Where is the transmission shift solenoid located on a 1996 Lincoln continental?

i have changed the solenoid on a 96 Taurus. To get to the sensor remove the passager Sid tire and the inner wheel well. There will be a motor mount on th eback of the engine. support the engine and remove the motor mount. once the mount is out of the way the sensor will be visable. it could be wraped with a insulation to prevent the sensor from burning up. there should be one bolt holding it in. i believe it is a 10 mm bolt. It is not a hard task to do once you find the sensor.

97 Lincoln mark 8 4.6 How do you replace head gaskets?

I suggest that you get a manual. There are many aspects of the job. Torque values. Replace parts vs reuse parts, valve timing etc. On the other hand you move everything out of the way. This includes removing intake and exhaust manifolds. You need to observe everything carefully. To remove exhaust manifold you must first disconnect exhaust pipe. Since engine is an overhead cam you must disconnect timing chain from the head. Remove valve covers, unbolt head bolts in the correct order so head doesn't warp. Completely remove old head gasket and prepare surfaces for new gasket. Put everything back the right way and your done.

What is the average cost of repairing automatic transmission for 1998 Voyager van?

What kind of repair are we talking? However, The cost of replacing a part is a very general question that unless specified exactly is hard to answer. First, is who is replacing the part? Is the Dealer, an independent repair shop, a junkyard, the guy next door or you doing the replacement. These will all yield different prices. Not to mention that within all of these will be different labor rates and different part price mark ups. Second, what is the quality of the part? Is it a name brand, generic (white box, economy), OEM or used part? All of these will be different. Price will even differ between name brands, sometimes significantly. Thirdly, What is the warranty of the part and who is offering the warranty (the shop the parts house or the manufacturer). Limited Lifetime will have restrictions. Lifetime warranty isnt always the best part either. Fourthly, Each vehicle can have different options that will affect how long it takes to change a part or make it call for a different part. Such as heavy duty cooling system, air conditioning, 4x4s may have a steel plate that may need removal

In other words, I don't know the answer.

to rebuilt a transmission on a voyager, it costs about $1200, but you can get a rebuilt one for only $850. plus, consider the labor....

Is there a police interceptor engine for Lincoln continental?

No. There is no "police interceptor" engine. The 4.6 SOHC engine in the P71 Crown Victorias are the exact same as the civilian models. The 1996 and newer Lincoln Continentals use the 4.6 DOHC engines, which are superior to the SOHC in almost every way. Higher redline, more compression, more horsepower and torque are the most obvious benefits. You could probably put an SOHC engine into a Continental, but you would have to change your computer as well. The only benefits would be the ability to run regular unleaded gas, and to gain a small amount of extra life for the miserable AX4N transmission in the car.

How do you remove front passenger door panel on a 1994 Lincoln continental?

Well, isn't that a happy little question! To remove the front passenger door panel on a 1994 Lincoln Continental, you'll want to start by gently prying off any trim pieces or screws covering the panel. Where can you find a belt diagram for a Lincoln LS?

AnswerGet a chiltons manual for your car (found at any auto parts store & some gas stations), look in the belts and hoses section or the index, there will be a diagram that will show you how to properly install the belt.

Chilton manuals are not the right manual to get!! Your better off with a workshop manual instead. cost about double the price as a Chilton but it will give you the correct information about the car. BEWARE:CHILTON MANUALS SUCK!! wrong information is given in their book which will cause allot of stress!!

Update: There should be a diagram on a sticker underneath the hood.

Unfortunately neither Chilton's nor Has makes a manual for a Lincoln LS. No company makes a book for it. The one that the auto parts stores tell you their computer calls for is for a Town Car which is no relation to the LS.

The LS has a Jaguar Engine and Transmission (3.9L V8 Jaguar), maybe you can find something related to the LS from a Jaguar book, but it won't be completely specific.

Rockauto.com has a diagram if you click on the Gates belt "info" button. There is a tool available to assist in rotating auto belt tensioner and costs about 20 bucks. May be worth the investment unless you like bloody knuckles. Gonna change mine soon and will update if I have more to add.
