Its an engine that fits many cars
such as Mitsubishi Eclipse, Dodge Neon, Dodge Stratus, Dodge Avenger, Chrysler Sebring and i'm sure there are more.
This question is kind of ridiculous there are so many combos of parts you could use to make any car fast. The first thing you wanna think about is if you really wanna spend the money to make an eclipse fast because for the same money you could probably go out and buy a faster car. The fastest route to power is always forced induction, whether it be nitrous oxide, turbocharging, or supercharging. With all of these come the probability that you WILL break something if you run too much nitrous or too much boost, therefore supporting mods must be done to the motor to safely reach new horsepower levels. Supporting mods usually include upgrades to the fuel, spark, and exhaust systems, (such as bigger fuel pump(s) coil packs for the ignition and much larger exhaust with less restrictive manifolds mufflers and cats.) Beefing up the motor and transmission with stronger internals will also be required for larger power gains such as carbon fiber synchros and stronger input/output shafts in the trans and forged pistons and connecting rods in the motor. The route to go nitrous, turbo or supercharged is entirely up to preferance (also remember you gotta put that power to the ground as well as stop it, so with power comes larger tires and brakes). Only you know what you want from your car. Not to be pessimistic but the motor in your car might be able to take some abuse but your transmission is built to handle the stock 190 some horsepower/torque of your motor so you will almost definatly break something if you do any kind of forced induction, also assuming your car has over 50k miles for it being a 2003 and being a drop top which makes it have more of a leisurely feel your best bet is to not drop a lot of money into it and start breaking things just throw on a new exhaust system, cold air intake, maybe even go as big as a larger fuel pump and injectors, as I said what you wanna do is entirely up to you. I hope this was somewhat useful and I'm sorry for the novel but this is such a vague question. If I didn't answer it I don't believe you would've got an answer or if you did it would probably be as vague as the question itself. To sum this up for you and give you a ballpark price range, I have a 2001 Mustang GT, lets say I wanted to supercharge it. 2.1l twin screw supercharger kit from Kenne Bell - $5,000, then I would have to build my transmission because it can't handle the added torque from the supercharger - $2000+ and also if I wanted to safely run more then the 9 psi the kenne bell system comes set to, I would have to get forged internals for my motor $2000+ so as you can see this is not very cheap. However after all these things being done to the car I would still only be running about 475 horsepower to the wheel at around 14 psi and be running maybe mid to low 12's in the quarter mile if I went and bought myself some drag radials and beefed up the rear end with new control arms, shocks, gears, axles, driveshaft/u-joint as well as the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate. If I didn't do these mods I would either burn out my clutch or snap my rear end if I launched hard. All this stuff, another $1500. Think before you mod, think long and hard.
Where is the evaporator drain tube on a 2001 Blazer?
Can't be seen from the top. It is located under the HVAC box on the passenger side.
How do you know if the clutch master cylinder goes bad on a 1999 Mitsubishi eclipse?
On mine, it started leaking fluid onto the carpet behind the pedals. It's are real fix to replace the entire clutch master cylinder. There are also rebuild kits that can save you some $$.
FM Stereo does not work in 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage AM and CD work?
I had the same problem in my 97 LS Coupe. I changed out the antenna and that didn't resolve the problem. I replaced the stereo with an after market stereo and the problem was resolved.
Where is turn signal flasher on Mitsubishi Eclipse?
i have a 98 eclipse with turn signal issues, my flasher unit is in the middle of the dash behind where the stereo is, u need to take the stero out and then u can access the flasher, its a big black box about half the size of a cig pack
Where is the blower motor resistor in a 2002 Mitsubishi eclipse?
The resistor is located on a duct behind the glove compartment and the glove compartment back.
What kind of oil does a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT take?
Good quality 5W30 engine oil displaying ILSAC certification mark ("Starburst" symbol) conforming the API classification SJ EC or SJ/CD EC. I like synthetics such as Mobil1.
What does the manifold pressure sensor do?
The Manifold Pressure Sensor (also known as the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor or the Manifold Differential Sensor) is a device that is used to calibrate the fuel delivery on most modern ECU Controlled (computerized) engines.
Used predominantly after the institution of the OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics), it is used to calculate the difference between manifold pressure (measured in inches of mercury) and ambient or atmospheric pressure. The computer uses this sensor to determine, based on the differential between the two, the conditions present requiring the fuel delivery to be adjusted.
At higher altitudes, the ambient pressure is lower, reducing the value when comparing the two readings. At lower altitudes, the atmospheric pressure is higher, generating a larger number. The larger the number, the less fuel is delivered, as decreased atmospheric pressure indicates (under normal conditions) a decrease in the density of the air and thereby a decrease in available oxygen, the second component required for efficient combustion.
Additionally, when the throttle plate is opened, the value generated by the Manifold Pressure Sensor (usually called the MAP) is reduced as the pressures equalize. This tells the computer that the operator is attempting to accelerate, adjusting timing, injector pulse width and other sub-systems to assure proper and efficient response.
How many miles per gallon does your 2003 Mitsubishi eclipse gts get?
The 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS gets 19 miles per gallon in the city. On the highway this model car gets 25 miles per gallon.
its called the sr20det gtir bluebird or sss atessa look it up relativley cheap
Most likely the piston is hitting the valve. This can cause a LOT of damage. i have a 95 turbo, and it jumped time causing the balance shaft to hit the crank. this sounded like a piston hitting a valve I would suspect a Rod Bearing. If the Piston interferes with the Valves it would barely run,, if at all. It's fixing to "sling a rod"....
Refer to your owner's manual on how to use the key ring remote to turn the horn alarm back on. If you already tried that and it still wont work, pop your hood. look down to your right, by the driver's side headlight. there is a black plastic piece that kind of looks like a snail's shell, round with a rectangular hole coming out of it. is there a wire connected to it? there should be one attached by a clip. if there isnt, see if the wire will stretch to the metal tab sticking out of that plastic piece. if it makes it by at least a half an inch, strip the wire of the rubber and bend the raw wire into the hole in the tab, and wrap electrical tape around the entire tab and make sure yo do it VERY TIGHTLY. it absolutely has to be water tight.
Where is the crank position sensor in a eclipse 94-95?
How do you reset security on eclipse 5443 car stereo?
Ok forgive me since this has been awhile and this unit is about ten years old or older. I used to install these and there is a "security CD" which can be any CD that is entered into its memory. Once the unit loses a contast 12 volts you have to have this CD to unlock it. Other than calling Eclipse and faxing in a reciept of purchase and the serial number that is the only way to unlock. They used to walk me over the phone all the time because people work forget what CD they used to set the security feature. Best bet call Eclipse.
How can you make your 420A faster can you put a chip in it?
The options for computer modifications for the 420A are extremely limited. Venom made a device which simply altered the TPS signal to appear as if the accelerator was pressed further down - a costly upgrade when the driver could simply give more throttle. Jet performance's chip was met with mixed reviews.
The popular route for modifying normally aspirated engines is to install an intake, header and exhaust (IHE ake "The Big Three"), but the horsepower/dollar ratio is not stellar. Those three mods will cost over $1k for a 15-25hp increase, whereas ~$2500 will get nearly 100hp (from stock 140hp to 200-225hp) from the non-intercooled kit. This kit will benefit from 3" exhaust piping.
Another popular mod is an undersized crank pulley (turns accessories slower), but the claimed 10-15hp gain isn't entirely noticeable.
The mods mentioned above only affect straight line speed. Any vehicle will benefit greatly from new rubber, lighter wheels, suspension components - although the best mod is to tune the nut behind the wheel (ie, driver training).
How do you remove a brake line from the caliper on a Mitsubishi Eclipse?
you smash the car, and eat it
Can you swap a turbo engine for a non turbo engine in a 92 eclipse?
Yes you can you will need to get the non-turbo engine, non-t ECU and wire harness. The wire harness and ecu are diffrent between the t and the non t.
What does the dashboard light with exclamation point inside a semi-circle mean on an eclipse?
It's the TPMS warning light. "Tire pressure monitoring system"
How do you install a 97 eclipse front bumper on a 95 eclipse?
The body style was tweaked in 97. Therefore, the front bumper is not just going to swap out. The headlights are more slanted, so it is not going to fit around them the same.
How do you replace the head gasket on a 1997 ford Taurus?
The cheapest way is to do the job yourself. These cars were known to have gasket failures. A lot of times the gasket would allow coolant to leak into the oil. If your dipstick looks like a milkshake, chances are you have done some damage to bearings in the engine. You might not hear anything until a few months later.
As far as stopleak or dropping an egg into rad, I cant see any cheap way to do this job. The problem is you are trying to seal combustion chamber pressures from the cooling system, and visa versa. ........
I had good results from 2 small containers of alumaseal from discount auto supply.
I had this problem. I tried bars leak 3 times, didn't work. Did the head job, and then the oil pump died. We were told the bars leak probably did it. Also Bars leak killed the thermostat, had to replace it (but since the headgasket blew, change it anyway). It can also damage the heater coil.
No cheap way. The head set gasket set is 55 out the door, and the Haynes repair manual is 15. If you want JUST the head gasket (not a good idea) they're 17.00.
The one other thing is the bolts are Torque to Yield, you need to spend the 30 bucks extra for new head bolts. Also, you need RTV gasket maker too.
Replacing the head gasket on any vehicle is a long and complicated process, however if you wish to see basic step-by-step instructions go to the related question on the right side of the page "How do you replace a head gasket?"
What is the difference in a Mitsubishi eclipse rs and a gs?
RS is the base model with manual windows, manual locks, no sunroof (mostly), no foglights, no spoiler, no rear wiper, no cruise control, etc. Gs is the non-turbo upper model with power everything, spoiler, sunroof, etc. GST is same as GS with turbo and GSX is same as GS with turbo and all wheel drive.
