles. They are prone to cracking around the center hole or mounting bolt holes, (they are mounted on the rear face of the engine crankshaft) or the starter ring teeth may be badly worn. Replacement of a flexplate is similar to clutch replacement, and involves removing, or at least moving the transmission rearward, to access the clutch/flexplate area. Hope this makes sense to you, and helps with your problem.
I don't think anyone can answer this for you without seeing and hearing the jeep. Listen to it while it's running and try to locate the noise. Be careful because the exhaust is hot and the fan will be moving while on
My 95 Jeep Cherokee sport windows don't work wouldn't go up or down what can i do?
Leave them up and fix the A/C Take it to a qualified mechanmic Cant diagnose over the computer -- First, check the fuse/circuit breaker under hood or in fuse panel. (see owners manual depending on year)
One thing to check is the splice for ground wire (black) in the flex-boot between door and frame. The door switch only has that one path to ground, and will make your mirrors/windows/lock quit working. If the switches light up (97+), but the windows don't work, then this is not your problem. The other windows also won't work if the harness splice failed, as they see the window lock button as "locked".
Use a test light at the connector to the window controls, there should be 12V between Tan and Black, larger diameter wires. If no voltage, check TAN to Chassis Ground (lighter outlet edge), if no power there, look for fuse or trace back the tan to kick panel. If you have power to chassis ground but not at connector, then check continuity from larger solid black wire in connector to chassis ground.
The splices in the flex boot are a common problem in 90's Jeep Cherokees causing problems from mirrors to speakers. Running a new wire is easier than trying to find/fix the splice.
