Should timing belt be replacled in 60K maintenance of 2001 Mazda 626 car?
Yes-It should be replaced. You may also want to replace the water pump at the same time if there is any question of it leaking The steps to replace the belt will allow the pump to be replaced with a minimal labor charge-if any. If the belt breaks, you're looking at a new or rebuilt engine. Depending on where you live $3000-$6000.
Yes - find a third owner!! That's my problem now... I suggest all VW owners unite and complain to VW. Let's tell them Americans won't tolerate their non-recall of obvious and common problems.. e.g.. engine oil leaks on Passat that require tearing an engine apart just to cure it... sorry but other than I like driving it on the freeway most everything else sucks....

How do you replace the transmission fluid on a 2004 VW Passat?
Manual transmission is easy. There is a fill plug on the left axle flange and a drain plug on the bottom (special bit required).
The automatic must be filled while running so it really isn't a DIY.

How do you change the oil pump in a 1999 Dodge Dakota V6?
I need to replace one on my 99 Dakota to. Its 4wd and I am not going to even attemt it its going to the garage.
My suggestion would be to take the motor out, remove the oil pan, then change it. Before you change it though fill a cup up with poil and get some oil in the pumpm so you don't have a dry start. Then put the pan on, don't forget the gasket, and put the motor back in the truck
What damage will a broken timing belt do a 2003 passat?
this vehicle has a restricting block which means if the timing belt goes while car is in motion say goodbye! valves will be stabbed into the pistons, crank might crack in half and blow out the bottom of the oil pan..all in all its called preventative mainteneace for a reason..will save you the money!
Yes, if properly maintained.
I would add to that answer that the VW's have historically had occasional quirky electrical behaviors. Such as, if I drove my 98 Jetta into a large puddle, making a big splash, my engine would quit. The problem was finally fixed with a new coil. That same car was on its third fuel pump relay when retired.
I had a friend with a Beetle who would slilcon spray his ignition wires to prevent this same "cut-out" ignition problem above.
What does a check engine light on a 1999 VW Passat mean?

What is the cause of vibration at 2000 revs mostly in higher gears on a VW Passat two L turbo?
If any car vibrates at approx. 2000 rpm in higher gears I would suggest checking out the tyres. They may need balancing. If tyres are not balanced after wearing down they will twist and warp. Not so much that you could tell by looking, most good shops have a machine to fix this problem. Worst case scenario it could be the wire in the tyre wall that has broken to cause the imbalance. If this is the case then you're at risk from a blow out. Bottom line: don't drive around with a vibrating car!Tyres are cheaper than caskets.
There are many types of ballasts in the electrical industry. To get an answe, the type of ballast must be stated.
