Yes. an alternator can be good but you can still have charging problems if:-

1.Battery is no good.

2.Fan belt slack or worn.

3.Poor or broken wiring connections at alternator.

4.Loose or dirty battery conections.

5.poor or broken wiring between alternator and battery.

6.Alternator rating not large enough for application.

Take the belt back off, then try to bolt the tensioner on.

If your right leg is broken, no. If your left leg is broken, yes. If you don't think you can, go ahead! It's totally worth a shot and all of your friends will think your cool

My husband just did ours, it was I think only 3 screws on alternator. Once you remove the screws, you have to rock the alternator left and right to remove (like a lever). It looked very simple.

Wrenches: 10 mm, 12mm and 14 mm.

If you are driving in the daytime, your car will loose power and then turn off. If you try to start it, it will not even crank. That's because once the alternator broke down, the engine was now using the power of the battery to run. And since the battery is not getting charged by the alternator, then the battery runs out of power and everything electrical in the car shuts down.

If you are driving at night, your head lights will dim a lot and then your car shuts down. Try to start it and it won't even crank.

get the battery checked at a auto parts shop most shops will check your battery for free while you are at it get them to check the alternator is charging properly also

once you know its not the battery or alternator at fault put an amp meter in series between the battery positive and the positive wire of the vehicle with everything switched off you should only get a reading of well below 1 amp(because of clocks and radio memory etc there will always be a small draw) anything near or above one amp is too much of a draw if this is the case start removing fuses one at a time replacing each one as you go until you find one that causes the amp reading to drop to well below one amp then check what the fuse is for and it should lead you to the fault

this depends on what you plan to run in the vehicle the more electronics you have (e.g. stereo amplifiers) the more amperage you will need to keep the battery charged generally speaking this vehicle should have a 40 amp alternator at minimum

turn the car on and wen is on, disconect the battery if the cars keeps on working is good,but if the car shuts off it means is bad

Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable, then loosen the hinge and bracket bolts on the alternator. There should only be one of each. Rotate the alternator around the bracket to release tension on the belt and electrical wires far enough that they can be disconnected. Remove the bracket bolt then the hinge bolt and the alternator should come right out. Installation is the reverse of removal. To tighten the belt back up, be sure the bracket bolt is loose then use a prybar between the alternator body and the engine block to pry the alternator along bracket. When the desired tension is reached, tighten the bracket bolt back down. Boom Done

You can loosen the tension on your alternator belt by loosening the tensioner bolt. When the tensioner bolt is loose you can slide the alternator to the left.

You have to remove the wiper cowl assembly, and the alternator mounting brackets.

have you tried rubbing soap on the inside of the fan belt while its running but in park? when fan belts are slipping they will make a squeaking sound because the parts that turn it cannot grip onto it which wears away at the fan belt. rubbing soap on the belt will make it adhere to the gears better which may eliminate the squeak.

i have a 1999 g20t and the fan belt was located behind the front passenger wheel well.

just touch the soap on the upper side of the belt from there. DO NOT TOUCH THE BELT WITH ANY PART OF YOUR BODY YOU LIKE. ONLY USE THE SOAP.

I did just this but please don't hold me to a less than finesse method. My mechanic stated you should be able to replace the belt by putting a wrench on the idler nut and pushing back towards the firewall. In my case I think the idler has very limited travel so it did not work. In conjuntion with the idler push I pulled the two mounting bolts out of the alternator (2 different sized heads) but left the third bolt in place (torques or Allen head). With a mallot I was able to loosen the alternator enough to remove the old belt. NOW you need a second person and a flat pry bar. With the belt in place it would not go till we pryed down on the alternator and kept tensioning the belt around crackshaft and idler. Once on you then need to slowly pry up on the alternator and pulling on the belt and tapping none to gently on the flat bar with the mallet. You will then be able re-insert the bolts while the second person applies the pressure to hold the alternator in place. Without the second person on the flat bar and a heavy rubber mallet you are doomed. Worked for me.

Alternators have a built in regulator that keeps the voltage at about 13.5 Volts. Depending on the load, the alternator may be putting out anywhere from just a few amps to full capacity of over 100 amps for some alternators. Batteries charge at anything over 12 volts and handle about 14 volts without any problem. You start causing problems for your battery and other parts of your electrical system when the voltage goes over about 15 volts. But then, if your regulator is working right that should never happen.

The current (amps) of an alternator does not vary. if it is a 100 amp alternator, the amperage coming out is always 100 amps.

disconnect the battery source first, disconnect the wiring on the alternator, then loosen the bolts on the mounts to loosen the belt. then loosen and remove the bolts. remove the alternator, and replace with new one.

There is a bolt on the lower bracket for the Alternator but that doesnt mean its whats causing the belt to screech... It could be dirt, a worn belt or a worn pulley. Take some greese, vasaline or anything like that, put it on the belt itself or if you wish the pulley and see if that helps, it worked great for my spirit cause i didnt want to replace belt even tho it is a good idea to replace the belt.

Two hours if you have never done it before. 30 minutes if you are quick.
