first of all you need to take of screws on the coner of the bumper and the inside then under the bumper once you have done that there are 4 screws that hold the headlight on the bottom of the light on the passanger side it is easy to take off but on the driver side you need to go under the car between the radiator then you must unplug the headlight and it comes out i just did for my 95 it should be the same for 97.

If you go to a loca junk yard you can get an almost new bumper for about $40. Then all you have to worry about is somebody painting it for you. At a Macco it should run about $100 or so.

I've never seen fog lights mounted OEM "in" the bumper on a 1996. However if your talking about on top of the bumper then that is easy. Just unbolt them than take them apart and replace the bulbs. Or do what I did and install newer aftermarket ones, they work much better. With the aftermarket lights you may have to modify the OEM brackets a bit. I used rubber spacers to help hold the new lights in place and cut down the vibration. If your lights are mounted in the bumper, you will have to remove the bumper.

2001-2002 I know the screws are behind the trunk panel. Two on each side I think and the ones in the back.

Under the cover there should be two screws. On my '02 Firebird they were a star screw. Taking those two screws off let the panel come out.

I would say yes. It doesnt matter how much damage was done to the cars. It is still considered an accident. Im sure it would get thrown out by a judge.

undo two or three screws just inside both front wheel arches then where the bonnet meets bumper there are little black plastic gromets , take them out, then pull bumper away from front wings they should pop out of plastic slides then go to front of car and pull complete bumper fowards and off.

I've done it but it was years ago and I'm working from a poor memory. The grill has to come out to give you access to the fasteners holding the plastic bumper cover on. They are held by an ingenious little plastic clip that you access from the front of the vehicle. These "Clips" have to be rotated 90 degrees to unlock them and there are 8 or so total to undo. Look around the edges of the grill and you will spot them. once you get access to the bumper cover there are screws on the top and bottom of the cover that must be removed to get access to the bumper structure. The "bumper itself is pretty easy to replace as it is just bolted to the frame; getting access to it is the trick I think I also remove the headlights to allow access to the bumper cover as well. The fog lights are turned on by pressing the fog light button on the headlight switch. On my truck, you have to pull the switch out that turns the regular lights on.

You don't say what Lincoln, but it is unlikrly, F150 is a pickup truck and would have a very different bumper than any model lincoln

a front bumper on a same year 316 will fit on a 318 if they are both the same body style. For instance a coupe bumper will fir on a coupe and a sedan on a sedan but you can't put a coupe bumper on a sedan.

If the damage is small enough, you might just want to find out how much a bumper would cost and give the other individual the cash. That way your insurance won't go up. Otherwise, make a report to your insurance company.

Try some 3M structural adhesive. Should be ava. at good hardware store or parts dept. of any GM dealer. Two (2) part epoxy. Apply to both surfaces hold in place with duct tape, sets in 2-5min. Color cream... The main thing on these bumpers are they have a circular disk that fits in a slot. Hard to get it in, but when you do, take a regular metal screw and install in the lip of the metal fender well..Very common problem on these cars..
