If your car works fine when its not cold and only wont start when its cold outside then its a bad solenoid and most likely the one that regulates voltage to your starter. This solenoid can not be replaced with out replacing the starter because they are combined. Unless you have a aftermarket starter that will let replace the solenoid without replacing the starter. So all you have to do is take it to a shop and have a new starter put in and your prob should be fixed.

Pull the lever of your parking brake up a few clicks. Look inside, under the lever and you will see a length of threaded metal cable with a nut attatched. Use a deep 10mm socket and tighten cable to desired taughtness.

The E-brake on that car (as on most cars) is simply a mechanical brake that relies on the rear drum brakes without the hydraulic assistance of power brakes. When you pull up on the handle, a cable activates the rear brakes only. If your car rolls with the E-brake on, even if it still brakes fine on the road, odds are your rear brake shoes need to be replaced. To replace them, lift the car and remove the rear wheel rims. Tap the rotors around the edge with a mallet to knock them loose (they will be rusted on and may take a little bit of work), but be careful not to crack the drums with your mallet. Once the drums are off, you will see the brake shoes, connected with several springs to maintain proper positioning, and there will be a small slack adjuster at the bottom between each set of shoes. It is a long cylinder shape with a slot in each end and a fine-toothed sprocket around the middle of it. This is not to be adjusted by hand, it is self-adjusting every time you apply the brakes. Remember the position and sequence of each of the springs as you take them off to replace the shoes. It may help to take digital photos, or to lay out the pieces in the same orientation on the floor next the car. Once you have replaced the shoes, slip the drums back on. They may slip a little as you replace the rims, but they will tighten as you tighten the lug nuts - be sure to torque the lug nuts in proper sequence - like drawing a 5-point star on paper. Then apply the foot brakes several times to activate the auto slack adjusters, and then the hand brake should work fine. Your car will no longer roll and you will have better stopping power.

I've had this same problem and if it makes a rattling sound it sounds like its the catillitic converter.

Before beginning to install the new pump, first disconnect the negative battery cable and drain the radiator coolant by loosening the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator. Before removing the water pump, the timing belt must first be taken out. Remove the water pump and clean the area around the mounts with degreaser. Replace gaskets, spreading silicone directly to the water pump to secure. Install the new water pump and replace the bolts; replace the timing belt. Refill the radiator with a 50/50 mix of coolant, replace the drain plug, and reattach the battery cable.

Is the fuel guage the only guage that isn't working? If all others are OK, then forget a fuse or anything simple. Most likely, the sending unit in the fuel tank has stopped working. Kia claims that you can change the sending unit without changing the fuel pump too but a sending unit alone may be prove hard to find. Changing the unit is no picnic either, even if your model has the access cover in the trunk to get to the fuel pump without removing the gas tank, working with exposure to fuel in the tight space within the truck isn't for the faint hearted. If you have never changed an in-tank electric fuel pump and don't have very good mechanical skills and experience, you might be wise to have it done. This won't be cheap just to get the gauge running again because the parts tend to be pricy and there is apt to be a couple of hours of labor involved. One final suggestion, whether you are going to try fixing this or having it done, try to be sure that there is less than a half tank of gas when you do. Removing the seals and extracting the fuel pump and sending unit assemble will be safer and easier if the tank isn't brimming full.

I can't really say for sure about a '98, but I have a 99, and you just loosen the bolts on the alternator, move it forward, and switch old and new belts. Push the alternator back (with a rod) and retighten the bolts.
