Not absolutely sure but I have two Roma soup bowls on top of Patrician saucers (don't ask why) and they were given to my Nana as wedding presents I believe. Nana would have been married during the 2nd world war, around 1944.

On the 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera S ,V6, 3.3 some of the AC Compressors had O Rings & others used flat washers. That Year they used some with O rings & some with flat washers. I called the Chevrolet Dealer where I bought mine & that is what they told Me. The Auto Parts place said the same thing. You have to look at Your old Compressor to tell. Mine has the Compressor with flat washers!!

You will have to change the coolant temperature sender that's directly by the firewall.

There are two coolant temp senders - the other one, by the water pump, controls the electric fan.

You will also have to change the oil pressure sending unit.

I'd highly recommend getting brand-new sending units - they are relatively inexpensive and have a warranty.

I disagree with that answer. I just bypassed mine in my 96 Cutlass Supreem by bypassing the key lock. I found the ORANGE wire coming out of the steering column. DO NOT TOUCH THE YELLOW WIRE as it controls the airbag. Wouldn't want it blowing up in your face now would you?

The key has a black rectangle in it with a little piece of metal going through the key. Get someone to measure the resistance from one side of the key to the other. Mine registered 681 ohms. I went to radio shack and bought resistors that total 680 ohms. Using Radio shack connectors, I connected them in series (in a long line). I then cut the orange cable. It really is a sheath that has two white wires inside. I connected the two white wires from the engine side to the two ends of my resistor string I made. The car starts everytime now. There is a listing on the web of the 15 different keys. They each have a different resistance. That's why you have to measure yours with a very accurate meter. The sresistors cost 99 cents for five each.

Take it down to AutoZone or other parts store. Have them pull the codes...they'll do it for free. This will give you a place to start. They can tell you what the codes mean.

Down the back of the engine, roughly in line with the timing belt cover. If you look where the engine joins the gearbox you will see a metal pipe on top with a bleed screw on it, follow that around the back of the engine and it will eventualy join the thermostat housing with 3 little bolts.

These engines have a problem with the lower intake manifold gasket material giving way causing the coolant to mix with the engine oil. You have no heat in the car because no water is running through the heater core- most likely. I've had two and they both had this problem.

Muddy engine oil is an indicator of an internal leak.

Stuck / blocked thermostat can cause overheating.

Air in cooling system could also cause problems. 96 has 2 coolant vents to bead the cooling system.

the alternator is located on the upper left hand side of the engine. just follow the belt and you will find it located at the top.that is where mine is.

I have been servicing all makes of sunroofs for over 30 years. The Cougar sunroof can be closed manually in several ways. The first thing I usually do is remove the top panel so you can see all that you are doing. You can replace the hold down screws and put the panel back in later after the sunroof is shut. The second step is to remove the motor assembly...it is located under the front dome ligh. Just pop out the lens and a couple of screws and you will ses the motor. you may have top take out the sunvisor inside clips on the headliner for a larger work area. Remove the inner trim ring of the headliner around the sunroof opening. REmove the 2 or 3 screws holding int he motor. You may now move the track assemblies manually. There are hold down tabs on the back of the tracks to hold the rear of the glass down in the closed position. once you have the sunrro closed reinstall the motor...this will keep the sunroof panel in the closed position. You will want to remove the sunroof fuse or disconnect the switch so you can not operate the unit again.

------- no way Mr.MadSpinner, with your "30 years experience" you don't have a clue about cougar sunroofs. I guarantee you have not worked on a cougar before or you would have remembered it. First of all, cougars do not have a glass sunroof, it is a metal panel sunroof or moonroof. Second, the cougars break their sunroofs at the RH track usually because ford made them out of plastic -- the 2001 & 2002 cougar sunroof rails are made of metal because of this flaw. One side will break and then the motor and the cable will then only pull on the other side .

--- So, even if you remove the motor, the sunroof will still not close because the track and pins are broken on one side. The correct answer should be to remove the rubber trim ring inside the car and then using a t-25 torx screwdriver, remove the 4 screws that hold the roof panel onto the frame/track. From the center of the sunroof, they are at the 4 corners of the roof panel facing outward and you may have to push up on the headliner cloth to be able to see them. After removing the sunroof panel, then you will be able to easily see the broken pins and slider --- use the motor to close the sunroof while unlocking and pushing the broken side down the track. Once the shuttle is pushed down the track (or you can remove it also), then you can install the panel and carefully put the 4 torx screws back in place. You can unplug the motor or remove the fuse, so no one can try to open it again.

-- Start looking for another sunroof at junk yards, but only get one out of a 2001 or 2002 cougar with the metal rails and gears. Most junk yards sell them for under $100 and the last one i found in 2014 was only $50. You can install the entire sunroof in your car in about 1 hour. The most difficult part is lowering the headliner and sliding it back out the rear hatchback --- you will use your current car's color sunroof panel and bolt it to the junkyard sunroof frame/motor with those same 4 torx bolts. It may take you 2 hours if you have never removed the visors, coat hooks, map lights, and headliner before. Don't forget to re-connect the rubber rain drain tubes.

It can be many things, but first comes in mind:

1. fuel filter ... if not replaced jet it's cheap to buy and easy to replace

2. cooped up throttle body ... pull it apart and wash everything that you find in there

It worked on my 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with 275000 miles on it.

First,turn ignition key to start.Set Park brakes.With foot on brakes shift to "D" or 3 or 2.Remove "U" clip from shift knob (pocket knife works best).Pull knob off stick.Open console lid and remove the 2 small screws at the bottom of the console.Disconnect light and cigarette lighter wires.Lift off console.Reverse order to re-install.

Note: U-clip comes out towards dash.

the 3.1 motor is a typical pushrod style motor, much smaller and more compact than the larger 3.4L which is a Twin Dual Overhead Cam using four overhead camshafts and 24 valves. They are two completely different style egines with the 3.4L X code being relatively short production while the 3.1L was a longer production run more commonly used GM engine in various GM vehicles.

Try using a coat hanger with the ends cut off and bend it into shape to get under the hood and pull the cable release.

pull steering wheel. remove locking plate, you can rent tool from auto supply house to compress plate, there is a spring type ring on shaft, (note there is an aligment slot on locking plate when you put it back on). spring can be removed with screw drivers. remove screw holding turn signal indicator, there are three screws holding turn signal mechanisam, remove emergency flasher switch. you may have to remove buzzer actuator, be careful not to loose black spring that holds it in. there should be a screw that holds switch in.

Trouble code P1870 means: Transmission Component Slipping (4L60-E, 4L65-E, 4L80-E)

The dome light override switch next to the light might be bad. In one position (pushed in, I believe), it provides a constant 12V to the light. In the other position, it provides 12V to the light only when the doors are open. If the switch is bad, it might not be letting electricity through it at all.
