Why a 2003 Volkswagen Passat wagon rear lights turn on?
You probably have the problem with the faulty brake pedal switch - this was a recall item. Your cruise control may not work either. There is a switch that when you press the brake it triggers the rear lights and also tells the cruise control to turn off temporarily. This became faulty on mine over a period of months where the cruise would sometimes work, others not. then the rear brakes kept staying on. Should be fixed for free as it was a recall. **This happened to me today, with the dealership closed for the weekend I was worried the battery would die before I could get it fixed. I tried pulling back on the brake pedal as much as I could with my hand and it turned the lights off.**
How can you enter your locked 1998 Aurora when the key nor the remote will work?
I hope that answer - "use a rock or brick" - was supposed to be a joke. You're telling someone to break a window that will cost almost $1000 (parts & labor) to replace, just to avoid paying a locksmith $75 to open the vehicle? Lubricate the lock liberally, for starters. When people use the remote exclusively for unlocking the car, the grease in the unused locks hardens up from lack of use and the lock wafers won't work properly otherwise. Work the key in and out several times to loosen up the grease and then try to turn the key. If the remote stopped working, replace the battery. The two halves of the remote will pry apart like a clamshell and reveal a disc battery (probably a 2032) that costs about $3. Radio Shack will replace it for you for a small sum. If you lost the key altogether, a locksmith can make a new first key for about $250. It's more expensive because the key has a chip in it that the vehicle's onboard security system must see to allow it to start. Don't whine about the price, either - it wasn't the locksmith who lost the key! A dealer can make a new first key, too, of course; expect to pay about $400.
Where is the reverse gear light switch located?

For low light conditions what is the best f-stop to use?
The best F-stop for any lighting condition is always the one which gives you the desired depth of field and shutter speed. Low light just forces you to make some decisions or trade-offs. Is the subject moving? Do I have the cooperation of the subject? Did I bring a tripod? If I use a tripod and slow shutter speed, can I tolerate movement of objects in the photo? Am I willing to accept some grain which will result from using a higher ISO, then remove the noise later? Did I bring a faster lens?
No easy answers here as you can see. When in doubt, take several shots using different F-stop / shutter speed combinations. You may need extra film or memory. Also, study shots taken by others in advance - particularly shots which capture the look you are trying to achieve. Watch for any F-stop details which they may reveal, but don't ignore the lens, ISO and so on. They all play a role.

What octane do you use for a 1984?
for any Volkswagen gas engine do not use anything lower than a 91 octane rating.
I have an '02 2.8L V6 and it is difficult. I just had it done not more than 2 weeks ago. You can order the part at an auto parts store, mine was a bit over $200. Then I called places around town that could work on foreign cars and I had it fixed over night.
It was difficult on my car because the V6 engines have the alternator on the right side under the engine, BUT if you have the 4 cylinder engine it at the very top and easy to access and should not take as long as it did for me.
Also I have been checking eBay for a starter on my car and noticed that alternators are a lot cheaper 2nd hand.
AnswerI am now in the market for this repair. My non-VW dealer has quoted me $700 for the part and about 8 hours for labor, so my guess would be yes, much more involved than a US-made car. Never will I buy a VW again! AnswerI don't believe so. You can try the link at the right for detailed DIY instructions. It helped me. This question has also been asked before and you may find help in the FAQ list. Why will a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am not start after running out of gas?
If this engine is fuel injected, there is a strong possibility that the fuel injectors have become plugged by the fine sediment that accumulates in the bottom of a gas tank. Running a fuel injected motor out of gas can be a very expensive mistake, as the injectors have to be removed by a mechanic and cleaned if they have become fouled. A reputable garage will charge 250 to 300 dollars to perform this procedure.

Answerturn your steering wheel hard to either side. this should free up the key to be able to turn it.
when you park your car make sure the clutch is disangage .then you can remove the key same problem is with my Volvo s40
I just fixed the same problem on my 96 park ave. You probably have a broken air mix actuator. There are 2 on the car but the one on the passenger side seems to fail most often. Open the glove box all the way down. You need to fold in the rubber stoppers attached to the back side of the glove box to release it all the way down. Once you do that you will see a silver metal arm that connects the actuator to the vent door on that side of the car. If you can move it back and forth, you have a broken gear inside the actuator. Local parts stores by me don't carry it so I bought mine through GM Parts Direct for $50 plus shipping.
