Should you restore a 1968 convertible LeMans as a GTO?
The '68 GTO will never be a year model in high demand. (I own one) As compared to a '67 or '69 at least. If you are doing a full restoration, I feel you would retain more value keeping it a Le Mans than cloning. Keep a Pontiac block, stroke your original or bump a 400 to 468 if power is your thing, just no chebbies... Understand this is one man's opinion... if resale is not a concern and you want to make it suite you then the sky is the limit, enjoy!
To some degree, I agree with this answer. The '68 was not the most popular. However, the GTO, and even the clones, are worth more than the LeMans. If you are just looking for value in the end, go with the GTO conversion. Take a look around and you'll see that even the clones are going for ridiculous amounts. Personally, I like this body style with the hide away headlight option. I've never been one to worry about what would be worth more. Not unless I had something EXTREMELY rare. I've always built cars to my taste and with the intent of driving and enjoying them. So in the end it depends on what you are wanting to do with the car. Drive and enjoy.....or sell it for the highest dollar. Either way the GTO clone will bring more but keep in mind it will cost more to find the parts and convert it.

Attach the motors mounts to the frame mounts put in the engine check and make sure it is level attach it to the trans then weld away yoy will love the 455 its a beast.
Is there a fusible link in a 1968 Pontiac LeMans If so...where?
There should be a fusible link on the car. There will be two small wires that mount to the starter solenoid. The last few inches of these should be fusible link. A lot of times these are missing. When they do their job and "melt" a lot of guys just replace them with regular wire. Most any auto parts store carry fusible link. You can buy it in pre-cut pieces or in a roll just like any other wire. Hope that helps.
Why do 1967 Pontiac lemans lean?
You may be referring to something called "torque roll." If a RWD car (or truck) uses a live axle in the rear, then all the torque coming out the back of the transmission creates an equal (and opposite in direction) torque against the frame, specifically applied at the motor mounts. Things can be done with the suspension to disguise it, but the only way to completely eliminate torque roll would be to physically separate the rear differential housing from the suspension.
check for broken or slipped timing belt...also fuel filter and fuel pump
Also check the orange wire connected to the positive battery terminal. If it doesn't have a good connection the engine will turn over but will not start. Had the same problem with my '90 lemans.
