i have changed the solenoid on a 96 Taurus. To get to the sensor remove the passager Sid tire and the inner wheel well. There will be a motor mount on th eback of the engine. support the engine and remove the motor mount. once the mount is out of the way the sensor will be visable. it could be wraped with a insulation to prevent the sensor from burning up. there should be one bolt holding it in. i believe it is a 10 mm bolt. It is not a hard task to do once you find the sensor.

Disconnect positive battery cable, remove all the bolts and screws from the door panel, disconnect the electrical plugs and carefully remove the panel. Remove the two nuts that hold the handle on, remove the linkage and reverse procedure to install.

the oil filter is located on the front of the engine block and there is an access hole in the bottom plastic shield to reach the filter

It is located under the dash on the drivers side behind the hood latch. It is WAY under there. Best way to access is get on your knees outside driver side door, and position where you can reach far under dash. Also, be sure to have a fuse picker (small plastic "gripper") or a pair of small plyers or needle nose plyers, etc.

If the 8th " character " of the VIN is an " F " the firing order is

( 1 - 5 - 4 - 2 - 6 - 3 - 7 - 8 )

If it's an " M " which means you have the High Output engine it's

( 1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8 )

On a 2001 Lincoln Continental :

The fuse panel is below and to the left of the steering wheel , by the brake pedal ( it has a cover on it )

Also , the Power Distribution Box ( which is " live " ) is located in the engine

I suggest that you get a manual. There are many aspects of the job. Torque values. Replace parts vs reuse parts, valve timing etc. On the other hand you move everything out of the way. This includes removing intake and exhaust manifolds. You need to observe everything carefully. To remove exhaust manifold you must first disconnect exhaust pipe. Since engine is an overhead cam you must disconnect timing chain from the head. Remove valve covers, unbolt head bolts in the correct order so head doesn't warp. Completely remove old head gasket and prepare surfaces for new gasket. Put everything back the right way and your done.

If it's like the 94 there is a diagram on cover plate for over the fan. The tensioner is in the back and should be loosened to remove the belt.

to rebuilt a transmission on a voyager, it costs about $1200, but you can get a rebuilt one for only $850. plus, consider the labor....

No. There is no "police interceptor" engine. The 4.6 SOHC engine in the P71 Crown Victorias are the exact same as the civilian models. The 1996 and newer Lincoln Continentals use the 4.6 DOHC engines, which are superior to the SOHC in almost every way. Higher redline, more compression, more horsepower and torque are the most obvious benefits. You could probably put an SOHC engine into a Continental, but you would have to change your computer as well. The only benefits would be the ability to run regular unleaded gas, and to gain a small amount of extra life for the miserable AX4N transmission in the car.

Code P1744 means that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) unsucessfully trying to engage the torque converter clutch 5 consecutive times. The torque converter may not engage if one or more of the following conditions exsist:

*Stuck converter regulator valve

*Stuck solenoid regulator valve

*Stuck bypass clutch control valve

*Worn pump shatft or damaged seals

*Incorrect Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid

*Incorrect or damaged wiring harness

*Incorrect gear ratio
