The cam sensor is located on the left side of the engine (as your looking at it) on the valve cover. It is the only sensor that is located on that side on the upper part of the engine.

There might be bypass kits available on the internet for your car depending on which security system you have. The only other option would probably be to replace the security system itself.

an air leak in your intake will cause the engine to rattle. Protege's intake hoses are prone to cracking.

The belt you have to first remove is the power steering pump belt. Loosen the clamp bolt, then the adjusting screw on the power steering pump until the belt is slack enough to remove from the pulleys. If you have air conditioning, you will also need to remove that belt too, by the same method on the A/C compressor. You can now loosen the clamp bolt (12 mm) from the alternator as well as the retaining bolt (14 mm) on the alternator. Once loosen, swing the alternator towards the engine block and remove the belt from the pulleys. Cheers Malcolm

YEL/RED = DOOR RH +

WHT/RED = DOOR RH -

YEL = REAR LH -

ORG = REAR LH +

GRN/ORG = REAR RH -

GRN/BLK = REAR RH +

Now, my wife's Protege, which I think is a 2000 has the following wires, which I am

reverse engineering:

BLK = GROUND

BLU/RED = BATT

PINK/BLK = IGN ACC

GRN/BLK = PANEL LITE CTRL

YEL = DIMMING

BLK/RED = DOOR LH +

BLK/WHT = DOOR LH -

RED = DOOR RH +

WHT = DOOR RH -

BRN = REAR LH -

BRN/WHT = REAR LH +

GRN = REAR RH -

GRN/YEL = RER RH +

I am still trying to confirm speaker polarity.

All these wire colors should be verified with a volatege/ohm meter prior to

connecting the unit, otherwise you risk letting out the majik smoke upon

which all electronics rely upon.

Replace the horn relay.

Also look at the foam padding in the steering wheel,it may be worn out.

My 99 escort had a stuck horn...pull out the foam switch in front of the air bag, move it around a little, clean the contacts, then test it with a multimeter to make sure it un-stuck itself.
