How do you fix the head gasket on a northstar engine?

I can't say that i have used this product before but i hear it is the best solution short of pulling the motor out to replace the head gasket's.

I have a suggestion as well, although I warn you mine is more work, but also has been proved on over one hundred Northstar engines to date, with a 99% success rate. You do have to pull the engine, but It's a fool proof repair. These head gaskets are failing because the original head bolts are fine threaded in an aluminum block. Over time the block and heads just strip due to the pressure. A process just like this is also used on race cars, and it was used on my Oldsmobile Aurora.

How do you change the fuel pump in a 1999 Cadillac De ville?

Make sure it's not working before you change it out because it's a bit pricey The pump is in the gas tank. Disconnect the battery, then the fuel lines, and connectors at the tank. Remove the tank harness and drop the tank. The pump and sending unit is accessible on the top of the tank. Remove the retaining ring or lock and repace the assembly. Use the new gasket and "o" ring that should be included with a new pump. reassemble

What makes a 1993 cadillac deville transmission shudder between 40 50mph on acceleration but when you tap the brakes while acceleration it stops?

Where is radiader water drain plug in a 1993 cadillac deville?

They are hard to get at on the bottom of the rad. I find it easier to remove one end of the lower hose to drain the system; plus, you don't have to worry about breaking off the plastic petcock on your radiator. I hope this helps you. Mark

The best way to go about this if you are not mechanically inclined, go to your neighborhood Autozone, or Discount Auto parts stores, both stores test alternators for free, I used to work at autozone, so i know firsthand.

How do you take out a dash board speaker in a 1991 Cadillac Deville?

You must remove the upper dash to access the speakers - the grilles are attached from below using nuts. To remove the upper dash you remove the screws at the defrost vent, pop out the A/C vents on the dash face (easily comes off with a flat head screwdriver) to access screws behind them, and two screws inside the glove box. 9 screws total. There is a hose and one wire clip as well.

Either replace the factory grill with a custom made grill for deeper speakers or buy shallow mount 4x6 with an adapter plate for a stock look.

92 deville auto trunk button not working?

You state auto trunk button inop--am I correct to assume you already know the release in the trunk is OK? If it is the release button located in the glovebox. it easily removes and has 2 wires-You'll need a 12v test light or meter. One side will show 12v ONLY WITH THE IGNITION KEY IN THE ON/RUN POSITION. If the button is pushed with key on and the other side of the switch should also read 12v. If that all checks out, its a matter of following that wire to find the open.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1993 Cadillac Deville?

# Remove the coolant overflow bottle. # Remove the battery. # Loosen the pulley bolts. # Loosen or remove the drive belt. # Remove pulley bolts

# Remove all studs and bolts from old water pump. # Pull old pump off. Use a screwdriver to start it but be careful not to bend the old pump. Also, tapping the center of the pulley lightly with a hammer may help loosen it. If it is hard to get out, check and make sure all bolts are removed. When you remove the pump, there will not be enough room to remove the pulley drum from the pump. This is important to remember when installing the new water pump.

# Scrape area off with a gasket scraper and razor blade to remove old gasket. Make sure its clean! Spray it with brake cleaner and wipe clean afterward. # Spray both sides of the new gasket with high tack. High tack works much better than the goop because it is clean, even, and seals well. # Slip gasket in carefully and be sure it fits properly over bolts and is in correct placement against block. Press down to ensure seal. # Spray the inside of the water pump with high tack evenly. # Install water pump into correct place against block making sure that pulley drum is already hanging from new pump or you will not get it on afterward! # Install bolts and studs and tighten down. # Install pulley screws and tighten as best you can. # Reinstall and tighten drive belt. # Finish tightening pulley bolts. # Reinstall battery and coolant overflow bottle being sure that bottle is empty. # Let sealant dry overnight. # Fill system with water next day/morning and run/drive car as normal until you are sure it is not leaking. # If no leaks exist, drain system and fill with proper coolant mixture. # Return old water pump in box for return on core fee.

Ive done this twice on a 92 Sedan DeVille, so just post any questions you have. If your wondering why I did it twice, the part store sold me a bad pump that went out within two months.

Overheating 1998 Deville?

1. full coolant level? no? fill. 2. fans come on around 190-200 degrees? no? replace sensor switch. 3. check for worn/ slipping water pump belt. replace 4. radiator holds pressure? no? have leak/pin hole in radiator fixed. 5. heater puts out hot air? no? thermostat possibly stuck, replace. 6. high mileage? possible water pump failure, disconnect top radiator hose at radiator, start car, water starts pumping out of top hose? no? replace water pump. (Also good test for stuck thermostat, if stuck, valve to radiator is shut off = no flow to radiator) 7. If not any of above, check for oil in water or water in oil (in oil it will make oil look kinda milky brown)this is possibe blown head gasket from overheating, take to mechanic for diagonstic of exhaust gasses in coolant. entire powertrain has to be dropped from under car to get to timing cover in order to remove head to replace gasket. VERY EXPENSIVE. consider selling car.
