What does a manifold do on a car?
There are basically 2 manifolds. The intake manifold routes air to the engine and also fuel on a vehicle with carburetor or throttle body fuel injection. The exhaust manifold routes exhaust gases out of the engine to the converter and then to the tail pipe.
Open the hood and secure it in the raised position
• Disconnect and isolate the battery ground cable
• Wait 90 seconds for the air bag system back-up power supply to
discharge
• Remove the air bag fuse from the fuse panel located at the lower left
driver side of the instrument panel
• From under the driver side of the instrument panel, disconnect the
yellow air bag system contact coil electrical connector (Fig. 1) by
lifting up the connector locking lever
• Open the glove compartment
• Press in on the side of the glove compartment, then pull the glove
compartment downward
• Through the glove compartment opening, disconnect the yellow
passenger air bag module electrical connector (Fig. 2) by lifting up
the connector locking lever
• Remove the cabin air filter access panel door from the A/C and
heater unit through the glove compartment opening (Figs. 3 and 4)
• This service requires the replacement of two cabin air filter
elements
• Replace the two used cabin air filters with two new cabin air
filters (Fig. 5) ensuring that the filters are placed with air flow
markings in the correct direction
• Reverse the above procedures to reassemble the vehicle components
Answer 2Open Glovebox / Squeeze-in the sides to lower it fullyLooking into the compartment, a little left of center - you will see a sort of vertical strip with two tabs sticking out wowards you. This is the "L" shaped cover. It is a narrow strip - not some big thing.
ON TOP there is a locking tab. Lift up and pull the cover towards you. Lift it up and out. The bottom is down inside a little slot.
You will find the TWO filters exposed. Ours were VERY dirty, including leaves and dead bugs! I am ordering filters - probably from eBay.
Replace the filters (this first time all I could do was to use a paper-clip and compressed air to clean them out as best I could for now). There are arrows stamped on the ends of the filters, indicating the direction of air flow. REPLACE BOTH FILTERS as running with one or none will let all of that crud dirty-up your A/C system and also get into the vehicle with you.
BE CAREFUL not to poke around in there with a screwdriver or anything as you are underneath the airbag and its connectors. The above answer says to disconnect the battery, fuses and the airbag connectors - probably the usual "covering their butts" stuff. My brother and I did this without all of that and never touched or got close to the airbag components. Use your own judgment on this. Disconnect if you are clumsy as the airbag can cause serious injury or death.
A second tip for Trackers: The dome lights might go crazy on you or stay on all the time. Here's the fix - Lower the front dome light assembly. ON TOP of it you will see these two copper tabs that stick straight up and TOUCH THE METAL ROOF of the car at times! Use needlenose pliers to bend these down or sidecutters to nip them right off down low (what I did). Lights work perfectly. No more blinking, flashing, intermittent function or just staying on all the time. NOTE: Our 2001 Trackers domelight remains on for about 30 seconds or so after closing the doors. They do cut right off when starting up, or delay as mentioned earlier - and then shut off if you are leaving the vehicle and the engine is off. I thught I still had a light problem until I realized that this was an automatic function.
do a pressure test on the cooling system. the pressure will make the leak more apparent. hopefully you'll be able to pinpoint it. as a side note i had a very slow leak that was dripping of my oil pan. i had the cooling sys pressure tested and it ended up being the pulley on the waterpump.

How do you tell if intake manifold gasket is bad on a 95 Chevy lumina v6?
One way is to start the engine and spray starter fluid around all edges of the intake. When you find a leak the engine RPMs will increase. Be very careful and have a fire extinguisher ready just in case. Know that any spark will ignite the starter fluid.
Where is the cabin air filter in a Kia Sedona?
It depends on your year. The GQ series (MY 2002-2005) doesn't have a cabin air filter.
The VQ series (MY2006-2008) has the filter under/behind the glove box. The box door is easily removed for access to the filter. Complete details can be found at http://www.kiatechinfo.com in the "Shop" section (free registration, it's Kia's official site and they have their shop manual online for owners).
Be advised that Kia misspelled "filter" "filtar" so a search for "cabin air filter" will fail. Just drill down after entering the vehicle info to Heating, ventilation, A/C > Blower > Climate Control air filtar [sic] > Repair Procedures.
Without putting it on a dyno, it is impossible to say. The 2.73 gear makes no difference in the horsepower. The exhaust and cold air intake will add around 10 h.p. would be my guess, and that is all it is, a guess. So take the stock H.P. and add 10.
How do you change a cabin air filter for a 2000 Chrysler Sebring?
A 2000 Chrysler Sebring was not built with a cabin filter.
Wher is the intake manifold runner control valve on a 2008 Dodge Avenger?
Finding the intake manifold runner control on a Dodge Avenger is easy. It is located near the engine.
What could cause head gasket failure?
if that happens oil mixes with the cooling fuild to make a milky white colored oil check on dip stick also less power. Bubbles in the radiator when the car is running indicates exhaust gas pushing into the cooling system. Serious engine damage if you continue to drive. Those are both answers to another question: "What could head gasket failure cause?" The causes of head gasket failure can be... I'm not sure. Overheating? that is also a very likely result of failure. Any advice from someone else? time and mileage..they go bad all the time.. Overheating and not having the head bolts torqued properly after replacing the head.
Does a 1999 Ford F-250 Superduty diesel have a cabin air filter and if so where is it?
As far as I know, it does not have one. Your owners manual will tell you for sure.
There is a cabin air filter on the passenger side of the engine compartment below the windshield but I'm not sure how to access it.
How do you replace cabin air filter on a 2002 Kia Optima?

How do you repair an oil leak on a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier 6-cylinder intake manifold?
The lower intake on either the 2.8L V6 the 3.1L V6 or the 3.4L V6 all are the same set up lower intake gaskets are very common to leak oil at the lower intake gasket due the the fact that right below it is the push rods and lifters. if you want to get your hands dirty and attempt to do it yourself there's some work to this job and requires a good memory and cautious removal and installing habits. LET'S BEGIN: First take off the air cleaner hose then the PCV hose then unhook all throttle body cables and connector wires also the 2 coolant hoses below the throttle body as well as the upper radiator hose, then unhook the vaccum hose from the back of the upper intake manifold then remove the 3 bolts/nuts on the bracket that's in front of where the vaccum hose is that you just removed. Remove the EGR valve just take out the 3 bolts don't try messing with the steel line it'll be rusty and hard to remove without damaging. The gasket should be ok to reuse on the EGR valve as long as it doesn't get torn in the process or so replace it. Next remove the upper intake manifold the gaskets although they are paper they can be reused if not damaged. But normally its best to replace them. Next unhook the fuel rail make sure to do this so safely with the key off and the battery unhooked or the fuel pump fuse unhooked. take off both fuel lines. Next remove the wires from the injectors be careful you have to push in the on clips do not pry on them they will break. If they are hard to push in I recommend using needle nose pliers to make it easier. Next remove all bolts from fuel rail. Then evenly pull up on the fuel rail if not done cautiously injectors can be broken. A pry bar will help removal when used carefully. The O rings on the injectors if not damaged can be reused if not damaged but make sure to lube them with a light coat of grease before installation otherwise damage and possible leaks could happen. Next remove the drive belt then remove the alternator and the unhook the wires. Next remove the Power Steering Pump bolts there are 3 of them and they are behind the Power Steering Pump pulley they are 10MM bolts rotated the pulley to access each bolt for removal. There is no need to remove the Power Steering Pump hoses simply lift up the Power Steering pump and place out of the way. next remove the valve cover bolts these are torx head bolts remove all 4 on each valve cover take off the valve covers the gaskets if in good shape on the valve covers can be reused if not replace them its worth the money if you've gotten into it this far. Next remove the lower intake manifold bolts then pull up on the lower intake manifold make sure all hoses are unhooked and out of the way as well as wires. Remove old gasket and cautiously clean the gasket surface lay a rag or cloth or towel in the valley to prevent gasket material or dirt etc. from getting into the oil. Next install new lower intake gasket. Use Black RTV Silicone on the ends of the gasket to hold gasket in place. Then reassemble in reverse make sure to properly tighten all bolts and fasteners to prevent stripping or leaks due to improper torque. I am only doing this for instructional purposes and this should only be looked at like guidelines since there are differences between years and engine setups, if you are unsure of or have problems with anything after following these instructions I suggest that you take it to a mechanic.
I am not responsible for anyone's problems or issues.

How do you change air gas ratio on your motorcycle?
Your motorcycle has to be "re-jetted" if its a carborated motor. If its electronic fuel injection, it would have to be reprogrammed and hooked up to a dyno machine. Some EFI motors can receive downloads from a computer--this is done by the service department at a dealership however (its not something you can do at home on your own).
You need to know what circut of the carb that needs re-jetting. Fuel injected engines can be reprogramed if you have the reprogramming information and or a laptop w/ the approiate fuel pack. W/ a good fuel pack you can advance/ retard you ignition system according to speed and rpm. There a lost you can do on your own once you understand what fuel pack can accomidate all around adjustments in one unit.
The intake gasket have anything to do with the car overhearing?
ya, especially if you are leaking antifreeze internally or externally. if intake manifold gasket leaks usually have vacuum problem result in "rough engine idle" look for external antifreeze leak at manifold gasket first. then check oil for "milky color" - if antifreeze runs low due to leak = Yes - engine overheat. Dont drive it - you can do a lot more damage if you do.
What is the torque spec for the intake manifold bolts on a 351 windsor?

How do you change cabin air filter on 2004 Toyota Avalon?
Open the glove box. Remove all the Phillips head screws and remove the entire glove box, door and all. Look straight ahead there is a cover 2" x 8" (approx) pop it off and the filter slides out
Why does the air filter smell like gas?
Leaking fuel filter or fuel filter connections; Plugged, dirty or poorly connected fuel injector(s).
Where is the air filter located on a Mitsubishi Montero?
well, let me preface this by saying that if you don't even know how to find the air filter, then you shouldn't be doing --anything-- under the hood!
however, if you insist, then open the hood, and look at the top center of your engine. there is a large corrugated (wrinkled up) tube that comes off of it and goes off to the side (on my '91 it goes to the left.) and ends in a bell housing about the size of a curled up cat. (hopefully you know what -that- is...)
around the edges, there will be clips that hold the housing together. unclip them. this should be done by hand, with no tools needed. if you need a tool, you're not doing it right, so take it to a mechanic and only open the hood to check your oil. nothing else.
ok, so, hopefully by now you've got the clips undone. there is an air handling manifold that sticks inside the bell housing and filter, so you must pull it out pretty straight, but don't worry about the air line, as this is why it's corrugated, so it can bend with no damage. then, inside the bell housing, you will find the filter. there are three tabs located around the housing edge that fit into reccesses in the filter to keep it properly aligned. make a note of them, and be sure to put your new filter back in with the tabs aligned. then stick the manifold back in, re attach the clips, and boom. you're done. now leave the rest to someone who knows what they're doing. or get a book or something.
sheesh.
