First off, what size engine is in this vehicle? Usually they have 3.3L and the knock sensor is located at the rear of the block on the right hand side. It is round with a signal wire going to it. This would be looking up from the bottom of the car (on the hoist). macthemechanicca2001@yahoo.ca

I just replaced the blower motor on my '92 olds cutlass As it was making a lot of grinding noise. I think it was shorting out myself;as I discovered when I was attempting to do it myself , one of the 2 wires connecting was burnt at end and the plastic connector was broke. First I disconnected both wires and turned fan on. No more noise so I bought a new motor & had it installed. Air is not as cool as I'd like I 'm surre it need freon, but my car uses the R-12 I found out you can use a new one out called freeze-12 Hope this info helps you.

Try checking the TPS (throttle position sensor) usually they raise the Rpm on Idle like that or on Drive .That be the first thing I do . Then check your Tachometer it may have a short bad connection etc. Also clean or replace the IAC (Idle air control Valve) as needed . Hope this gives you an Idea on where to start.

The 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra thermostat is located on the front of the engine. You can follow the water supply line from the radiator to the thermostat housing.

check youralternator plugs, and then if that does not work try checking vacuum lines or MAF. Timing belt is possibly slipping but that would cause more damage and once out of line would not let you start it up again

It's on the passenger side at the bottom. Just follow the serpentine belt to the bottom-- if you know what you're looking for you'll see it, but Good Luck replacing it!

It is under the hood at the right rear of the engine compartment at the antenae.

I'm assuming you have the correct thermostat, but you should always double check. Some other things that may or may not be causing the problem could be: Your radiatior is clogged and the antifreeze isn't circulating properly. You may not have enough antifreeze in your radiator. You may not be getting enough airflow through your grille to the radiator. Your electric cooling fans may not be working properly. Your radiator cap isn't maintaining proper pressure. Find the alternator, under the hood on the passenger side. Now look toward the firewall, and about a foot down from the alternator, you'll see two 2 inch pipes going into the firewall, one has a blue dust-cap on it, it's kinda difficult to reach, but if you have skinny arms you'll be able to just reach it and twist off the cap... the cap will have a 1/8'' hole in the top and a large letter L next to the hole. It's on the firewall up high on the passenger side. You may need to remove the alternator to get it out.

Remove the three T-15 Torx screws holding the corner marker light housing in. This will expose two 10mm hex head caps screws. Remove these and the two others on the inboard side of the housing by putting a socket on a long extension through the second slot in the grille. The housing is then unbolted, but a ridge on the inboard side is trapped behind the grille. I loosen the grille and wiggle the housing from the outside edge toward the outside of the vehicle. Then remove the blue wire clip and the terminal. The angled housing will then come out by turning it clockwise in to release the bayonet connection.
