Mazda Protege

Many of the newer head bolts are tightened all bolts to a specific torque spec then tighten all bolts another 90 degrees or whatever the manufacturer recommends and possibly even another step. The idea is to tighten in stages so that you do not warp the head.

The 2000 Mazda Protege wiper blade sizes are 21" drivers and 19" passenger side wiper blades. See Sources and Related Links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only. Be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.

Remove the negative battery cable, remove rad filler cap and find the lower rad hose. Get a container as when you remove the hose from the engine side, you will lose 3-4 litres of coolant. You may want to remove the air intake box that runs on top of the rad (2 10mm bolts) first. Once hose is off the thermostat is behind the cover the hose was connected to..remove the 2 12mm bolts and replace unit with a new seal. Reverse process, add new coolant and follow procedures to ensure no air lock in coolant system occurs.

I am not a ASE certified tech but I would have to say that it's probably a sensor maybe the MAF or MAP sensor could even be bad fuel injectors.....Is there an Engine light on? Scanning the ECM with a OBD II scanner is the easyest way to find out a problem..but that only works if the check engine light is on

My Mazda Protege LX did the same thing, especially when it was hot out. I eventually found out it was a loose wire behind my overdrive switch located in the shift column. The overdrive button pops right out with a tight grasp and a little tug. See if both wires are still connected to the switch.

The thermostat on this particular car is located behind the air cleaner assembly. If you need to work with this piece make sure you have proper protective gear.?æ

According the manual book ,mazda proteges 2000 has timing belt and should be replace at 105 K miles .Hope would help .

It is located at the engine at the upper rad hose, When you replace it, make sure the spring goes toward the engine.

the part of the transmission where the fluid goes is on the drivers side part of the transmission. its right above the transmission temperature sensor and its the biggest bolt head right above the transmission temp sensor

no need to loosen the lines. only simple tools needed. move stuff out of the way, and bang it out. watch what your doing and try to understand it. its very simple, look at it one part at a time On a 2.0 litre engine the alternator belt is blocked by the front belt that drives the power steering pump. You need to remove the power steering pump belt to get to the alternator belt. For both belts there is a tension bolt mounted on the power steering pump and the alternator, respectively. Loosne that bolt to relieve the tension on the belts and then remove them. Replace the belts and tighten the bolts to the proper tension. There is not much room to reach the alternator tension bolt so you may have to unmount a few hard powersteering lines to reach it.

Not 100% sure but I think its the relay on top of the fuse box right over the pedals on the RHD models - for Mazda 323 diesel.

The disconnect on the passenger side vanity mirror caused the dome lights - radio - auto locks to be come inoperable - has anyone had the experience and what is the cure?

Try a simple tune-up. Plugs, wires, air filter. That is a good and inexpensive place to start.

Trouble code P0400 means:Exhaust gas recirculation-flow malfunction

The 2000 Mazda 1.8 liter engine valve cover torque specification is 45 pounds. The valve cover bolts should be torqued in 15 pound intervals.

AFAIK that means a malfunction in the Electronic Brake Distribution System. It may be a temporary glitch, take the car to a dealer and ask them to scan the error codes to diagnose the problem.

The kind of antifreeze that is recommended for the 2004 Mazda Protege is the Genuine Mazda Long-life Coolant. You can also purchase Peak or Zerex coolants which are also considered compatible.

first locate the wire in the trunk (black and red).

remove the two screws from each side of the spoiler under the trunk lid where it contact. on the left side gently loosen up the wire so you will be able to get some slack th turk the spoiler upside down.

remove the four screws of the light.

cut the wire close to the light and join the new wire with tape, it need to be neet to follow the wire route of the old wire.

pull gently from the trunk to get the wire where it is suppose to go.

You can do wathever you want to get the connection done (weld it, clip it ,...)

If prefer the fast connection with the crimp tool and wrapped

with electrical tape
