The speedometer started bouncing and the transmission wont up shift on 1998 civic lx?

Its hard to say without you posting the year, make, model, engine, etc. But just guessing yes it could. on a lot of newer vehicles, the transmission needs to know how fast the car is going. This is one of 2 things the transmission needs know before it can function properly. The other is engine load.

What would cause a gear shifter to be stuck in park and the car won't start?

If it is a manual then maybe the synchro gears in the gearbox are buggered or possibly the gearbox oil is too low, if it is an auto, maybe the torque converter is stuffed, really need to know wether it is manual or auto (or some fancy kinda new gearbox)

What does a bad modulator valve do?

If the transmission modulator valve is vacuum operated and it goes bad it can allow the engine to suck transmission fluid thru the engine causing the engine to blow blue smoke out the exhaust.

What are disadvantages of using microwave radio for data transmission?

Microwave radio require free line of sight between point A and B. Any obstruction in the first Fresnel zone (imaginary ellipsoid zone between point A and B) will degrade the availability. Furthermore, rain attenuation is affect the transmission in frequency above 10GHz.

Does your 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee have a Dana 35 or 44 rear axle?

It is a Dana 35 if it is abs, if not it could be an 8.25. The 8.25 has a flat spot on the bottom of the gear body while the Dana 35 is rounded @ the bottom. The 8.25 also has a lip on the outside of the cover.

What would cause your 1998 Toyota corolla to lose power while accelerating and actually start to slow down?

It could be your catalytic converter... yes, catalytic converters clog on these often. its fairly easy to unbolt it from the exhaust manifold. if you take it off, shine a flashlight up from the bottom, you should be able to see light from the top.

Can you replace a 5-speed automatic with an 8-speed manual transmission?

Yes it can be done, but at what cost? Keep in mind it is much more than just swapping out the trans itself. You will have to change out the computer and wiring harness if your vehicle is 96+. You will also obviously need the pedal set, flywheel, clutch, slave cyliner, clutch master cylinder, hydralic lines, new driveshaft. I did it in a 96 1500 with a 4.3, and had to buy a truck for parts just to make it justifiable price wise.

What could be wrong if a 1997 Ford Ranger with manual transmission will start and shift into gear but won't move?

It sounds like it may be low on fluid, or maybe a dirty filter. Depending on how the vehicle is operated (Hot Roddded, Lead Foot, etc.) it could even be the clutches. The best way to find out is to pull the dipstick and check the fluid. This is while the engine is running, the vehicle is warmed up, and in park, on level ground. Pull the dipstick out, and wipe it off on white paper towels. Does it look brown? If so, this would be a danger sign letting you know that the transmission needs to be rebuilt, or replaced. If the fluid is red, almost a candy color red, then the transmission is probably ok, but the fluid is probably low. Put the stick back in, and pull it back out again. See where the fluid level is on the stick. There are two marks, and it should fall somewhere in between, if not, closer to the upper mark. If that is ok, then you need to find a trustworthy shop, or a friend that knows how to change transmission filters, because this would be your next step. If the fluid is low, have some put in to see if that fixes your problem. Then find the leak.

My 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd automatic transmission does not go into 1st gear It will shift from 2nd to drive 3 ok. But cannot start in 1st I have to manually put it in 1st to start then 2nd then drive?

I depends on the trasnmission it has. Some have shift selinoids they are probably bad. There are some shops that will check without charge, but either way you will either have to have it rebuilt ar purchase another one. Check the fluid level and change the filter and fluid that might help.

Where can you find a shift solenoid B Electrical for a 97 jeep Cherokee automatic transmission?

My jeep has the same problem (1998 xj) and a mechanic told me that you have to remove the tranmission pan to get to it, its up inside the transmission and if your goin to rep[lace it you might as well change your filter while your at it.

What do you do when your automatic transmission Civic will go forward but will not go in reverse?

If it were my car i would replace the transmission. A website www.car-part.com gives you a list of used parts all over the country. If you are a do-it-yourself-er it is the cheapest way to go.

or

check for cel [check engine light] or for dtcs [diagnostic trouble codes]

if none are present repair or over haul maybe required torque converter is bad.

Can you convert an automatic transmission to a manual in a 1994 Acura Integra and if you can what changes need to be made?

Yes, it is possible to convert a manual into an automatic. I converted my automatic integra into a manual. It runs smooth as silk. To tell you the truth and not to discurage you, it would be easier to sell your manual or even trade it for somebodys automatic. There are many Integra lovers that would love to get their hands on a manual. If this is not possible here it goes. It will be even more expensive to convert to an automatic than it is to convert to a manual. Why? There are more electoronic components involved versus the manual.(sensors, shift lock, ect.) These are the parts: 1: Automatic transmission with sensors 2: torque converter and plate 3: automatic mid shaft(manual's is different) 4: shift cable 5: automatic pedal set (brake and gas) 6: automatic shifter complete with interlock switch and harness 7: automatic cluster 8: automatic ecu 9: automatic flywheel cover 10: rear transmission bracket and the lower transmission bracket( the manual ones is different ( trust me I know) You will also need the top transmission mount and the top transmission frame bracket that you can purchase at Acura for about $50. You will have to cut the manual off the frame, grind the welds down and weld the auto bracket in place. 11: You will need a wheel saw to cut away at the center console where the manual shifter is. you need to make room for the manual shifter and the shift cable 12: The center shift console needs to be changed as well. The manual one is smaller. 13: You need the auto flywheel plate bolts, the manual one are longer. 14: you need the automatic starter as well. 15: you need the automatic radiator, the manual one does not have the tranny oil cooler in it. 16: The only other thing brother is the electrical. You need to run two wires to the shift lock, the reverse wires to the auto shifter, the cruise controll to the auto shifter and you should be set and ready to cruise. Now the only thing left is for who to do the install?

Is a telegraph transmission considered an electronic transmission according to HIPAA?

An electronic transmission is anything sent electronically like a fax, or e-mail. HIPPA deals with confidentiality of patient records, and HIPPA addresses electronic transmissions because they don't want their rules to only apply to paper copies of medical records, they want them to apply to all forms of medical records and medical communication.

What is the main advantage of digital transmission over analog transmission?

digital signal is less susceptible to signal degradation due to the nature of it's transmission signal which is either on or off and therefore less errors occur as analog is prone to signal degradation and loss that is why digital tv is crisp and clear and analog is somewhat blurry in comparison, also with higher bandwidth achievable by digital transmission more data is able to be transmitted.

What is a CVT transmission?

Continuously Variable Transmission

There are many designs for them. Honda uses 2 metal cones, one moves, and a steel link belt that rides up or down the cones to give different gear ratios. Toyota uses an electric CVT.
