The cabin air filter on a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo SS is changed by opening the service panel under the glove compartment. The filter can then be pulled from its housing and a new filter installed.

not enirely sure this is what you mean but i think you meen the 5th and 6th intake ports.

only NA Rx7's have them, all turbo version have 4 intake ports.

NA 13b engines have these ports so that the engine can take advantage of a smaller intake tract at lower rpm creating torque however later on the 5th and 6th ports are opened by actuators to release high rpm horse power. Without the 5th and 6th ports the engine would be sluggish when rpm is fairly low.

These 5th and 6th ports operate in a similar functionality to the V-tec engine of Honda civics, the 13b engine like the V-tec can change the internal dimension of the intake tract for its own benefit to get the best of both worlds, only v-tec engines do this with exhaust ports as well but that's beyond the scope of this reply.

Turbo 13b engines have no need for 6 ports, due to air being compressed 4 ports is quite sufficient to get the air into the housings.

Disconnect the frontand rear o2 sensor electrical connectors. Separate the catalytic converter from the flex-pipe. Remove the fasteners between the catalytic converter and the exhaust manifold. Disconnect the EGR tube from the catalytic converter. Remove band from the front of the catalytic that holds it to the bracket on the front of the engine block. Remove fasteners holding exhaust manifold to head.

The intake manifold on the V6 / V8 engines is usually bolted to the top of the engine in the center of the " V ". The new Bmw V8 and ford's 6.7 diesel have reverse flow cylinder heads, the exhaust is in the valley between the heads and the intake is now on the outside of the heads.

Inline 4cyl. engine has the intake on the side of the engine, on a front wheel drive(tranverse motor) car would have it either bolted to the front side or backside of the motor.

If you follow the hose before the filter it will lead to some cone shape plastice piece that could probably be located somewhere in the fender or grill

The head gasket is located between the cylinder head and the engine block. You would be best to buy the book for the car if you're going to tackle this job as you will need torque specs also as well as other details. You might find a book at the local library or parts store.

It is quite the pain to remove, but real easy. Push in the two clips on the lid and lift it up, Loosen the screw on the fastener and lift the lid higher and it should slip right off. Lift the housing on the side with the one clip type thing that looks like a nipple and pull up. This is the part that is a pain, it takes a good amount of force for it to come off. Once it does, slide the whole thing towards the engine and it should come right off. Just do the reverse to replace it.

it is in the right front.Loosen the clamp from the throttle body and there two more right by the box loosen all and remove tube from throttle body to the air box after that you can see the air filter box it has 3 push tabs on it push them in and pull the cap up swap filters and reverse your procedure.There is a sensor on the tube you might have to unhook very easily with a small flathead.The first time you change it you might have to use some elbow grease to get everything loose and be able to get the top of filter box off but dont fret its easy anyproblems just ask.

Follow the flexable black hose that comes from the intake out to a black box next to the radiator. There should be 3-4 clips around the sides. undue the clips and lift up on the box cover.

You will need to replace the quick disconnect fitting and it is best to use a steel one.

Remove your stock engine cover by disconnecting your O2 sensor and intake hoses (both sides of the engine). Give the cover and good firm tug to remove and then observe the underside of the cover. There are several screws on the bottom of the intake that you must remove before the air filter is revealed but they do not come out of their places so don't worry about losing them. Once they are undone, remove the bottom cover to reveal your air filter.
