Is voltage regulator internal 1984 Volvo dl?
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I assume it would be the same as my
1982 Volvo 244GL . There are ( 2 ) small bolts/screws that hold it on the
back of the alternator . I changed mine twice in the 12 years I had the car .
Take the two screws out , tip the voltage regulator up as you remove it ,
installation is the reverse

That's just about it. A 45 minute job with some help.
I also have had trouble with my battery and alternator with my 92 Cabriolet. If the car sits for a couple of days the battery will be so dead the car won't start. I have replaced both parts more than once with no change. I don't have an answer for you but wonder if there is some problem with this year of the Cabriolet.
I have an 83 Cabriolet that has the same issues. My alternator is fine, it's been replaced twice and checked 3 times so it's not the alternator itself. Check the wiring, especially grounds, it's a good idea to replace them if they are originals, they easily could be the culprits. Also it might very well be the voltage regulator, if it's not working the way it should it can mess up the juice going into your alternator making it dysfunctional. Check fuses and relays too. All of these are pretty cheap to fix and aren't hard to do yourself. Go to Autozone and have them test your alternator, it's a very good way to finding if something going to your alternator is not working properly.
How do you replace the alternator on a 97 Isuzu Rodeo?
DISCONNECT BATTERY FIRST!!!!!. The alternator is located on the passenger side of the motor at the bottom. There is a bracket attached to the motor and the alternator. You need not take the bracket off to remove the alternator. Two bolts hold the alternator to the bracket. One bolt is on the front top of the alternator and one bolt is located on the bottom front of the alternator. The bottom front bolt is attached to the tension adjustment for the alternator. Loosen the tension screw then remove the bolt going through the tension adjustment. After you loosen the top, front bolt, the alternator should be loose enough to move side to side. Remove the top, front bolt. Now you must disconnect the alternator from the power supply. Behind the alternator is a screw with a wire attached via nut. Remove this wire. Nextly there is a series of wires with a plug on the end. It is plugged into the side of the alternator. Uplug this item. You can also access both of these from the passenger side front tire well.Something to consider is that remanufactured alternators in Rodeo's as well as the Honda Passport (which has the same engine as the Rodeo) do not work and the problem(s) associated with a bad alternator,ie; not charging, no fan blower, battery light and brake light on, still exist after replacing alternator with reman. Use a factory original alternator if possible. It will cost a little more than a reman but will most likely save you a lot of time and headache!Hope this helps you out!!

How do you replace the alternator on a 1995 Ford Contour?
Its a pain in the but. but you have to undo the engine mount and take it off. try to put something under the motor to hold it up but be carefull of the oil pan. and it should be on the backside of the motor towards the back. also take the serpentine belt off. once you do that. there should just be a couple of bolts that hole it on, undo those, the wires, and wiggle it out. be sure to disconect the battery too to prevent any shorts from your alternator. now get the alternator tested. i had one that wasn't putting out charge, i did all of this to find out it was a little transistor (i believe that's what it is called) box that sits below the intake between the firewall and the motor. i just took out that box and we haven't had any problemswith it too. it'll also save you a lot of money. just go to autozone or a place with an alternator testor. they should do it for free
How do you change a drive belt and alternator belt on a 1992 Mazda Protege?
Presume that you have Ac & power steering, w/o AC is similar. 1. Drive car onto ramp. 2. Under the car, remove dirtguard underneath Ac compressor.(10mm bolts) 3. Outside the car (right front wheel), look through wheelwell between AC compressor & power steering you will see 14mm nut that lock tension bolt, loosen it couple turns. 4. Loosen tension bolt (12mm) as necessary. 5. From top of car, loosen top power steering bolt (14mm). (I use magnetic pickup to help put 14mm socket through hole in pulley of power steering pump.) 6. Now you can move power steering pump & take out serpentine belt. 7. Loosen alternator bottom bolt (14mm) & tension bolt (12mm) to take out v-belt.
Secondly... for those of you who have a 1994-1997 Mazda Protege with A/C, and your AC compressor has seized up (breaking the belt in the process).... you can actually bypass the A/C!!! Just pick up the belt that is meant for Mazda Protege's that did not come with A/C.
The Autozone guys told me it wouldn't work, but I just finished putting one on with the outstanding directions listed above!
How do you replace the alternator on a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero 4 cylinder?
He's right..if you cant do it yourself it's going to be a challenge, a mess and you'll probubly end up with more problems. If your up for it thought it's not too difficult, I just had to change mine (yet another fix for my old alero) and it's not rocket science. First you remove the negetive battery cable. Then remove the wires from the alternator as well as the bolts that hold it in and finally the old alternator (which i suggest you recycle :) ..) The schematic for the serpentine belt should be on the fan shroud....IF NOT DRAW ONE BEFORE REMOVING IT! Do not go by memory. If you didn't understand more then a couple of those words just bring it to the mechanic and pay the extra.Good luck.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1998 Chevy Malibu 4 cylinder?
I did change it my self. It is highly recommended that a serpentine belt tool is borrowed from the local auto parts store. First remove the negative cable from the battery. Next remove the nut holding the ground wire on the alternator itself. This will expose the plug underneath the alternator. Unplug it. Use a 13mm wrench head which should come with the serpentine belt tool and place it on the nut on the tension pulley. Make sure you look at the belt so that you will know how to reinstall. Release tension and remove the belt. The alternator is held in place by 3 15mm bolts. One requires a deep socket to remove and is the most obvious of the three. The second is just to it's right and requires a lenghty extension as it is bolted fairly low. The final bolt is underneath the alternator and must be located by feel. Once these are free, the alternator can be removed. The new alternator can be installed by reversing these directions.

What are the wires for on alternator?
There should be a heavy wire called the Alternator output wire, It carries power from the alternator to power your accessories and to maintain your battery. The smaller wires usually in a plug are either the alternator's voltage sense, Stator/ACurrent/Tachometer output, regulator/indicator light. or if its an Externaly regulated alternator they will be alternator Field, Stator/ACurrent/Tachometer. hope this helps

How do you change the alternator belt on a 2001 kia spectra?
losen alternator- cut the old belt off, use a screwdriver to lever the new one over biggest wheel try NOT to stab it with the end of the screwdriver as you lever it over turn the wheel then lever it again little by little till it's on(like putting a tire on bicycle). tighten the alternator so the belt has no play by levering the alternator agaisnt the belt and tightening at the same time. this is a good way to do it if you havent got alot of tools on you and you are stuck away from home
Where is the alternator in a 1996 Cadillac deville?
this is a bitc to get to but me & my wifes uncle knocked it out in bout 2 & half hours if your facing your grill of your caddy it on the very bottom front left of the car u will have to get under it to see it there is a small plate like 10 inches long *& three inches wide that u will have to unbolt to remove it because you can not remove it from the bottom there is no way to remove it from the top the only other way is to remove the radiator but i wouldn't do that.all of this only applies if you have a northstar... if you have a 4.9 its on top left along with your belts & crank pulleys good luck..also if it is your alternator going bad your alert system should be reading battery no charge
