Car Alarm Systems

A car that has a alarm will usually have a red light on the instrument panel that when you lock the car with the key fob will come on and stay on for a few seconds. After the alarm is set the light will begin to flash. To test the alarm roll down the drivers window and close all the doors and trunk and on some cars even the hood has to be closed. Lock the doors with your key fob and when the red light starts to blink unlock the door manually by reaching inside to unlock it and open the door from the outside. The alarm should sound. To turn off the alarm use the key fob to unlock the doors.

On 2003 Tibron when you set the alarm off do the following, while the horn is sounding turn key to ACC, roll the driver window down and wait for horn to stop then wait 30 seconds and start the car.

To disable: 1. Disconnect the negative battery lead.

No but seriously, my car is doing the exact same thing! I am researching that question, I'll post back when I figure it out...

There is a wire than runs to the starter and the box is in the trunk on the driver side. Don't know what your problems are?

I have a Toyota sienna 2003 van, LED of the car alarm keeps blinking even I deactivate it to open the doors . Please tell me how to reset it? thanks

How to disalarm the alarm on a 1992 Toyota Camry

Disarm the alarm before removing the battery.

go to advance auto and rent a code reader for an ob2 ,with the vehicle off plug it into the computer which i think it is right next to the e-brake release. turn the key to the on position (not running) select scan. once it tells you what the code is for it should ask if you want to delete the code, select yes.

turn the vehicle off unplug the code reader. plug it back and repeat, it should say passed no codes found. some time the computer get a syay reading causeing varios codes to show but if it return after you start it then that system or component needs work.

1. Insert key 2. Hold down drivers side unlock button 3. Turn ignition to on position and back to off position three times (on,off,on,off,on,off) 4. release unlock button. (door locks will cycle) 5. hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the remote at the same time. (locks will cycle again) 6. Remove key, the remote should now work (unless is is not the right frequency for your car, in which case the locks wouldn't have cycled the second time)c

It has a passive type antitheft system which prevents the engine running unless a key with the correct transponder is used. This is a very difficult car to steal without a tow vehicle or specialized equipment.

To dissconnect the alarm on my newley purshased 1996 geo tracker i took 2 fuses out behind the toggle switch under the dash.It didnt work right and the light always stayed on.

One can purchase a car alarm at a store that sells car accessories. The dealership where one purchased the car might also be a good source for a car alarm.

I have a 2001 Xterra that was experiencing a similar issue. The dealer told me that the remote keyless entry transmitters could act trigger the alarm when the its battery gets low. The transmitter comes apart fairly easily. On mine, there is a notch in the side where I use a quarter to pry the pieces apart. Try taking the battery completely out of each of your transmitters. If the alarm doesn't go off in the time frame that your alarm would normally go off then you know that's it. If it doesn't work at least your not out any money.

Different alarms have different sensitivity levels. Some alarms are set to go off with the lightest of touch or even just a loud sound.

There is a site (Cobra-es) that has the remote alarm system listed - It might be worth looking there in the first instance, failing that it could be sa manufacturer call to ask for a reset code.

A decent estimate of the speed of sound at sea level in dry air is (331.3+0.606*T)m/s where T is in °C. That means that at 20 °C, the speed would be about 343.2 m/s. Using that value, you get an estimate.of about 3 seconds (2.912 from the equation) for a sound wave to travel 1 km. Factors that can change it include: altitude (as pressure drops, the speed of sound decreases), frequency (in dry air, the speed of sound increases by about 0.1 m/s as the frequency rises from 10 Hz to 100 Hz, but above 100 Hz, where pretty much all car alarms sound, it's essentially constant), and humidity (the difference between 0% and 100% humidity is about 1.5 m/s at standard pressure and temperature). None of these effects are anywhere near as significant as the temperature of the air though.

There should be a switch/button device under the steering column by the fuse box. If it's not there, bring it to an alarm dealer and he/she can short it with some wiring rubbing. I had the same problem but the switch/button was missing but 2 wires were present. The technician rubbed them together a certain amont of times and silenced it. You can also buy a remote which is pretty cheap on Amazon.com or maybe E-bay. It will simply need to be programmed. Just follow the instructions if you decide to buy one.

i just worked on a 1996, after a lot of reading i replaced the mall computer (made no difference) the drivers door lock (no difference) and finally the alarm module (fixed the problem) it is a small grey box located behind the glove box, dont confuse it with the mall computer, the alarm module only has one terminal and the mall has two. purchase these at a wrecking yard that has a return policy so you can try them. good luck!

HAHA! Mine goes off whenever a loud engine of a car or truck goed by, close by thunder, etc. It must have a really sensitive alarm system for shaking of the van.
