How were children schooled in 1600s?

It depends on where you lived and what your social class or your gender were. In Massachusetts, what was the first public school in the state was also the first in the country-- the Boston Latin School was founded in April of 1635, to provide a humanities-oriented and liberal arts education to its young (male) students, many of whom came from upper-class backgrounds. Other schools that were almost as old included Cambridge Latin, a school that was originally affiliated with Harvard and prepared its students for higher education. Some early colleges in the colonies also had a relationship with a public school: religious studies (Christian religion only), study of foreign languages (including Latin and Greek), and study of philosophy would have been expected, since many of the young men were being educated to become ministers or teachers. Young girls and women were usually taught at home (subjects it was thought girls would need-- mainly domestic skills that related to her duties as a future wife and mother); literacy was not a high priority for females, and it was generally not expected that girls would go to school the way boys did in the 1600s. There is some evidence that a few young women did learn to read and write, but again, they would have come from an upper-class background more likely than not, and no public schools in the 1600s were open to them yet. As for lower class young men in the colonies, they were more likely to study as apprentices and learn a trade.

Causes for war and tribal conflict?

im doing a report at the moment on this :

The first world wars beginning

What sparked it was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914. Ferdinand's death was by the hand of the Black Hand, a Serbian pro-self-government secret society.

This set in motion an automated series of events that culminated in the world's first global war.

Austria-Hungary's reaction to the death of their heir came in three weeks. Arguing that the Serbian government was implicated in the plotting of the Black Hand, the Austro-Hungarians opted to take the opportunity to stamp its authority upon the Serbians. Crushing the movement for self-government there and cementing Austria-Hungary's influence in the Balkans (a region of southeastern Europe)

It did so by issuing an ultimatum to Serbia which, in the extent of its demand that the assassins be brought to justice effectively nullified Serbia's authority.

Austria-Hungary's expectation was that Serbia would reject the remarkably severe terms of the ultimatum, thereby giving her a pretext for launching a limited war against Serbia.

Serbia had long had Slavic ties with Russia, while Austria-Hungary didn't have such a strong relationship. Austria-Hungary was not expecting that Russia would be drawn into the dispute to any great extent. A

Austro-Hungarian government sought assurances from her ally, Germany, that she would come to her aid should the unthinkable happen and Russia declared war on Austria-Hungary.

Germany readily agreed, even encouraged Austria-Hungary's warlike stance.

So then, we have the following remarkable sequence of events that led inexorably to the 'Great War'

Austria-Hungary, unsatisfied with Serbia's response to her declared war on Serbia on 28 July 1914.

Russia, bound by treaty to Serbia, announced mobilization of its vast army in her defense, a slow process that would take around six weeks to complete.

Germany, allied to Austria-Hungary by treaty, viewed the Russian mobilization as an act of war against Austria-Hungary, and after scant warning declared war on Russia on 1 August.

France, bound by treaty to Russia, found itself at war against Germany and, by extension, on Austria-Hungary following a German declaration on 3 August. Germany was swift in invading neutral Belgium so as to reach Paris by the shortest possible route.

Britain, allied to France by a more loosely worded treaty which placed a "moral obligation" upon her to defend France, declared war against Germany on 4 August. Her reason for entering the conflict lay in another direction: she was obligated to defend neutral Belgium by the terms of a 75-year old treaty.

With Britain's entry into the war, her colonies and dominions abroad variously offered military and financial assistance, and included Australia, Canada, India, New Zealandand the Union of South Africa.

No. It is your choice to take them out of the free public school system. All children are entitled to get a free public education Kindergarden through 12 th grade. Even tho we might think our children are not getting a good public education its alot better than it use to be. So if you choose to remove your child from your school system you will have to make sure you are qualified to teach your children at home, they will be tested at various times. Most child enjoy it for a time and then when they become teen agers want to return to public school to make friends and to play sports. There are pros and cons to both and it does give the parent something to think about.

How many people per electoral vote?

Except for the smallest states and DC, each electoral votes represents about 660,000 votes.

Every state gets at least three electoral votes, regardless of its population. Because of this rule and because some states have not grown much in population, the relation between population and electoral votes varies. Wyoming has less than 583,000 pop.; Montana has 1.01 million, but both get 3 electoral votes. States with more than the minimum three have their votes awarded roughly by population, but some states almost deserve another electoral vote and some just barely qualify for those they have, so there is a variation. Also, official population figures are only changed once every 10 years, but population change every day.

What is better between mechanical engineering or quantity surveying?

A quantity surveyor is construction cost engineer, who is involved in cost estimates for building works. He prepares bills of quantities from drawings prepared by civil engineers and architects. he's know for cost palnning and control of construction. he also prepares contracts documents and manages the project till completion alongside other professionals.

A civil engineer on the other hand is a designer mostly concerned with the structural design of structures such as buildings, bridges, roads, railways, dams, pipelines, airfields etc. he doesnt care about cost he cares about the structure not collapsing.

I trained as a quantity surveyor then later studied civil engineering so i fully understand the difference between the two.

Anyone have a username and password for Holt Modern Biology online textbook?

Answer 1: It is both unethical, and a violation of the Holt system's Terms of Service (TOS) agreement (and it might even be illegal... a form of theft) to share usernames and passwords. I'm sorry, but it just is; and it should make a difference to you. Dishonest is a big deal. I've been seeing news reports lately about how the vast majority of high school students have cheated in their lives; and that they think it's okay.

It is not okay. Integrity matters in life; and integrity means doing the right thing even when no one's watching. It has nothing to do with God or the Ten Commandments or whether or not anyone will go to hell for lying or anything like that. Rather, it has to do with being (and being known as) an honest and honorable person in life; someone who can be trusted; someone whose word is his/her bond. It has to do with credibility. It has to do with all of our responsibilities under the implied social contract; and how our honoring them helps to make life, society and culture worth living! It has to do with the Golden Rule (do unto others as you would have them do unto you), and how simply following it can help to keep our society and lives from falling into chaos.

Don't try to get away with things just because you can. That's how criminals think. Are you a criminal? If you're not, then please stop acting like one.

Get your own username and password. Do things the right and honorable way. You'll not only impress others, but you'll feel better about yourself, too.
